TP-Link AX5400 Deco X73-DSL Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Router

Following the setup process via the Deco app was a bit clunky but eventually got it working. Once up and running it's great. Wifi coverage and speed are both good, and it connects to my FTTN slightly faster than my old modem. All of the settings (including the more advanced ones) are available in the app, but some are buried below a few menus.… Read more
That said it DOES support setup via HTML in a browser. Just have to know how to access it (hint: the default password is on a sticker under the unit).
One star off for the slightly clunky setup but otherwise a good modem router.
Dont know about these airheads who think they are smarter then the truth however no html support puts this product on the lowest of the trash bin,its no secret html is faster, safer and more reliable then todays woke phenomenon known as the scam/spam smartphones no wonder incompetent noobs assume the more proven faster and robust methods are… Read more
superior in every respect seriously folks! however that being said i would like to see tp link wanke up to themselfs and realise us more profficiant engineers actually have more finances then them wannabe self deluded racist hyppocrites are of todays, no secret why not make it better for both pro desktop html and also the savvy wifi smarphone punters whom dont understand the concepts of security for very personal reasons,im afraidz2
Junk. It is a very expensive router but it throttles speeds to around 5mbps every week or so. The app tells you everything is great but its not. Reboot and its all good again. Rinse and repeat. Show details
We bought this device about a year ago. It was touted as the latest and greatest. From what I can see, wifi 6 is useless and if you're in the market you really need to wait till wifi 7 dsl modem routers come out middle of 2026. You really want Wifi 7, at least that's what the hype says. Having to find workarounds like setting up old routers as a… Read more
wireless access point seems to be the go to use the Deco. I'm currently connected to mine that way and it's because I have no other choice. The Deco x73 just won't let me connect to networked devices any other way. And why? I have no idea but mesh wifi 6 is a broken technology. Sure I can connect to it with my phone using the app but rebooting, etc, etc doesn't fix the constant and ongoing network issues. I won't be buying a TP-Link product next time. The failure of Wifi 6 may not be their issue but it's a failure none the less and charging good money for the latest and greatest only for it to be a complete an utter pain isn't good enough.
The whole TP-Link support team was excellent and Daria did a great job of getting everything finalised and working in an efficient and professional manner
Novia waa extremely helpful and able to resolve my issue. She was patient and clear with instructions. All working now which is fantastic.
The app seems to work well, but there are no instructions on how to use this to connect to a fibre network, and the app did not provide any options; when I reset it and connected to the WAN output from my NBN box it just did nothing; works fine as a wifi mesh but the modem settings appear inaccessible from the app - I guess I'll have to try a Cat… Read more
6 cable direct into a PC. I would have thought choosing between an ADSL connection and a fibre WAN would be the most fundamental setting, but I can't see this info anywhere.
Great router – So easy to set up, took only minutes. Great speed and coverage.

Expected great things, but the Mbps was lower than my older $100 router – I purchased this router based on other people's reviews and also wanting to invest in MESH technology. The purchase was made because the router we had, provided by our nbn provider, died. Whilst it was easy to set up we get lower Mbps using this router vs the old one. We contacted TP-link who asked for diagnostics, which we provided.… Read more
Interestingly the beta version of the firmware I had to download led to a better Mbps than the official one. The most we get using the official firmware is 40Mbps. We got 48 Mbps with the old router and with the beta firmware we managed to get 44 Mbps. The official line from TP-link was that they couldn't help us get back to 48 Mbps.
We had an nbn technician come to the house and he could see we could get 80 Mbps. We are on a 50/20 plan and he could see it being throttled to 60 Mbps. The router though was not letting us get more than 40 Mbps.
So a disappointing purchase.

People in the comments are exaggerating – For those giving it a low star rating: if you don’t know how to use an app (which I found to be so incredibly basic) then you shouldn’t even touch the internet. A monkey could install this. You just have to plug in and answer a few questions on the app and away you go. In addition, the app gives you more control as well in the palm of your hands, literally. DECO X73-DSL – Worst TP-link product i ever bought. *too-costly *requires an app to be setup as connecting a normal computer gives no DHCP address -no web interface from what i can see *after setup the wireless network was worse than my VR600V router - constant dropouts with wireless *not functionly related but looks very ugly and an eyesore. *power cable was… Read more
extremely thin - very low quality
Simply put you can do better tp-link and so many of your other products do the functions of this failure of a device.
This is perfect! Can’t live without it! – We must have about 15 devices that connect to the internet between all of the Alexa's, home automation etc. Our old router from the ISP was struggling with that many devices and would keep booting devices off of the network as it wasn't able to manage that many devices. But the biggest issue was super slow internet speeds. So I purchased deco… Read more
x73-DSL and have been so impressed. Now have much better wifi coverage over the whole house, much faster internet speeds and all our devices are able to stay connected to the network all of the time. Super happy. I haven't needed to get any help with this product though, it was easy enough to set up on my own.

Best Router I've Had To Date – I am so impressed with the router and with the customer support from TP-Link. Since purchasing it, I have had no downtime at all or random dropouts. The range is fantastic for where my office is compared to where my phone line is located. Highly recommended! Show details

A modem that cannot be used without an app and registration! Stuff that! – I recently bought a new modem based on a variety of reviews which suggested it to be a great product. The one piece of information they all left out was that the device cannot be used without installing an app on your phone and, guess what, you also have to register! Talk about big brother! I'm used to being able to connect my laptop and… Read more
configure the device via a web browser. If this were still an option I'd be fine with that but, according to their support people, it is not - so I don't want their modem.
So I've returned this piece of garbage to the store for a refund and will never buy another tp-link product again.
Zero stars - if I could
