bit wobbly when you open/close the unit. This is because with a removable lid the hinges aren't very tight. That's a small issue in the scheme of things and I can once again recommend this unit with a five star rating.

16 Years old and still running – What a great fridge, never had an issue with it. In the 16 years I have owned it it may have been turned off for 3 months in total. "It has been every were man". Dometic Waeco CF-40 – For the price what you get is OK. A CFX model is obvioulsy much better and nearly double the price. I can live with fluctuating temps as we only use as a drinks fridge and use an Opposite Lock for the food. It does a great job for the drinks. I probably would not use it to keep my food in but I havent tried it in freezer mode as yet though.  Show details

Perfect addition to my camping equipment – This was the best thing I purchased to travel oz with,it kept all my food and drinks nice and cold when crossing from coast to coast and camping out on the Nullarbor. disappointing – I bought this unit 1 week ago, I use this in a motor-home. The temperature is erratic. The outside temperature is 31 degrees C. I set it to work at 2 degrees centigrade, but it hovers between + 7 to - 7. I will return the unit to the store where I bought it. I cant understand why it drops to minus 7 degrees C. Has been worth it – I bought my Waeco cf-40 back in 2007, it's still running, probably not as efficient as it use to but still does the job. It has had its problems though but I have managed not too have spend money on it. I don't know what's going on – Our "green light" is orange and our temperature is going from -0.4, -0.3, -0.2, -0.1 than back up again and than it changes from -0.4 to -0.3 We use it a lot for drinks and camping and this only happened two weeks ago when the "green light" was orange again. Take a long time to cool – It was set at freezer mode -15c. Overnight is around -7c. Another day then it is -15c. Put it in the car with the engine off. It run for 3hours before cut off. The car can still be start. If you run it in fridge mode it probably double the duration. The cut off threshold was set to high. The battery at that time is 12.03v.  Show details

Really good and efficient – I use this fridge in my van running off a 130 amp hour battery and it seems to run forever. Because I have a solar charging system I never need to turn the fridge off. It is almost silent and doesn't seem to pump out too much heat. The only fault is the removable lid comes off a little too easily.  Show details

Waeco CF 40 - lemon – Have had my CF 40 for approximately 10 years. When it is working it cools things effectively. However, in the last 3 years I have spent the price of a new one on repairs - both upper and lower circuit boards packed up. It has been used sparingly and stored properly during that time. With that and the inconvenience of 2 x 3hour round trips each time to have it repaired I will never buy another Waeco. Good luck if you do!

Keeps Going – I have had my cf40 for ten years plus running all the time in the back of the cruiser the only time it stops is if the car has not been used for some days and the battery runs down. The only problem is the display is not working any more but all other functions work fine.

A fabulous fridge that works in all conditions! – We have owned our CF40 for about four years and are just about to buy a second as needs have increased. It has performed well in all conditions - freezing cold up in the high country to stinking hot in the bush. It is comparatively light and inexpensive compared to the competition and, touch wood, ours hasn't missed a beat.

not happy either – Same problem with my cf60 and no one wants to fix it . It came with a spare thermostat factory installed so they know it doesnt work yet they sell it to customers knowing this . I use my Waeco as a beer fridge now with a ten dollar timer on 240 volt thats all its good for . Looking at an engel now am also worried they might give me the same trouble . Not happy

I can live without my Waeco CF40 – I have had my Waeco for 5 years, one month after my warranty run out the thermostat packed in . Cost me $165.00 to get it fixed. One and half years later the thermostat broke again Waeco didn't want to about it unless I paid for it again.

Most efficient fridge in the 40 to 50 litre range for me – My Waeco CF-40 is ten years old this week. Still going gangbusters and hasn't missed a beat in all the road trips we've done over the decade. It's amazing. ease. I once put an entire goat in it (chopped of course) but that was a bit too much load for the fridge. If I had refrigerated the goat first it would have been fine. Oh well, lesson learned.

One day I'll have to buy a new one and it will be the same fridge as long as Waeco continue to make it.

Initial Impressions of the Waeco CF-40 – I've only had this unit for about 3 weeks but so far it does what it should and the build quality is sturdy and generally excellent. The unit is really well insulated. As for efficiency it is too early to tell as it is still winter; the real test will come in summer. Easy to set up and use. Well built Only a minor point - the green "power on" light is a bit dim.

Waeco CF-40 works well – Had some initial issues with my power connection which caused the fridge to "error" out. But once I got a more positive power connection didn't have any problems. battery protection. Power usage is pretty good even in hot weather in a stationary wagon. Built in battery protection. Low power use. Cools quickly from a warm start. Quiet operation. Digital temp gauge is a bit out.

Excellent – Excellent Fridge!!!!! Love it. We bought it for a long trip across the Nullabore and now leave it in the Wagon permanently. We have small kids and we couldn't live without it now!!! price and worth every cent. Criticised for being plastic but I think this should be one of the pros as its much lighter but still very strong!!! Cigarette plug could be stronger and some sort of locking mechanism for the plugs would be great, however, it has never come lose!!!
