Xiaomi – I have had a long love affair with xiaomi products. They are smart looking, well built and reliable. They seem to be able to produce anything from torches to toothbrushes. I purchased the first xiaomi set topbox and wasn’t disappointed. At that time boxes were just beginning to appear and the appeal of turning your standard tv into a smart tv for under $100 was very tempting. I bought another tv for another room and turned to xiaomi to smarten it up. The box had turned into a stick. Although it worked as well as the box, moving the unsightly cables without disturbing the playback started to irritate me leaving me saddened with the possible loss of my affair with xiaomi. The box was less available. Itssmall and sleek and black. The stick was cheaper and at the time it seemed that the box had been shelved. The quality of the stick is a black mark against xiaomi. It’s light and flimsy and that’s before you’ve attached the USB cable. I’m the proud owner of multiple sticks and remote controls and I’m going mad. This is good because I take a fresh look at the new set top boxes. I still like the xiaomi box and after reading all the stats of a load of others it still is, I believe, one of the best on the market. Last thought….. I’ve just seen and read everything about the xiaomi projector and sense that unusual prickling at the back of my neck. Watch out bank account.
