Tooheys Extra Dry 5 Seeds Questions & Answers
Is the rumour true that Tooheys is to discontinue the 5 Seeds Cider range? Heard this in the Coles bottleshop yesterday... [if so I'm pretty shattered and disgusted...]
Looks like it might be possible, if this article from December 2019 is accurate:

Thanks Mitchamus - a pretty disappointing move by Tooheys...
Is there yeast in cider?
Yes. Same as beer & wine.
No yeast in spirits though as they are distilled.
There is no gluten in apples. There is gluten in wheat, barley and rye.
Is it gluten free?
No. There is loads of gluten in apples. That's why they use apples to make bread.
Hope this helps
Doubt it
I am trying to determine this for my wife who is a coeliac. Shall try 5 seeds direct and report. Some ciders are GF, others aren't. It is maybe similar to the gins, depends on the source of alcohol used. As far as mitchamus' answer, I am both angry and sad. If people give advice regarding health please be sure of the facts! There is zero gluten in apples! Gluten is found in wheat, oats and barley. Hence the need to be careful of the source of the alcohol. Fortunately the answer would not have repercussions for Carole or others. However if their cider is indeed GF, Toohey's would be financially harmed................. Please retract your statement mitchumas and take greater care with your wisdom sharing!
Hi If you are looking for a true gluten free cider try Angry Orchard Hard cider or Saxton apple cider they both clearly state that they are GF & seem to be the only producers of cider that actually have the guts to say so. Most ciders should be GF but I don't trust them. Both of these are available from Dan Murphys or BWS however the corporate idiots at Dan Murphy's won't allow Saxton's in the chiller as Saxton's don't pay for the chiller shelf space, and that's from the DM staff members.
There is also loads of gluten in sarcasm. They also use sarcasm to make bread.
