It is an old butchers trick to leave blood on the meat. This is what VIP are doing. They have added mositure to increase the weight and yet you buy less meat. I will never buy it again. Look at them sponsoring a V8 Supercar and yet they deceive their customers like this.
Will never buy again! Have fed this to my many dogs as part of their diet for over 30 years and it is not what it used to be. If you're not careful when you first cut into the pack, a foul smelly liquid squirts out everywhere, there is so much water in it. It stinks and is so sloppy my very un-fussy, eating machine won't touch it, and what he… Read more
did eat squirted straight out looking the same as it did on the way in. Disgusting and sad - Syd would be turning in his grave at what's been done to the company he started

Looks homemade – The Gourmet Premium Chicken Roll is a new favourite in our household. My two Jack Russells devoured this product. The meat looked and smelt fresh and I loved to see the pieces of corn, peas and carrots in the roll. The roll was firm when cutting which makes it easier to precut and store. I usually cut up the roll and store it in a container in… Read more · 1
the fridge. With some other products I have found after a few days it become "mushy" however I did not happen with the Gourmet roll. It will certainly be added yo our regular rotation of food for our doggos. I received this product from V.I.P Petfoods to review.
My doggos loved it – My two Jack Russels eagerly awaited their dinner and as soon as I opened the package they got excited. My little girl stood to attention to get a better look and smell at the tasty treat that was heading her way. The food smelt fresh, the texture was lovely and easy to serve up for them. Once they were able to sample the Chunkers they were very… Read more · 1
excited. the next few meals after when I brought out the package from the fridge they almost did backflips in excitement. Will be adding this product to our regular rotation of foods for them.
I received this product from V.I.P Petfoods for review.
My dog loved these – My cavoodle loved these and thought they were a tasty treat. They didn't upset her stomach and it was great that they were in a resealable bag. They had a pleasant smell unlike some dog foods. I don't really like meat and didn't like to handle these..but nothing a pair of tongues couldn't solve. I received this product from V.I.P. A favorite with my three critiques – This gourmet chicken dog roll from V.I.P. Petfoods is a big hit with our canine trio. The first thing that stands out is the taste - it's clear that they absolutely love it. However, it's worth mentioning that preparing this dog roll requires a bit more effort than simply scooping kibble into a bowl. You'll need to slice and portion it, which adds… Read more
a few extra minutes to meal preparation. But when you see the joy in your dogs' eyes as they savor every bite, it's all worth it.
In terms of ingredient quality and nutritional value, this dog roll meets our expectations, with real chicken being a standout feature. We also appreciate that it's free from artificial additives, ensuring a wholesome meal for our furry friends.
Despite the slightly more involved preparation, V.I.P. Petfoods Dog Food Dog Rolls Gourmet Chicken has become a welcomed addition to our dogs' diet. Their enthusiasm for the taste is undeniable, and their satisfaction during mealtime is all the proof we need. Jack, Pippa, and Patch give it their enthusiastic paw of approval! I received this product from V.I.P. Petfoods to review.
An easy and convenient Dog's Dinner – My 10 year old Chihuahua Kelpie Cross eats three small meals a day with Chunkers for Breakfast and Dinner. I like to add some steam cooked Chicken Thigh or Breast too, well diced. He has his little biscuits too. Supper for him is usually beef or roo dried straps and a dental stick. He loves Kangeroo. Sometimes he initially turns his nose up at… Read more · 1
his Chunkers but always comes back shortly after despite my steamed chook being absent. I'm ok with that as he does need to lose some weight, just like me.
For Christmas dinner he just had a bowl of freshly steamed chicken thighs which he adores. I prefer he usually gets a balanced diet that Clunkers offers.
To keep his Chunkers fresh I freeze them but put a few days worth into a sealable container stored in the fridge, not the freezer. I put some of the cooled Chunkets into his ceramic bowl and microwave them for 12 seconds to warm them up. He likes that, especially if I mix in some stemed chook.
A good trick I learned was that before putting his Chunkers into the freezer, I flatten out the pack to spread the chunks out evenly. So when it's needed it's easy to twist and turn the pack to loosen up the frozen chunks to top up his fridge food container. I have never had a problem with his food spoiling using that routine. It does say on the Chunkers bag to consume it within 3 days once opened, hence my freezing method. Weighing in at 6kg, my little boy could never eat a pack of Chunkers in 3 days.
I won't let my little mate eat human or cat food which is bad for him. The worst being: Chocolate, Milk, Cheese, Onion, Macadamia nuts, Garlic, Grapes, Avocados, Apple cores, Yeast dough, Caffeine and even Bacon. He drools for Bacon but none for him, or me nowadays. Cat food is a big No-No for dogs.
Terrible dog food has added poisonous garlic and smells like rotting corpses. Never again – My dog hated it (hes literally never refused another dog food before), and he started having diarrhea and vomiting when he eventually ate it. This may be due to it containing garlic which is poisonous to dogs. There is no known safe amount of garlic for dogs, and it is very unappealing to dogs, so why the manufacturer would add it as an… Read more
ingredient at all is beyond me. FYI my dog was back to normal within a day or two of finishing this product and swapping to another dog food.
Worse still is that these products smell terrible to humans too...I mean really, really bad. I'm fairly certain it's the smell of cadaverine or putrescene or something similar, which is produced when rotting meat putrefies, suggesting some bad meat handling practices are being used in the manufacturing of the product.
I guess I wouldn't expect anything less from a manufacturer that adds poison to their product. Never again, I'm ashamed that I have to give this review one star, it doesn't even deserve that.

A responsive company – This is the second review I have written for this product and I do so because of the response I received from the company. They reached out for further information and promised to pass my thoughts on to the quality control team. I have purchased the product again as a result and am pleased to report that I found the dog rolls greatly improved to the last time I purchased them. Show details

XL chunkers bags please – Petition to get VIP Chunkers in a huge bag please haha. My blue heeler Ranger is obsessed. It’s the only way to make him eat anything by having these mixed in (if there on top, he’ll only eat them and nothing else), it’s how we get him in his crate and how we train him. When we’re out and he has biscuits he doesn’t eat dinner haha! He knows the word chunkers for sure. Just something about em. Thanks for the great product. Show details

Not good, still not good – I had read the poor reviews and agreed, since I've been happy with product in the past and the had poor experiences recently. Despite that, I ended up buying some of the smaller rolls and they were okay. Thinking the poor reviews had been acted on, I purchased a large roll. Nah, dogs wouldn't touch it and it made the fridge very smelly. Had to throw out the whole lot eventually. Contact made (see below) but not going back. Show details
I bought a VIP dog roll and when I opened it it was full of liquid and smelled disgusting. It was nowhere near the use by date but it was definitely off. The smell was so bad I couldn't get rid of it despite cleaning the bench top a number of times and spraying glen 20. I took it straight back to Woolworths Inglewood where I had bought it. I hope this is not a common occurrence as it has really put off. Show details
Sorry. I discarded the packaging straight away.
Smelly chicken roll – Hello,We have been using this product for years, however sometimes when I cut open the roll, watery liquid spurts out. Also there is sometimes an almost overwhelming stink of the product.

My 2 dogs absolutely love the chicken chunkers! It's the only pre-made product I've found that doesn't flare their skin allergies, and supports their gut health. Wish I could buy it in bulk! Show details
DO NOT LET YOUR ANIMALS EAT THIS FOOD – Nearly killed my two dogs lucky one threw this vile food up. She still has ongoing vomiting issues since first eating this food. Never again – VIP gourmet chicken, watery and smells bad after 3rd day open. My 2yr dog's became gastric, very dark brown watery and a little bloody. He is still lethargic. I will never purchase this product again. I use to feed my last dog this he lived to 14. In my opinion I think the ingredients change and also a lot more watery. Show details
They’re adding Garlic to Protadog rolls – Have bought this product for years but have continued to see the quality of it drop. Not sure whether it was on there initially, however have just noticed that in the ingredients list it has garlic. Everything I read online says that even the smallest amount of garlic is toxic to dogs so I’m no sure why this is added, however i won’t be buying this again.

Unfortunately I have now required to switch over to another brand of Dog Roll. Can you explain why you are adding so much water? Show details

Rubbish – Lift your game VIP. I'm forced to buy this crap for my dog due to where I live. I used to get 5 kg buckets of fresh dog food for $14 but now I have to buy this smelly over watered rubbish, it's only benefit is that it's slightly better than canned dog food. Way too expensive for such poor quality. Show details

Rotten smelling – I bought the beef roll today & it was full of water, also the smell is disgusting everything needs to be cleaned asap including hands as they wreaked. I’ve also purchased the lamb roll in the same product today & if it’s the same both will be going in the rubbish bin. You say you are pet owners, do or would you feed this rotten smelling crap to your animals? I wished I’d read the reviews before purchasing. Bought from IGA Donald VIC Show details
Terrible – As a meat manager for 12 and a half years I used to sell these dog rolls prota 3kg and found the product excellent but in the last 3 to 4 months can’t believe the water content when opening the packaging. Once opened two to three days later the product smelt off. Instead of years gone by the consistency was like the old fashion pelony. Now it’s just a meat paste. I’m Going back to buying prime 100. 150ml of water and still more in product – I can't believe that this company has joined the ranks of the rest of the theives that rip off the Australian pet owner's, I just opened a new dog role and spent the next ten minutes cleaning up all the water that came out of it, it's dog food not dog water. Shame on this company and a very poor practice! Would expect this from a third world country not an Australian business. If you want to add more weight then add more product. Show details

Leo was not impressed – Leo the Springador tried this for the first time last week. The result was a very unwell dog with rampant diarrhea and lethargy.
