Best money I have ever spent – I have been using this machine for 3 years now and it has never once lost suction. Easy to clean filters and easy to dismantle the the main barrel and give a good clean. I have 2 cats and this vacuum keeps my carpets looking like new. Best vacuum I have ever purchased. I also recently purchased a cordless Vax blade pet pro and once again an… Read more

absolute winner. For those that say it has lost suction then you need to clean the filters, I do this at least once a week. Have only had to replace filters once and that was yesterday.

Most frustrating vacuum cleaner ever – Purchased this vacuum cleaner as Choice said it was comparable to Dyson. How wrong they were. Three plastic clips broke within three months rendering it almost useless. It overheats and stops within 20mins. Countless strings caught in the carpet head block it and stop it from spinning. Spend more time fixing and fiddling with this machine than… Read more

vacuuming. Advise anyone thinking of buying this product to steer clear. Poorly designed, manufacture and poor functionality. Now all this plastic has to go to landfill, what a waste! The fact that this is my first review on this website after years of coming here for others’ reviews should speak volumes in people’s decision about this product.

Belongs in the bin!! – Everything about this vac is hard! Parts & accessories are cheaply & badly designed, hard to attach and detach! Filtration system barely works so you're continuously breathing in fine dust. Filters are expensive & forever clogging up. Belongs in the bin!! Show details

Impressed the mother in law! – Easy to use and clean. It's not overly heavy and easy to wheel around the house. Power cleaner does a good job cleaning dog hair out of carpet. Needs better attachments though, like the long nozzle for down between car seats. Show details

Very poorly designed vacuum cleaner – This may be a good cleaner for pet hair on carpet but it doesn't do anything else very well. The power head makes it very heavy to handle. It constantly loses suction and I have to keep stopping to try and clean it out to get it working properly again. Unfortunately the odd design of the main canister means there is a central area that is… Read more

impossible to get access to and this has become now clogged with fine dust. Even worse design is the so-called 3-in-one tool - the small brush doesn't lock so you have to keep holding that with your hand. Also the brush is always on top of the crevice tool which means you can only actually get into a crevice that is no more than 4cm deep. So forget about jobs like getting down between car seats. This was my first and last experience with bagless vacuum cleaners - I'll be going back to good old bags after this.

The worst I have purchased – VCXPH1500, purchased one for myself and then two others for my son and daughter. What a dud, first my unit started to switch off due two motor over heating. Took it in under warranty but they didn't fix the fault. Stupid me should have taken it back but I didn't, enough stress in life at time and just didn't get around too it. Systematically the… Read more

other two failed for the exact same reason. This had to be a known problem but no fix from the manufacturer. That tells me a lot about the company and I would advise people to look elsewhere when shopping for products under this brand.

Great Machine! – The power head is amazing, made my dog/cat hair covered rug new again. My last VAX lasted 5 years and it was the bottom of the range, and this one has a 2 year warranty. The hard floor head it nice and simple, it doesn't have any buttons or switches on it to change from carpet to hard. Great on hard floors, even better on carpet. No problems with the vacuum cleaner tipping over and it also has a very long hose. Show details

Excellent Bang For Your Buck – I vacuumed using our Dyson DC08 Origin this morning, and felt it was time to look for a new machine as teh Dyson simply wasn't cutting it anymore. I jumped onto the Choice website, and based on their tested and recommended models which also achieved a score of 100% for pet hair removal, the Vax VX59 was the second best model listed. With a price… Read more

difference of around $1,000 between the Vax and the best model, the Vax was far more affordable and more widely available. So, I grabbed one from Bing Lee.

With 2 small short haired dogs, our house needs a vacuum on a regular basis, and after the first vacuum with the VX59, it was clear that our old machine was simply no longer up to the task. Bye bye Dyson.

The electric power head on the VX59 is fantastic, it combines the strong brush power of an upright vacuum with the easier mobility of a barrel. Instantly, the suction and the power head impressed me with their strength, and it was great to see how much was being lifted out of the carpet. The machine feels sturdy and very capable, is not loud, has a HEPA filter, and is easy to empty.

As I said in the title of this review, the VX59 offers very good bang for your buck.

Amazing performance for the price – Purchased from Bunnings for $269 to replace my Dyson Animal (the powerhead packed it in and a spare part costs as much as this tax). As my entire apartment is carpeted and my kids have mild asthma and dust mite sensitivity, this has helped greatly. The powerhead agitates the carpet and draws out the nasties. The chamber fills up quiet fast with… Read more ·  1

the amount of construction dust and general crappy Sydney air quality that makes its way into the apartment during the day when the windows are open.

A feature that would have been nice is adjustable suction levels like how a Miele or Wertheim has (mind you they are $700+)

Why are you reading this instead of going out and buying the VX59? – This is the second Vax "pet" vacuum that I have owned. I have black cats and off-white carpet, not the best combination I know. I shampoo the carpets once a year however within a week the black fur is obvious again. Before I bought the VX59 I was having to "sweep" my carpet with a stiff brush to try and remove the hair before I vacuumed. I looked… Read more

for cleaners with powerheads since my mother had one on her Electrolux back in the early 80s. Some of those powerhead cleaners cost more than my first car, but I saw the VX59 and it was available at Bunnings for less than three hundred dollars.

I read the instructions when I got it home (because the vacuum was pretty flash and I didn't want to damage it on it's maiden voyage) and I learned that the vacuum will cut out if it overheats. No chance of that I figured but read on. Starting it up with the powerhead on, it literally took off. It started rolling like a Sherman tank into Berlin and I had to reel it back in. It didn't take long to get into a rhythm and I could immediately see the carpet was cleaner (plus I didn't need to pre sweep).

I almost finished the house when the vacuum stopped. It had overheated. That's when I noticed that the receptacle was full and choking the filter. Watch out for that! This vacuum will clean your carpet better than it ever has been cleaned.

The following week my carpets still looked clean, but the VX59 still managed to pull up dust from the depths of my shag. I am starting to suspect my carpet has been laid straight onto dirt. The Vax just keeps cleaning and cleaning.

Very good value, for the money – With a vacuum cleaner the main thing is, does it pick up the dirt? And when you tie down the 'experts' they mostly tend to agree a powerhead is what makes all the difference. This model comes with a power head. It's replacing a 10+ y o $800 Wertheim, with powerhead, and doing an equally good job for $269. It may not last the same time, but… Read more

technology is improving daily. It's bagless plus easy to empty and clean! Under 5kg to carry up stairs and hasn't tipped over, so far. There is a special head for hard floors and the 3-in-1 tool is handy. Only gripe, and it is a small one, the clip to hold the 3-in-1 tool to the handle is pretty ineffectual, that needs a rethink by the designers.

Very Effective Vac but Cannot be Cleaned – Very effective vacuum cleaner with a power head; very good suction for carpet vacuuming; and the power head glides over the carpet, very easy to maneuver. But the dust has quickly coated the small compartments which cannot be cleaned or washed with water. The inlet seal connecting between the vacuum body and the tub seemed to be not sealing… Read more

tightly as I could see some dust collecting at the base of the outlet of the vac body connecting to the tub.

It is light comparing to the Hoover power head vacuum cleaner (bought from Godfreys) I had, which broke after 5 years of use. This Vax VX59 is less than half the price of the Hoover I had.

Good on carpets, not on hardfloors – If you want a good allrounder vacuum, then this vacuum isn't for you. Absolutely awesome on carpets, lifts every bit of dust, human hair, cat hair, etc. has basic suction on hardfloors without the power head on. If you have the power head on while cleaning hard floors it will just spit most things back out at you, particularly bigger things like… Read more

popcorn, kitty litter crystals, toast crumbs, etc. It will also spit some of the bigger things back out on the carpet too but not as bad. Its ok. It will do us until it dies but I won't be buying another.
