Great BBQ. Have done some mean Briskets for crowds. Use for finishing sous-vide rump caps getting 5 star reviews. Is now 3 years old. Has some issues with temperature settings being touchy but overall is very good. and would recommend. Pellets are expensive.. Also find that recipes always take much longer than stated. but if use in conjunction with meater probe or similar you can work it. Show details
Traeger lifestyle – The best thing I have ever bought it is life changing don’t know how I ate food without it Show details
Great BBQ – After extensive research on offset smokers, I opted for a pellet grill and seized the opportunity during Black Friday when Barbeque Galore offered a 20% discount on the Traeger "Pro 22" Pellet Grill. The assembly process, a joint effort with my son, was smooth, although I recommend having at least two people for the task. The well-labeled pieces… Read more
and comprehensive instructions, complete with a humorous timeline based on the number of drinks consumed during assembly, made the construction process enjoyable. It took us approximately an hour and a half, and the use of the cardboard packing as a protective work surface was a clever touch, especially when attaching the legs. Post-assembly, the Pro 22 underwent seasoning, guided by clear instructions, taking about an hour to ensure it was ready for its inaugural cook. I chose a 16-hour slow-cooked four-kilo brisket, well-prepared thanks to prior research on YouTube. While I encountered a minor temperature setting dilemma—forced to choose between 180 and 220 degrees Fahrenheit for a target of 200 degrees—my workaround involved starting at 180 degrees overnight and adjusting in the morning. The use of internal temperature probes ensured precision. The result? One of the best briskets I've ever cooked. Although the next model offers improved temperature control for an additional $600, the Pro 22's performance is satisfactory for the price. While acknowledging the pellet expenses, I'm eager to repeat the experience. In summary, the Traeger "Pro 22" Pellet Grill is an excellent entry-level BBQ equipment. Its solid construction, user-friendly design, and easy cleaning process make it a worthwhile investment. A helpful tip is to use aluminum foil under the grill and in the drip bucket for added convenience. Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase.
Was great – This was once a mighty grill that produced wonderful meats, it's still does but the main feature I loved had been destroyed, the app, this was awesome, select a recipe and your grill does the rest, or like myself turn on the grill and go to work and adjust temps at work an get the missus at home to keep the pellets topped up. Now the app is near… Read more
completely useless after half an hour it kicks you out and claims it can't find the grill so you gotta close it completely and reload it, then whatever temp/time you set it always sets it either above or below it. I could save recipes and leave notes for myself, gone. Now this is just any other ordinary pellet smoker, don't waste your money on traeger branding, they simply don't deliver
Three Year Review – I purchased my traeger from Bbqs Galore in August 2018. I have been bbq'ing for over a decade and consider myself a smoke master. This was the first pellet grill I have ever owned. It is a reliable and easy to use smoker. You can set and forget and the food always comes out perfect. I have done almost 500 cooks on it and whether you are… Read more
smoking a brisket or grilling lamb chops, the end result is tasty. I can do 10 racks of beef ribs at the same time so the space is really good.
The cleaning process is simple and you should always foil the drip tray otherwise you will have to put in some elbow grease to get it clean.
The only negatives are as follows: Only one place sells pellets and so the price continues to rise. I used to buy original traeger pellets for $25 for a 9kg bag, but now it is $40.
The temp probes are not as accurate and so if you are trying to meet a specific target it is best to get a separate probe to monitor via wifi.
Amazing flavour Simple to use – Well built bit of kit... Done everything from sausages, fish to Full 7kg briskets and plenty of smoked veggies after first couple of goes following instructions and you tube videos I started to get a feel for it now and its easy to produce amazing food ....... does require a lot of cleaning to keeping in good working order and it’s a low a slow… Read more
cooking style so don’t expect just to slap snags on you need to give it time, But its pretty stress free cooking considering the quality of food it produces and the amount of things you can do with it are amazing also treager app is awesome for recipes.
Make cheap meat taste great – This pellet feeder is great for all occasions, you can do awesome Brisket or just cook up some cheap sausages. With a great range of timber flavours and an easy operation, this is a easy to use to just make meat taste even better. I use it three to four times a week as just a wood fired BBQ. Recommend to all food lovers. Show details
Fantastic cooking - built to last – The first thing you notice about the Traeger grills is the robustness of them. These are rock-solid, robust bbqs. There is nothing fancy about the design, it looks simple and is simple to use but underlying that must be some pretty good engineering. This is a low'n'slow bbq so you must like smoke-cooked foods. I had only used bbq grills before… Read more
using this and my first efforts were not all that great but persistence certainly paid off. My last couple of attempts have been great now that I understand the process better. I found, after talking to someone who knows a lot more than me, that I needed to cook at a slightly higher temperature than in some of the literature and it has made a world of difference. If you are just getting into this type of cooking then these grills are a very user-friendly way to do so as all you need to do is set them up and go. They do not require the attention that some of the more advanced ones need so are great for 'lazy'/busy cooks. We don't use it all the time as we still use the more traditional grill type of bbq however I wouldn't be without it now.
The king of all BBQs – Hands down the best bbq I have ever owned. First, if you dont know what a pellet grill then looks it up on youtube. The concept of a pellet grill is not new, but the way Traeger has set it up is pure genius. For the first time I can smoke a whole 20 kg lamb or 8 racks of beef ribs in one go and I don't have to babysit the fire the whole day. … Read more
It is so simple that even an idiot can operate it. I have only had it a few weeks and I already love everything about it. The grease tray is the best part. Line it with alum foil and all the grease drips to a bucket sitting outiside the bbq. Mind you the price is a little high, not as expensive as a kamado ceramic grill but you could get the whole weber bbq series and still have change left over for the price of this unit. The pellets will run you back $29 for 9kg bag and last between 3 - 10 cooks.
But if you want a smoke with all the bells and whistles but dont want to have to live the caveman experience everytime you want to smoke some meat, this is the bbq for you.
Plug it in, set the temperate, fill the pellets and check back when your timer is ready. Comes with 2 temp probes. I got it as a package with a front folding shelfs (very useful), full cover and chicken throne for $1900 from the only authorised dealer in Australia
