4 days of power outage without any notification. Came home from work and realised there was no power and saw a letter of notification by the door step. No prior warning whatsoever for people to prepare for. This also happened on a Friday so finding an electrician over the weekend was difficult near impossible, which further delayed the issue being fixed. Extremely terrible customer service. Would give -1 stars if i could. Show details

No notice for planned power outage – So I plan a trip (2 hours driving) to my Melbourne flat, having arranged both aircon service and sparkie work, and THE DAY BEFORE they send a "reminder" that the power will be off all that day. The only problem is that they never sent the notice in the first place. How does that constitute caring about your customer? Show details
Tree butcherer – The dog started barking indicating someone was out front of the property. I walked outside and there is this guy (Jason) with a chainsaw ripping into my ornamental cherry tree (on my property). He had already cut half the canopy away. I ran up to him and asked him what on earth he was doing. He stated he works for United Energy and was cutting… Read more
branches away from the powerlines. A fierce debate ensued, where I asked him why did he start cutting my tree without notification / ring doorbell / door knock? He said United Energy put notification in my letterbox. We did not receive any notification in the mailbox, nor an email or telephone call. I told him he'd butchered my tree. I stated that the tree is 30 years old and has never been cut back so severely. The last time the tree was cut back 2 years ago they only took down small branches. He had cut down branches 10cm in diameter (7-8 years old). I asked him if he was a professional arborist. He said yes, but I knew this was a total fabrication, given the way he was ripping into the branches from the footpath. He should have been in the cherrypicker. These mature tree branches were not near the power lines, although a few small ones were (within 3 metres). I now have what was once a spectacular tree, with only half a canopy. It's early spring, so this fellow cut off all my cherry blossom flowers. To say I'm angry is a gross understatement. The damage has been done, it will now take 10 years for the tree to grow back with a balanced canopy. I will continue the complaints process as I have it all on security camera. No matter where this complaint goes, I will not rest until United Energy account for such barbarism / thuggish behaviour.
United Energy Mafia – I have had a quote today from.United Energy to provide a electric connection pit installed out side my home as we cannot have overhead wires. The power pole is directly outside my property in Rye vic . I have been quoted nearly $10 .000 thousand dollars for a general pit. It is not exculisive for me just a street pit for everyone . What the hell… Read more

STOP THESE ENDLESS PLANNED OUTAGES THAT DON'T HAPPEN – I live and work in Elwood, Melbourne... I have been notified 5 times about planned outages in the past 3 months... each time I arrange to work somewhere else and every single time the outage is cancelled just before the time. This causes great disruption. Sort it out and get the work done. If you must, do it on a nweekend. Show details
Terrible organisation with no consideration for the public – Planned outtages run for 8 hours, covering large areas that could easily be divided up into smaller areas that inconvenience the public far less. Show details
Difficult and inefficient.Hard to reason with! – 28-31 October we had no power. This was acknowledged by sms to ourselves and a neighbour. As power companies supposedly pay 90.00 a day as compensation,we expected a credit. We were given one 90.00 although our neighbour was given 270.00 and promised another 90.00. United Energy denied there had been an outage(although it was quite a significan area… Read more
of Blackburn and we had the proof). Now they are ignoring us altogether. Is this a matter for the ombudsman?
United have limited power to homes due to blackouts, cant run my life support equipment or anything – As most would be aware we had heavy winds & storms Thursday night Friday morning. We had several power spikes including a 20 minute black out. All our neighbors have underground power supply however its only our house and the very old couple across the road that have very limited power as United has reduced power to our properties. Got a txt msg… Read more
on Friday 29/10/ 2021 6 pm in the afternoon stating power has been restored however we were still having constant surges & outages. As i am on life support as i require both oxygen & bi pap machines whilst sleeping United is aware of this as i am a registered life support patient yet there rude customer service could not give a rats backside. Called again today 30/10/2021 they stated that power has been limited due to fault but will be back on by 6 pm tonight, reminded them on my health and life support, there response was go to a hospital or use a neighbors power supply. Only 2 issues as i tried explaining but they were not interested like that is not knew, hospital already advised me that due to the infection they will not assist me as i may catch covid & will not survive given my medical condition, nor can i pick up 1 of the machines i have recently been put on and hospital has not these new machines just yet. I have 12 batteries as back up and all flat now they take 4 hours each to charge and only get 2 hours use from each, i also have 2 size D oxygen bottles now empty thanks to United. We cant even run an asthma nebulous machine or our lights bathroom fan nothing that has a certain drain in power will work, not even gas heating as it has electric fan, cant cook cant do washing cant do anything. Received another txt msg tonight just after 6 pm from united again now saying power will be restored by 6 pm Sunday, by then everything in our 2 fridges & freezes will perish, even medication that is required to be at under 5 degrees at all times until 1 hour before use. These constant issues has stuffed up most out major electrical s as well & not so long ago when we had our last storms again they left us without power for 3 days yet all our neighbors had power as we all run off the exact same grid. Been on hold to there customer service whilst typing this for 2 hours now as my lungs will be starved off oxygen and as i use dialysis as well when sleeping i dare say the medical damage they will do cause there crews are just lazy slow workers enjoying the overtime doing nothing. Its the consumers getting ripped of in these events but if they think this is the last they will hear of this well have spoken to Cabrini health cause these power outages and spikes blew up the stand alone concentration unit valued at $290000.00 plus all the other computers that talk to 1 another also blew. even our smart meter is showing nothing on the screen so tells me the power we are getting is next to nothing. All this time we have spent in lock down these guys were still upgrading power stations sub stations & maintaining wires as they were showing ads on t.v, more they needed excuses to rip ppl so providers charge more. off Not good enough United & time class action is brought against you.
A disgrace – Power outage of nearly 23 hours due to a power surge that found the weak spot at a nearby power pole (flaming and sparking wires fell onto local distribution wires) and the street light near our house, and blacked out more than 100 local residences. Neighbours lost multiple appliances in the power surge. No information, no apology, no urgency,… Read more
no helpfulness from United. Just some self-serving twaddle copied out verbatim from their play-book. Only one crew was out trying to repair the fault for much of the time. This was two weeks ago and the street light that exploded has still not been fixed. They are very fortunate no-one seems to have been injured in the explosions at the power pole, the street light, and neighbours' exploding light fittings. They shrug it off and have told me "a bird interfered with our equipment". A bird. "Interfered"! Give me a break! The poles and wires are inadequately maintained by United, or "maintained" only when a failure occurs (which personally I would call a repair). An utter disgrace. And under some deal, no compensation will be paid till January....
TERRIBLE – This company is trash. The outages are constant and always take AT LEAST 6-7 hours to complete, mind you you go past any of the sites and you’ll notice absolutely no one do any work at all. May as well just rob us point blank in the street at this point. Thieves. Show details
Cutting off our business power 6 weeks early – Clearly do not know what day it is. Confirmed final reading 31st May, disconnected 8th April...what else can you say, clearly these people should not be working with electricity. All we have been offered is an apology, how will that recompense us for loss of business. Show details
revolting customers service !!! – Revolting customers service, It make you feel like living in a 3rd world country! Huge delay (5 hours delay) of reconnecting the powers and no notification at all! The customer service department is horrible. I would give zero star if i could! Show details
Find out how United Energy compares to other Energy Providers
Know better, choose better.
Street light – We report a street light faulty on 26/10/2018 to united energy on 132099,we were informed that it would be 7 business days, today is 09/11/2018 and nobody knows when it will be repaired, shame united energy shame.
Big bully – This is a nightmare. I rank it zero if they there is an option. My service provider was Origin and United was the supplier. I had to change my meter box due to extension and hence an appointment was made at 830am and 130pm on the same day to turn off and turn on the power. When the bill came, I had a shock of my life. I was charged more… Read more
than a thousand dollars for a simple job as above. This happened 4 months ago and it was still not resolved.
I refused payment until I verified what was incurred. Origin had claimed on many occasions United did not have a response. There was no breakdown of bills.
And when they finally did, United claimed that was the hours the tradies had recorded and client had to be charged accordingly.
In the whole incident, my sparky was on site. My first appointment was 830am and they turned up slightly after 8am, turn off the meter and left. Took them less than 15 minutes. Guess what ? I was charged from 745am to 830am.
The second appointment was 130pm as my sparky was not sure if the inspector could finish on time and deliberately choose a later time. He was pretry sure he would complete by 130pm. Guess what? I was charged from 1215pm to 130pm, a whole of 75 minutes for turning the meter on. At 1215, my sparky was still finishing up his work and the appointment was not due till 130pm. The tradies arrived early out of nowhere and started charging the clients for waiting or loafing in the car.
On both occasions, the tradies were here for less than 30 minutes. First appointment at 15 minutes and second appointment at 25 minutes.
As of now, United did not address why I was being charged prior to my appointment time. Nor did they verify if the tradies were indeed working or waiting. It did not take much common sense to realise what was happening on site despite having witnesses. They just insisted the notes were correct. No reason was given for charging me prior my appointment time.
Having a monopoly does not mean you can just anyhow charge your clients. As a big company, they are a big bully, bullying the consumers that had not choice but to depend on them. Explain yourself and explain your charges.
With my past records with Origin, I had never missed a single payment and I pay my dues on time always. However I am not an idiot and I will not pay for anything I did not consume, nor will I be paying for somebody's lunch time or waiting time.
I am still waiting for a reply. Until you can professionally explain the above discrepancies, I will not pay.
Horrible - 3rd world support – 6 outages during the week and on the hottest day of the year the power goes out for 2h30min so far with no eta on resolution... what do you do when there is a monopoly on Power. Complain well that helps...
United Energy fails to Connect Power – Our Electricity Provider promised we would have our Power connection by 15/11/2017. They submitted the work Order to United Energy and today we found that U/E don't even have the connection scheduled. We need power to begin our house construction and have Trades booked in to begin works. Without any power we will be again put behind and may lose… Read more
our Trades people. Every day we are not connected costs us. Not good enough from the company who control everything. No joy from the 5 phone calls we've made to try to resolve the problem and get our connection .
Friendly prompt service – United energy sent a staff to abolish my electricity meter after I applied online. I forgot to switch off my electricity switchboard and needed 30 min to get there to switch it off in order for the staff to remove the meter. the staff who came to my house was very polite and helpful. Blackout without notice – This company is one of company who managing electricity cabling. Electricity supplier to the whole seller (Energy Australia, Dodo, Momentum, Click Energy etc). So often at early morning 1am, 2am, 3am, they disconnected the electricity without notice, the food in the fridge melted. just annoying. It's not professional way to do the business in… Read more
Australia.
Unlike Yarra Water, they gave compensation to the clients. Remembered, we didn't get water for 5 hours, they gave around $90 credits as compensation.
If they working onsite, so many people seems unproductive to do the job.
I wonder if it's one factor, that they're not efficient enough so we have to pay for it?
