Just don’t buy – So many things wrong with this, it’s not even worth getting into. Just don’t buy. I’m surprised it’s still on the market because it’s just a failure in every way possible.
I do NOT recommend!! – When you turn it on it makes a very loud beep sound that wakes baby up. The battery life is useless lasting at most 5 hours otherwise you need both the camera and the hand hold plugged in constantly. The range is also terrible as we could be just in the next room and it says out of range. Such a complete waste of money! Show details

Connectivity and reliability issues – We bought this unit 15 months ago. Connectivity was always an issue. We found we had to be within 5-8 metres of the camera meaning we couldn't go outside of our living room as the unit was in the bedroom on the other side of the wall. The last three months, random lines would appear on the screen. They would come on, the screen would go black… Read more
for a second, then the unit would be back to normal. This week, the screen went completely white. There is still sound but no display.
I contacted Uniden who advised me that the unit only had a 12 month warranty and we would need to pay for the unit to be repaired. Repairs start at $55 and we would also need to pay for postage to and from the factory over east. They could not advise of a repair cost just that they start at $55 and can go up based on the repair.
I could understand the unit breaking if it was thrown around or mistreated however, it has never been dropped and has always been taken care of. Based on these issues, we will be getting a new unit that is not uniden. Paying $150 every year for a new unit because the old one breaks just outside of warranty each time is not viable.

Great, until it broke – The Camera: Day & Night visual quality is great. It has a good field-of-view and having the large clip even let you use it on thin sided cotts/beds. The infra-red ring lights are subtle that they don't standout and distract. The Battery lasts 6-8hrs when no audio. Warning: Camera will beep loudly when run flat, waking any sleeping baby up. Always… Read more · 1
keep plugged in to power when used for nightly sleep monitoring. The Audio: Camera to monitor is great. Even on the lowest volume you can clearly hear the important movements, coughs and... farts your baby makes. Monitor-to-camera, audio is typical of a cheap walkie-talkie. quality isn't great, so don't expect to use it to sing or lul your baby to sleep. Its perfect for just talking parent to parent when the baby is awake for informational use. Like "I'm glad I can't smell that from here"- says dad from the kitchen. ;) The Monitor: Screen size/quality is good, even from across a small room or from 1 side of a king bed to another. A parent can look over and see enough details even in night mode and lowest brightness, to know what they are looking at, e.g baby face up or down. night mode on this camera was surprisingly good for the price. Day time is even better. Audio from camera is good quality, clean and clear with enough pitch and depth that you can even hear neighbors dogs barking, and be able to make out which dog it is (if your normally familiar with it to the ear). Voices and breathing is even easy to pickup and listen to on lowest volume.
The Bad news: After just 5 months, the power button on the monitor broke, freely moving in/out without making contact with the electronic button inside. See Video for demonstration of broken button.
Love this monitor! – I love this monitor, I recommend it to all my friends. I tried 3 monitors prior to purchasing this one which all had poor quality sound (which admittedly were cheapos) I wish I had have just bought this straight up. Great value for money, I purchased on sale for $100 and have been using this monitor daily for 2 years now for every nap and over… Read more
night sleep and it has never failed me. Perfect sound - no static or screeching like the others I had tried.
I read some complaints about the power on button being loud on the camera unit, which is true but I leave mine plugged into power and switched on all the time so it's not an issue as I don't often need to move the camera.
The battery charge on the parent unit lasts around 6 hours, which I think is very good - again we leave it plugged into power over night.
The battery charge on the camera unit has decreased over time and I would now estimate it now to last around 90-120mins. In saying that, it's not often I would be using the camera in a location where it cannot be plugged into power unless he has fallen asleep in the car, I have been known to park in the garage and set the monitor up in there while I go inside and continue general motherly activities (and yes I am wary of the heat) Note that many baby monitors don't have a battery in the camera at all.
The range is very good, I have tested it up to around 100m.
The only thing I wish it had is a light of some sort like an oricom one I had at one stage so I could see where I was going when making my way into the nursery in the dark.
It's OK, but not great – Initially we thought this was a great value basic video monitor. However, the more we used it, the more we realised it has some pretty bad design faults! It comes with a 12 month warranty, and it broke about 14 months after we bought it - the power button on the camera will not work so we simply can't turn it on anymore so it's now useless. … Read more
Pros:
Easy set-up
Great picture
The camera clip is great to attach the camera to the cot
The range is also quite good
Cons:
It broke 2 months after the warranty ran out and we cannot use it anymore.
Loud, clicky buttons that will wake up anyone else in the room if you need to adjust volume etc.
Loud beep on camera unit if it runs out of charge or you turn it off manually (which will wake up the baby)
Always had to have the camera plugged into the power as it would lose it's charge after about 2 hours and then BEEP!
You can't turn off the screen. Only option is to select power save mode and it will turn off after 2mins.
Screen is supposed to be sound activated, but it doesn't come on unless baby is very crying loudly.
We've had to go and buy a new one after 14 months, so because of that and all the cons above, we DEFINITELY wouldn't buy it again. Cheap for a reason.

Happy with it – I purchased this monitor souly for the fact it can clip onto the side of the cot as we have no where to sit a monitor, It looked great and worked straight out of the box, so no set up required so i was pleased with my choice. however after about a week the monitor would always say out of range even when in the same room. i contacted uniden but… Read more · 1
none of their troubleshooting solutions worked and after some research i found similar reviews and it seemed to be common issue. i returned it to the place of purchase and they offered a replacement. i agreed and gave it another go. glad i did because the new one hasn't missed a beat. its nice and clear and has a good rage. my son also loves the inbuilt lullabys- helps drown out his loud siblings. anyways, i thought i would share my experience incase others had issues with a dud. im happy with my purchase for the price
The best one for the price – Great video/sound quality for the price and has a very decent range. The monitor battery doesn't last long when unplugged (4 to 5 hours max). I bought mine in 2015. Now (2019) we are waiting for the second baby, I replaced the batteries (batteries last a couple of years and took me some time to find them) and we are ready again :) Show details · 1
It's good provided you've got access to a power source – I purchased this in recommendation of a friend and it's good but I would do my own research next time. It's got great picture quality and the sound is nice and clear however two other important parts are a pain. The charge doesn't last long on either unit so unless you've got it set up with a power source nearby you'll have to keep charging it.… Read more
The most annoying downside for me is the loudness of the camera when you turn it on. It's woken up my baby quite a few times! Also the video can go in and out of range even though I'm only in the next room.
I like that it's portable and the camera is easy to attach to a variety of items - I've had it on a bed head, portable bassinet, lamp etc. Can't complain too much given the price, $100 on sale.

Second monitor will not pair – We have just set up a BW5151R and the main camera works. Trying to pair the second camera (B3000) and keeps saying “device is not bound”. I am charging the unit, pressing the “pair” Button and tried the reset button. There are no lights on the front of the monitor just green charging and green power on button. Please help as it’s brand new out of the box!
Disappointing – Was great for the first week or so then started saying out of range when I could be in same room. Image flickered on only occasionally. Very disappointed. Don't recommend. Show details
Uniden BW3001 - I do NOT recommend! – Very disappointed in the camera battery life. (6hrs if we're lucky!) I have wireless security cameras around my house which last for months and are regularly being activated (day & night). Some folks have said "just leave it plugged in" but this results in a danger to children regarding the thin power cord and I would be cautious regarding the… Read more
potential overheating & fire hazard due to the camera being constantly plugged in to its power supply. I also note that there is insufficient information (i.e. none) on the packaging that covers off the short battery life of the camera or monitor. Lastly, the beep noise from turning the camera on is very loud and jarring. We're trying to keep babies asleep here, not wake them up! :-( On the other hand the camera view, options and range were great. However, overall I'm very disappointed that Uniden have made and are selling such an inferior product. I do NOT recommend!

Great value – I have had 3 of this monitor over the last 7 years ans never had any issues with any of them. The first one the camera was broken by baby #1 (because we had left it in a stupid place after travelling) uniden replaced it and as it was in warranty. 2nd monitor worked perfectly for 3 years until baby #2 had grown put of it and I sold it as we weren't… Read more
planning anymore children. 3rd monitor bought when baby #3 arrived and ghastly been used for 10 months, no issues. The newest one does have better range I feel but all were quite reasonable. (800m2 block on cul-de-sac and works well up the street while watching older kids ride bikes) The parent monitor lasts all day unplugged on power saving mode. The camera lasts unplugged from power for a few hours, I've used it to nap baby in porta cot while visiting friends and now having to take the power supply. I think if you're expecting the camera to compare to a security camera, you're expecting too much tbh, most baby monitors require power supply at all times. There are not many around with rechargable batteries. The thermostat is probably not too accurate but that's not a concern to me really. I keep on vol 1 at all times until I'm outdoors and it's loud enough for me to hear baby wake while I'm going about my day, but not too loud that I can't sleep of a night. We play white noise in baby's bedroom, so naturally that can be heard through the monitor which hubby found difficult to adjust to sleeping with. But that's not sound from the camera itself. I have heard people complain if the parent monitor losing date and time settings - that only occurs if you allow the parent monitor battery to go flat. I love the monitor, I love the rechargeable battery, the clip on the camera, the audio and picture quality, its easy to use. I've recommended to several friends, all of who also love it. I almost feel like I should be hitting uniden up for commission the way I talk up this monitor tbh, I love it that much ha!

Says out if range constantly – Says out if range constantly. I've woken up in the middle of the night To it saying out of range 3 times now. Luckily my baby was asleep still or I wouldn't have known he was awake because this monitor doesn't work 70% if the time. It works if Ur monitor is literally touching the camera that's it. DO NOT BUY. Show details
Faulty Camera Design - Broken Camera Mount – I have 4 Uniden BW-3000 cameras, and now have two broken cameras due to the mounts being broken (in the same spot!) clearly a design failure. Out of Warranty, so Uniden want to charge me $55 PER Camera to have repaired. Better value to buy a whole new camera unit. However this time, I will not buy Uniden, and will buy another brand. Terrible customer service, and only wanting more money. Show details
Camera doesnt work – I've tried every troubleshooting method possible but the camera just does not work. Audio is ok, but there is no image on the camera. I've tried factory reset , pairing the camera, turning it on and off. I thought it might be a signal strength issue but it wont even work when the camera and monitor are even in the same room. I just want a monitor to work!! Show details

Broke just as warranty ran out – Too loud when you turn on power, has to be plugged into power source 24/7 and power button broken a month after warranty ran out waste of money will not be buying these brand again ever Show details
Don’t waste your money!!! – Worst monitor, unreliable and rubbish to setup. Has to be plugged in 24/7 and the lead to the monitor is very loose so with even the smallest of knocks the lead will fall out and you’ll lose power within 30 minutes. The camera is on a large clip and doesn’t manoeuvre very well and has actually snapped off too. The range is pretty poor too, we… Read more
took this monitor away with us and couldn’t use it when the baby was upstairs and we were in the room directly below her room.
Don’t bother with this one!!

Shop around! I should've shopped around for other brands – On paper, this monitor looks great but in reality, it is a bit of a dud. Purchased in March this year and before the start of April, we'd already returned it to the store to exchange it for another unit. The first unit took 12 hours to charge and would be flat in less than 30 minutes and the signal would continuously drop's out. The… Read more
replacement unit shuts itself off and loosed signal randomly and the most frustrating part is when our 12-month-old cries we cannot hear him on the monitor.
My pain point is the store I purchased it from has gone into receivership and will not accept returns, refunds or replacements and have advised me that Uniden will handle the warranty repairs.
To sum it up I've contacted Uniden and 3 day's later I'm still waiting on confirmation on what I need to do with the unit.
Awful! – Terrible. We have already had to return twice. Issues with power button getting stuck the first time and now Issues with monitor picking up a range more than 5metres. We have tried resetting reconfiguring. Don’t bother. We’ll be looking for a new monitor that will be safer for our little one during the night.
Average and annoying – Monitor picture is clear and that's about it. Battery doesn't last long at all. The buttons to turn on make a really loud beep sound which wakes baby up so you have to turn it on in another room. On one occasion the night light on the camera randomly turned on and woke baby. Another occasion the music started playing our of the blue and I couldn't… Read more
stop it or even turn the camera off at all. I won't bother using it again and it's only been used three times.
Didn't last more than half a day! – I was quite impressed by the quality of the picture on this monitor and the range was good too (took it outside 2 storey house). The first night I owned it, the monitor said "out of range" so I checked the main unit and it appeared to be off which was strange as it had been switched on an hour earlier. The charging light was lit up green yet I… Read more
could not turn the power button on! I left it over night and tried resetting it but the power would not come on despite being connected to mains power! The unit felt very hot as well so I can only assume the battery self destructed! Needless to say it was returned to the store less than 24 hours after purchasing. Would never buy this brand again.
Good monitor only a few down falls – Brought this monitor a month ago on special for 150 which was suppose to be great for the money Pros Easily clips onto anything and can take anywhere Picture quality is quite good Good zooming Cons Button is to loud to turn on so I take it out the room turn it on the put it back if baby is sleeping Out of range all the time even when… Read more · 1
I'm in the next room
Battery charge doesnt last long on device
Or the monitor
The voice isnt as clear when you talk
But as I said good value for money
Great monitor at a great price – Great monitor at a great price, picture and sound quality is amazing, best I've seen yet. Only issues I have had is lullabies have stopped working, as to be expected after such long use, will be buying another when this one finally breaks. A VOX function would be a bonus, the powersaving mode still puts out background noise
Great for the first few months – I originally bought this monitor when my child was born, it was wonderful, but then one day it turned off and it broke so cannot be turned back on :( We bought another one (the same) and it lasted alot longer but the sound no longer works, but got probably a year or so out of it. Still use it for image but unfortunately no sound! Am tempted to… Read more
buy it again as it is the only decent monitor I've seen!
Great picture quality and sound was good until it stopped working!
Great but has its problems – Cannot fault the picture and sound quality on this monitor. Perfect for keeping an eye on Bub. Until, like others said the battery gives up. Ours was only 4 months old when the battery started to play up. Now it can only be off charge for 10 seconds before its dead. Not ideal but it still works perfect apart from that.
Okay monitor for the price – Basic video monitor that does the job but has a few flaws. Reasonable product for the price but I would pay more for a better monitor if I purchased another one. + good camera quality in day and night + very easy set up + simple and easy to use + seems to have a good range although my house isn't very big + monitor unit is a good size to… Read more

+ handy having temp display
- on/off button on camera makes a very loud BEEP which wakes the baby!
- no mute button. Have to lower volume to 0. Buttons are quite noisy.
- bright screen and no way to dim
- battery life isn't great (one charge lasts approx 2-3 hours).
Good value for the price – Very happy with this product, definitely recommend. Pros. *Very simple to setup. *Great range, i live in a 3 story unit and it works outside at my car. *Night light not too bright. *Good picture quality night and day. *Camera clip is awesome! Just clip on the side of the cot and good to go. Cons. *Talk back feature is the only thing that lets this product down, my voice is very muffled talking to my baby.
Monitor OK for my needs – After weeks and weeks of research I finally chose this model the Uniden BW3100 mainly because the baby was due any day and I was able to get it for free with my flybuys points. Pros: The monitor has a really good screen, the colours are great and the night mode is awesome. I didn't think it would be so clear at night but it really is good. The… Read more
temp indicator is pretty spot on, I have a Groegg in the room and the monitor always has the same temp listed as the Groegg.
There is a good selection of lullabys
Range is pretty good, I have a two story home, lounge room is way over the other side of the house downstairs to baby's room and it gets a good signal.
Cons:
The monitor screen flashes black pretty regularly, only for a second but it can get annoying.
The screen is VERY bright at night, it lights up my whole room.
Turning the camera on in the baby's room makes a VERY loud beep that causes the baby to wake or stir - VERY ANNOYING! So I have to make sure it is on before I put the baby to sleep or try to settle her.
Overall so far (we've been using it for 5 weeks) I'm pretty happy with this monitor. I don't generally have the sound up on it because I can watch her on the screen and hear her normally from my bedroom at night so don't need it on to hear her cry so can't comment on the sound issues that other people have had. But the screen is so good that I'm happy with my purchase.
Some pros, some cons, several faults already, and bad customer service – Pros: - good picture quality incl night vision - good wide viewing angle, able to see a good portion of the room - very good options for attaching and positioning the camera - good enough battery life - good enough range - good temperature range for sensor and alert (other monitors have a very limited display of temperature, e.g. only show… Read more
“h” or “l” if temperatures are above 29 or below 17 – useless in hot Aussie summers and cold winters)
- clock on the display (on other monitors, how often did I have to check the monitor during the night, then fumble for the alarm clock to see the time)
Cons:
- you can't turn off the button beep on the parent unit.
- the camera beeps when being turned on/off, loud enough to disturb a sleeping baby
- no cradle for charging the parent unit
- The sound quality of the talk-back feature isn't great, it's so croaky that our toddler has trouble understanding what we're saying.
- you can't manually turn the screen on or off (on other monitors often called “sleep” mode). To turn the screen off, you have to go into the menu to select the power saving mode and wait two minutes.
- VOX sensitivity levels are crude (only “high” and “low”) and not sensitive enough. On the “high” setting the baby has to cry a fair bit for the screen to come on.
Somehow the last two issues together mean that I keep having to fumble around in the menu every night, turning the power saving mode on/off or turning the screen on again manually, just to be able to keep an eye on my kids going to sleep while not running the battery down too fast.
Worth knowing:
- sound is always transmitted. Unlike other baby monitors that I previously used, the VOX feature only controls when the screen comes on, not when the sound comes on.
I am experiencing two faults already:
- When in scan mode (switching between several cameras) and with activated power saving mode, the monitor would only be activated from the room where it went into sleep mode on. If the child in the other room was crying, the monitor does not come on. In the Q&A section somebody else reported the same issue, so seems common enough.
- The lullaby function can normally be operated from the parent unit, however recently that stopped working. In my case, I like to turn on the lullaby directly on the camera when I put the baby to sleep. Once asleep, I want to turn it off from the parent unit. However, when I press the button on the parent unit, the lullaby on the second camera starts playing!
Would I buy it again?
No, probably not. Too many issues straight off the bat. What's worse, the customer support has been terrible so far and have now stopped responding to my emails.
I would probably try the Motorola MBP36 instead
Worst baby monitor – Only works in range within 1 metre direct line of sight. Out of range even if you turn around and block by your body.
