in the morning to then be told it would not be available until 3pm. I was offered a dented, scratched and old car in its place that was totally unsuitable. When I called through to the management the next day I was told it had never been confirmed and blamed me for the error. When I proved it had been confirmed for that specific vehicle I was then told that they were able to give me any car that was there. Why even bother having a reservation system? This company used to be good but are now terrible. I have never felt compelled to write a review but now feel I should warn people after several very poor experiences. Their opening hours may be better than others but that comes at a risk that is too high to take. The fleet is too old and damaged and any complaint is handled in a very unprofessional manner. Avoid.

Disgusting – Takes over a week to return your deposit ($1000) they are in no rush to hand back your bond they make excuses why it’s not been done yet I will be taking it further as I need that money back to pay rent at the new house but they don’t care 0 stars !!! Do not use - they take credit card surcharge on deposit that should be returned in full – ired van through third party website, turn up to collect and $1,000 is charged to credit card, rather than a security/hold being taken on the card (like any other car hire company would do). We say, we aren’t making a payment to you, it’s a bond/deposit so there is no purchase from you and thus how can there possibly be a surcharge. Called to discuss and the rudeness and unprofessional of the staff is unbelievable. Do not use this company, they charge a credit card surcharge on a deposit that is returned to you! Unbelievable! This is illegal as the surcharge is 100% of the cost we owed as we owed Turnbull nothing - it exceeds the surcharge limit 50 times over pursuant to the credit card surcharge rules enforced by the ACCC. We will now be challenging through our credit card company. Turnbull - you cannot charge a credit card surcharge on a deposit that is returned - it’s that simple. Please do the right thing and return the money.

They will rip you off in the name of damage – Hired a van for 2 days. Little bit of paint came off from lower rear bumper. Got charged $200. It shouldn't take no more than $50. no one charge to repair under the bumper paints. Big mistake if you are trying to save $10 /$20 by hiring from Turnbulls hire. BIG LIAR – Turnbulls hire is a BIG LIAR. I return the van in a good condition and haven't hear anything back from them. After a week , I email them to chase up my deposit, they advised i damaged the van and not getting my $1,000 deposit back. They show me the video which is they can;t prove anything. NEVER EVER RENT FROM them, they are a BIG SCAMMER.

When I rung to complain to management I was not allowed their name and was told to call back.

I have since emailed and no acknowledgment of receipt of email. I have rung several times and was told management not in the office.

It has been a month since hireage and still no response.

I would not recommend anyone hiring from this company.

Our real problem came the day of return. At 9:30am we called the office asking whether or not we could keep the car for an extra hour or two and if it would incur an extra charge. We were told no, that our car would not be leaving the shop floor so it wouldn’t be a problem. We dropped the car back at 1:30pm. A week later we were charged $109.31 from the credit card.. after 10+ phone calls, numerous emails and no answers today (3 weeks later) that we would only be refunded $45.12 due to the fact we were charged another whole day hire.

the car itself was OK, but nothing special. they have been the cheapest, I have to say.

another time when I was trying to rent with them, I have booked the car through the web site, and later through Expedia. I could easily book both times, but they then came back to me, saying they wouldn't have any cars. they are either seriously disorganized and their booking system doesn't reflect what they can offer. or they are looking for higher prices and use the low prices just to ignite initial interest.

I can only recommend to stay away from them, at least from their Melbourne airport office.

Great product, communication, service and price – I used Turnbulls to hire a van for a week to accommodate furniture pick up in Sydney. The staff were helpful and prompt, the prices competitive and the delivery/ collection process seamless. I was very impressed and will be using them again.

Arrogant and money hungry – Stay away from Turnbulls. If everything goes perfectly then the office efficiency will satisfy you, but the management is the worst I have come across. Could not believe their arrogance and self interested attitude. There are plenty of other companies out there to consider that care about their integrity and thee customers. Steer clear! Office efficiency Management attitude when dealing with problems.
