Shop around! I should've shopped around for other brands – On paper, this monitor looks great but in reality, it is a bit of a dud. Purchased in March this year and before the start of April, we'd already returned it to the store to exchange it for another unit. The first unit took 12 hours to charge and would be flat in less than 30 minutes and the signal would continuously drop's out. The… Read more
replacement unit shuts itself off and loosed signal randomly and the most frustrating part is when our 12-month-old cries we cannot hear him on the monitor.
My pain point is the store I purchased it from has gone into receivership and will not accept returns, refunds or replacements and have advised me that Uniden will handle the warranty repairs.
To sum it up I've contacted Uniden and 3 day's later I'm still waiting on confirmation on what I need to do with the unit.

I'm in the next room
Battery charge doesnt last long on device
Or the monitor
The voice isnt as clear when you talk
But as I said good value for money
Some pros, some cons, several faults already, and bad customer service – Pros: - good picture quality incl night vision - good wide viewing angle, able to see a good portion of the room - very good options for attaching and positioning the camera - good enough battery life - good enough range - good temperature range for sensor and alert (other monitors have a very limited display of temperature, e.g. only show… Read more
“h” or “l” if temperatures are above 29 or below 17 – useless in hot Aussie summers and cold winters)
- clock on the display (on other monitors, how often did I have to check the monitor during the night, then fumble for the alarm clock to see the time)
Cons:
- you can't turn off the button beep on the parent unit.
- the camera beeps when being turned on/off, loud enough to disturb a sleeping baby
- no cradle for charging the parent unit
- The sound quality of the talk-back feature isn't great, it's so croaky that our toddler has trouble understanding what we're saying.
- you can't manually turn the screen on or off (on other monitors often called “sleep” mode). To turn the screen off, you have to go into the menu to select the power saving mode and wait two minutes.
- VOX sensitivity levels are crude (only “high” and “low”) and not sensitive enough. On the “high” setting the baby has to cry a fair bit for the screen to come on.
Somehow the last two issues together mean that I keep having to fumble around in the menu every night, turning the power saving mode on/off or turning the screen on again manually, just to be able to keep an eye on my kids going to sleep while not running the battery down too fast.
Worth knowing:
- sound is always transmitted. Unlike other baby monitors that I previously used, the VOX feature only controls when the screen comes on, not when the sound comes on.
I am experiencing two faults already:
- When in scan mode (switching between several cameras) and with activated power saving mode, the monitor would only be activated from the room where it went into sleep mode on. If the child in the other room was crying, the monitor does not come on. In the Q&A section somebody else reported the same issue, so seems common enough.
- The lullaby function can normally be operated from the parent unit, however recently that stopped working. In my case, I like to turn on the lullaby directly on the camera when I put the baby to sleep. Once asleep, I want to turn it off from the parent unit. However, when I press the button on the parent unit, the lullaby on the second camera starts playing!
Would I buy it again?
No, probably not. Too many issues straight off the bat. What's worse, the customer support has been terrible so far and have now stopped responding to my emails.
I would probably try the Motorola MBP36 instead
Excellent product – We had the dual monitor for our twins and it worked perfectly. Quality of images is very good, even with night vision, picks up any little sound and we didn't have any problem at all with it. Plus you get the temperature measure and can play lullabies for the babies and talk to them from another room. Very useful and easy to use.
