I bought this second hand to replace a Dyson DC28 upright. The Dyson is far better. It seemed to pick up 2-3 times as much dust and debris doing the same area. This Volta seems to throw grit that gets between my thongs and feet when vacuuming. The end of the hose comes out too easily while vacuuming without you realising. Now the brackets on the… Read more

bottom of the dust canister where you empty the dust have both broken off and I have to tape the lid on. I bought this from FB Marketplace on the basis of the 5 star reviews here. Luckily it was only $20.

Straight out of the box, a very good machine – I've worked in marketing of industrial cleaning equipment for over 10 years. Nilfisk, Gerni, Karcher, Advance, Rainbow. We now have the Rainbow, a machine you fill with water, the dust is sucked through a mist of fine water droplets and arrests all the dust particles that falls into the basin. This is a wonderful machine that has quite a few… Read more

tricks up it's sleeve but is cumbersome with all the separate accessories. The wife will not use it! I'm sure you know who has to.To entice her to participate in the domestic cleaning workforce another machine was needed. All modern machines are made of plastics, be it a Dyson or this Volta this bothers me a bit I must admit but with proper care they should last for many years. Straight out of the box this Volta outperformed the Rainbow, which I used yesterday. Testing the Volta on an already vacuumed floor it definitely looked better. A machine will only remain as good as the maintenance it gets. Never service your car's engine and it will start using more fuel ect. With a vac it's no different. I'm really impressed! Switching from floor vacuuming to hand use is very quick, the machine with all accessories stands upright in a closet without needing any support.

Pros and Cons – I have the previous model of this vacuum and am about to purchase this new version to replace it. When it comes to cleaning my short/medium pile carpets the belt-driven brush roller on this machine is unbelievably effective. The cleaning performance on my carpet is almost frightnening, leaving it looking like its just been laid every time. At its… Read more

$170 price point I can forgive the following negative points: Doesn't work well on hard floors, and I can confirm as per some other reviews it flicks bits and pieces all ove rthe joint. So just forget the hard floor capability, because its carpet performance is so good that what i do is just sweep the hard floors onto the carpet and then vacuum it. Also, the brush roller died, the end cleats were shredded and that cost me around 50 bucks. The brush roller belt has died many times, due to rust/corrosion on the spindle. I am hopeful that Volta has updated this oversight to a stainless spindle on the new model, we'll see. Anyway I have bought two twin packs of belts and gone through them all over about 3 years. Handle snapped quite early on and was held together with tape for the last year, which is due to this units large mass and tiring mobility. This machine is not suitable for the elderly or those with bad lower backs. Its nothing like as easy going as a barrel and hose type or one of those Dyson 'Ball' thingies. But to re-iterate, its $170 and cleans the hell out of my carpet like nothing I've ever used. Air filtration was excellent, you can put your face in front of it and everything.

Exceptional Quality and Performance at fraction of cost – Volta - Electrolux Upright Vacuum cleaner has brush roll - HEPA filter - Cyclonic - Bagless action with 1700W power. This machine is a beast on Carpet and rugs. Easy to manuvre. Brush roll function is a must when cleaning carpets and rugs. Has a small attachment (again with brush roll ) for furniture, car etc. It is one of the best machines out… Read more ·  1

there. Easy to clean and maintain. Comes with additional belt for the roller. Has got 5 level settings from short pile to long pile. Not a ideal choice for hard floors. It removed like a kilo of dust from my house in just 15 mins. Unless you want to spend $400 for SHark Navigator vaccum, this vacuum cleaner is a ideal choice for most of the household cleaning. People certainly dont think while writing negative reviews like too heavy, dont suck on hard floors,w waste of money etc. For $168 from BigW with 24 months warraty, you cant go wrong. I am very happy with my purchase. Cheers. Brush Roll, HEPA Filter, Powerful 1700W machine, Easy to clean & Maintain, Various Attachments, 2m extension cable Not good on hard floors

An amazing piece of technology – I am a male who never was an expert at cleaning anything. But when we ended up with 3 Ragdoll cats the friendship was stretched somewhat with cat hair driving me mad. We bought a Bissell petwash which was useless. A Vax Hepa bagless next and now this Volta which I can't praise enough. Our carpet looked clean but I decided to use this machine… Read more

myself to check out how simple to use. I cleaned the filters after my wife used it and ran the machine over the carpet which looked clean and half filled the container again. Value for money 10/10. Anyone want to buy a second hand Bissell petwash shampooer They are a carpet vac pure and simple. Had an Electrolux when we married and got sick of pulling it around but quality as well.

Best Vac I've had – I really am amazed at what you get for your $$ with this vac. My last vac was a Volta that I had for 20 years.I live with two dogs,a cat and two teenage boys. This unit is up to the challenge. My mum was so impressed she has put aside her heavy Dyson for one of these. Parts are easily available as well as replacement filters. I tend to empty and… Read more

clean the hepa filter after every use.The suction is great, although not so good on bare floors where the power of the brush seems to fling everything backwards. My Aunt has also bought one now, due to her dogs constant shedding and she loves it too. It's not too heavy for her to use. I can't recommend it enough for the price. I have bought a spare and put away because I love it so much. You could buy 5 of these to one Dyson.

So underpriced it's ridiculous ! – I've sold nearly every vac known to man and I've yet to find one as efficient as the Volta . This leave everything for dead. I can't believe they can produce a vac as good as this for the price ! Maybe a retractable cord on the next model would be great and a little lock on the bottom of the hose to stop it popping out would fix the problem .

Great for dog hairs – Picks up dog hairs very well, but being a bagless vacuum cleaner, the cannister has to be cleaned out and the filer regularly. There is a hepa filter too, has to be replaced regularly and costs vary between $12-$40 depending on where purchased. The cannister filter has to be replaced 6 monthly and costs approx. $30. When I purchased the bagless… Read more

dont bother buying one – Worked well for a while, but then kept blowing out dirt instead of collecting it and dirt/hair (from dogs) would also get stuck in the hose. Took it back for warranty, and no chance of fixing or exchange - just told to make sure filters are kept clean, which we did. Even after cleaning filters still blowing dirt and clogging in the hose. It has now stopped working at all. I've gone and bought a miele - WHICH IS FANTASTIC...

Absolute Bargain!! – Mine arrived today, unpacked, put it together was expecting it to be crappy for the price, brought it as a tempory vacuum until I get my Kirby fixed. Wow, was blown away at how well it worked and how well it sucked. Even if it only lasted a year it would be worth the money!! Highly recommended :)

Great value for money – Great price so i bought 2 . Will be a bit heavy for some. Turbo pet brush is amazing for soft furnishings . Main rotating brush has no additional beater bars like the old hoover did.Seems to clean "just" OK , and is easy to use. Easy to empty canister and the hepa filter seems to take a lot longer to clog up than my hoover widepath. Quiet , good height adj range , great price . Easy to use

Great value – I have found this to be a very good machine, does have a few negatives but having said that it is still one of the best value machines I have owned. would recommend for use on carpets not so great on hard floors, fantastic at removing pet hair and kid mess. inexpensive, great power and removes alot of dirt and love the small power head, great for… Read more

Love it! – I have 2 cats and this cleaner is unbelievably efficient in removing pet hair. I have never had any problems with belts breaking.. or with vacuuming hard floors. Best Carpet Vacuum!! – I bought this carpet for my short pile cream carpet. Other cleaners never picked up the fluff hence carpet always looked dirty - this vacuum is fantastic, picked up everything with no problem at all, would highly recommend. Best vacuum I have owned for carpet – Most of the complaints on this review site concern either unable to vacuum up on hard floors or getting things jammed in the rotating brush and burning out the belt. floors? None that I've used. Complaining about belts snapping or burning out because you run over cords or loose threads is ridiculous. Pick them up and move them, as you have to with expensive machines. This is a ROTATING BRUSH machine and works brilliantly on CARPET. Learn how to use it properly before you give it an undeserved bad name. And no, I have no vested interest in recommending this vac. It's just a damned good vac! Cheap price but very good quality that does an excellent job on carpets. Nothing

Useless waste of money – I really should have read the reviews before I purchased this. As others have said, this is useless on hard floors. I have tiles. FANTASTIC CLEANER...SO GOOD MY FAMILY BOUGHT 3 – Without any doubt this is the best Upright Vacuum Cleaner for the price on the market today for CARPETS. fast as the motor spindle gets hot and melts/bust the belt, this is a safety measure, solution, don't ride over string fringes....as for the complaints about emptying main filter, well get over it it is easy, it goes to show just how much rubbish, dirt and dust this cleaner picks up, and just how dirty your home was with your old cleaner, finally, NO UPRIGHT Brush Vacuum Cleaner is great on hard surfaces and can flick hard bits around, every upright I ever owned does this, this one is the best cleaner for the price bar none, 9/10. How Cleaning Job it does and reliable.

One year on - still an excellent cleaner! – We bought this primarily as a carpet cleaner, not as a hard floor cleaner. As a carpet cleaner it works extremely well, and we have had none of the failures mentioned by other reviewers. It IS powerful, and there is a lot of power going into the brush roller, so maybe a bit of thought when using it would prevent many of these failures. Drive… Read more ·  3

belt failures? Still using the original. Emptying problems? Those complaining have obviously never owned a Dyson! Motor failures? Clean the primary filter after EACH use, wash it (it's washable), and make certain it is COMPLETELY dry. If you cannot blow through it with NO resistance, it's not dry. Problems getting it dry? Buy a spare, and rotate them.

Upright brush roller cleaners are THE best choice for carpets. If you have mainly hard floors a cylinder cleaner would be better. For our needs, this is an excellent cleaner. REALLY efffective cleaner, especially on carpeted areas. No worse than ANY other UPRIGHT on hard floors. Heavy, but you expect that with a powerful upright. The hose does come out occasionally, but seems to be far less of a problem with mine than with other reviewers.

Do Not Buy! – What a ridiculous machine! Obviously invented by a man, who has never vacuumed in his life! Waste of money - zero stars – The biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Does not suck up anything on my hard floors or on the surface of my carpet. Impressed – I have recently purchased as I have two cats with long hair and its is wonderful. Carpet looks brand new. A little heavy and a little awkward with the cord, but works like a trick with pet hair. Good value for money. I would recommend. This was recommended to me specficially for pets, and I did not want to pay more than $500 Inexpesive, it actually works for pet hair which is what is is essentially designed floor. A little heavy.

Really good carpet vacuum – It's getting a bad rap for hard floors but who vacuums hard floors when you can sweep with a broom so much quicker?!! Amazing – I just bought this machine after having had a Volta before, which lasted me for over 20 years. I was amazed what it picked up, eventhough the house was, as I thought, clean. Could be a good vacuum – This vacuum showed promise of being good until the belt broke and has continuously broke since. small issues – Over all the vacuum works however it struggles to pick up most of the dog hair and fails to pick up fluff full stop.
