Just junk – Had this for about 3yrs was good vacuum at first did a good job at vacuuming, the down fall was it would always get stuck on things, 3yrs later it had a problem with the battery going flat really fast and being flat at 43% so replaced the battery and now it’s working fine again apart from it’s hardly picking anything up, has hardly any suction but blows lot of air out the back. And there’s no support Show details

Bad customer service – After 2 years the robot starting stopping during the cleaning cycle with strange warnings. After spending a couple of weeks trying to locate a distributor (I ordered direct from MI.com) - I was finally put in touch with Panmi service centre (trendya) in NSW. I live in WA. The technician recommended it probably was the battery but suggested I send… Read more

it to them so they can evaluate the issue. I was reluctant as I knew I probably could have purchased a new battery elsewhere. After they convinced me to send it to them, I did and spent $30 postage getting it over there. I sent it mid June and I still haven’t received it back. They apparently have no batteries in stock and therefore I have no idea when I will see it again. No follow up, no contact keeping me up to date. So over it. Where is my robot!? Avoid.

Fiddly – Bought this about 2 years ago. The first problem was trying to map the house. The maps kept going haywire when approaching: glass doors that went nearly all the way to the floor, glass windows that went all the way to the floor, and a metal wall-wall drain that went along the edge of our bath. I contacted Viomi support and they said that glass… Read more

will ruin the map unless there's something like 15 or 20 cm between floor and glass. So I bought some thin plywood offcuts and cut them to size to cover the glass up to about 30 cm. Magically the maps then worked! No need to use the plywood once the map was right. Still some funny map areas, but I blocked them out as no-mop areas on the app. What a palaver! But it was kind of fun to figure out how to make it work. The other big problem was that the robot would fail every time it went under our lounge which was about 9 cm off the floor. Support said that the space needs to be higher. I tried putting spacers under the legs of the lounge but couldn't get it to work. In the end, I just made the lounge a no-mop area. I eventually learnt what other things cause it to trip up and made sure i moved them or removed them before starting it.

Apart from all of that which took a couple of months to work out, it's been pretty good since then. We have a three bedroom, one level, house, so I end up doing 1 room at a time. The app lets you split up the map into areas, so I labelled various rooms. it often fails and I have to restart. Can't do the whole house without the battery running out, and then it seems to get confused when it restarts.

The only good thing about it is that when it does work, I can do other things while its running. But, I have to say, I usually spend so much time managing it, that it would probably be quicker if I just went through the house with an ordinary vacuum cleaner.

I am amazed at how much stuff it picks up, though. We have a dog.

The app is confusing but I worked out most things.

Returned and refund – I the Vac worked great for 8 months and then the water delivery stopped working during mopping. These robot vacuums have a known inherent problem with their water tank that will eventually fail and cause water to get into the electronics. You can google this as several brands are all made by the one company. Google this "How to Fix water… Read more

Terrible Glitches – This robot is unreliable. - one day, it would work - the other day, it would rotate in the open space for 10 minutes and then stop saying "Please remove obstacle" (there are none). Cleaning the brush and the sensor did not help. Probably the glitches with the software. Show details

Forget it – Started off good but after about 6 months it started having mapping problems and so doesn't clean the whole house. It was still under warranty so I contacted them to ask for it to be fixed but they ignored me. A bit different to my ecovacs who were very helpful when I asked for help and fixed it under warranty. Show details

Started off good, but a few months later its practically useless! Avoid! – We purchased this robot vacuum as it's one of the cheapest you can buy for the features, in particular mapping capability and scheduled cleaning. It worked well for the first few months however recently we would come home and often find it randomly stopped somewhere in standby mode with incomplete cleaning. Upon factory resetting the device the… Read more

issues became even worse, it took 4 tries to re-map the house, once done it still randomly gets stuck and just stops in standby mode as opposed to giving an error and allowing cleaning to resume as it used to before. This means one needs to manually relocate the robot and start the entire cleaning again from scratch! - defeats the purpose of purchasing a robot vacuum. The increase of errors is extremely frustrating a few short months after purchasing, making this product practically useless. I'd suggest spending a bit more money and purchasing a more reputable brand instead.

It is good product. I had issues with mapping the house – Good vacuum cleaner but it took me 5 days (12 runs) to map the house. It has difficulty to find rooms I think it is not created to vacuum 3 bedrooms. Show details

The functions are great being able to choose how much water flow for mopping to choose the quiet mode for vacuuming or turbo for the carpets I recommend it to everyone who wants to feel happy and peace with a nice house and not have to clean

Perfect! Long Battery, Smart! – I bought this after seeing many +ve reviews and the others weren't making it up. It is fantastic, cleaned an open plan hardwood house in an hour including two hallways. The only downside is that I can't get it to connect to the WiFi. I will keep looking on YouTube but even without the smartphone capability it has already mapped out the house and… Read more ·  1

knows exactly how to get to its home when it needs charging. Prior to this we had the LG Roboking Ver 1.0 and compared to this, it was rubbish with battery only lasting about 25 minutes, it dying on the way to the charger and not doing a smaller house with me having to do a makeshift border to prevent it from getting lost.

EDIT: It was my bad that I couldn't set up the robot to my network. Please use Mi Home instead of Viomi App.

effective vacuum time saving for extra clean – very useful on carpets, wooden floors and tiles. A great cleaning device - good for regular cleaning. Best in vacuum mode. The pattern of cleaning is not the most efficient could have better laser control but it learns and gets better. May have trouble in old double brick houses with finding home. Relies on Wifi. Would definitely recommend, Show details

Good Performance, but not the software – Robot does fantastic job on vacuuming both hard floor and carpet. Clever enough to find the docking station at the end of job. Setting up software connection is a challenge. Show details

Great Buy – I usually never write reviews but as I had a hard time finding reviews for this unit I figure I would write one for others. The vacuum mode excels on hard floors and is pretty good on carpet. There are some things it struggles to pick up on carpet but overall does a great job. I have a cat and it does a great job keeping the house clean of hairs.… Read more

I give it 10/10 on hard floors and 8/10 for carpet.

The mopping is OK, it doesn't do as well as doing it myself but does good enough to keep the floors clean and tidy between me doing it. This was more of a bonus function when I bought it, I was more interested in the vacuuming. You can set the amount of water it squirts out to 3 different level. I give it 7/10 for mopping.

It has 4 suction modes (silent, standard, medium and turbo). On standard the battery lasts a couple of hours but on turbo you only get just over an hour before it has to recharge.

The robot does a good job of finding its home to charge, it will only go home to recharge when it gets to 6% battery. After recharging to 60% it will finish the cleaning job it was doing. I will note that with the mop attachment on its turning circle on carpet is affected and as such has trouble docking. I really should put the dock on a hard floor but its convenient having it live under our spare bed. This issue doesn't occur if you don't have the mop attachment on.

The first time you run a clean you really need to set it to clean the whole house. It will use this to map your house which makes setting it up properly easier the next time you use it. I would run this on silent or standard vacuum setting so it doesn't have to recharge multiple times while doing the mapping. It may seems like when mapping it is skipping rooms or only doing half a room but it will eventually go back to finish them.

A couple of things I don't like have to do with the phone app. Firstly you can only schedule cleaning of the whole house or selected rooms. I prefer the use the Clean Zone function where I can draw zones in my house to clean but this can only be used if you want to start cleaning right away. Luckily I can manually set the cleaning via a zone to start when I'm at work but it would nice if I could just schedule it.

This gets me to the second thing I don't like, the Viomi V2 does a great job at mapping my house and drawing the floor plan on the app but my house has a large open floor plan and the app doesn't allow me to split this into sections easily so I can ensure it doesn't try to mop sections of the house that have carpet. A few rooms just appear as one huge room on the app and the tool to split up the house doesn't allow me to fix this. The app seems to mostly be good at only defining rooms that have a clear single entrance. This is why I prefer to use the Clean Zone functionality.

I do like that I can set restricted zones in my house and it follows these rules. There is one room I have set as a restricted zone as my partner does jig saw puzzles in there and I don't want it sucking up pieces. The Vacuum always obeys to these rules. I have also set restricted zones around my dinning table as it has trouble getting out if the chairs are pushed in so it now goes around the outside of the table.

The robot has never got into a situation it couldn't get itself out of. Sometimes when it seems like its going to get stuck it just stops for a bit while it works out what to do and manages to get out. The final thing I don't like is that official spare parts seem hard to find in Australia. You can get third party parts pretty easily from China but it would be nice if the official Xiaomi store sold parts since you do need to replace things like the filters, sweeper and roller every 6 - 12 months.

Overall this robot vacuum is fantastic value for money and would highly recommend. I picked it up for $499 on the official Xiaomi website and it arrived in 3 days. Can't imagine living without it now.

I bought this to clean my house in between the manual cleaning I do as my floors start to get dirty after a week with cat hair and other stuff. While this won't replace my dyson it gets really close and instead of doing the vacuuming with my dyson every second week I'll now probably only do it once a month.
