They need to relook at the formula, leaves an uneven sheen, chalky. Worst money ever spent. Walls looked a lot better best I used this. Show details

Wish I'd read these reviews before buying this. I've painted whole houses many times but never encountered a paint that is so impossible to apply evenly and which dries even less evenly. For the price very disappointing.

PAINT IS RUBBISH – I just finished building a new house with Rossdale Homes. They used Wattyl paint. It's the worst paint ever. Watery, peeling of the walls, wipe the walls and it comes off, easy chipped off the walls, bad coverage. Rossdales assured me they did 2 coats inside the home. Do not use Wattyl paint or you'll be redoing everything. Show details

Terrible. Water is thicker than Wattyl paint – Purchased 4l of Wattyl paint for doors and trims. What a waste of money that was. Terrible product. Show details

Professional painter used Wattyl ID. Not washable, paint has a chalky texture in low sheen – Spent $30k painting inside and window trims. We own a dog and initially specified Dulux wash and wear. Builder insisted his painter only used Wattyl - wished we had know when we contracted the builder - half way through reno, so felt pushed into the decision. Have regretted it ever since. Any dog scuff means serious scrubbing. Over time I will… Read more

repaint the white inside walls with Dulux - all bar three walls - not an expense I’m up for but as a sufferer of carpal tunnel. I am not up for scrubbing walls to no avail - they never come clean.

Best interior paint in the country – Easily the best and most washable paint in this country. Covers well considering it's a premium paint. Wouldn't use anything else for washability. Show details

One Coat Covered – Just finished painting a ceiling with Wattyl ID Advanced Ceiling paint. It was previously painted perhaps 15 years ago. I was surprised that it only needed one coat. Excellent coverage. The opacity was perfect. I couldn't justify another coat as it looked perfect the way it is. I have no experience with the other ID Advanced products but I can definitely recommend the ceiling paint. It's very thick and covers well. Show details

Can't actually rate the paint – Called into Wattyl paints in Launceston on Easter Saturday to find 2 customers already in the store. After sometime the customer next in line told the one employee working on the busiest weekend of the year for DIY she'll come back later. One sale lost. 15 mins. later, without one word or gesture to acknowledge our presence in the store, we too left. two sales lost out of three customers. Lift your game Wattyl.

Coverage poor – Well, that's disappointing! I spend hours prepping the work and then getting into painting with a good roller paint loading only to find out when its dried that it is patchy. I am painting with Wattle ID in "light grey", almost white over light green (in one room) to find that roller bands appear through second coat. I'm using "premium quality"… Read more

rollers and cut in brushes so I know i'm doing it right and I've painted plenty times before. Now I'm doing all the rooms in the house, however I will be changing brands as this paint is NOT what I would recommend anyone to use. It's the 1st and last time I will use it. Sooner the 15ltrs is used up the better. NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER PAINTS. I went to a Solver paint shop for this so I expected quality. :(

Very bad, painted by commercial builder – Wattyl Matt Natural white. I have to give a warning that I am not sure if Icon Co mixes the paint correctly but the paint on my walls are really vulnerable. Even a slight touch with dry towel makes the matt finish sheen, let alone wet towel. It’s very easily stained and impossible to remove however slightly stained without permanent damage the… Read more

paint. Terrible. It looks very good under LED down light tho, that’s why they use it for my 5 star luxury apartment in Southbank.

wattyl aquatrim – Try wattyl aquatrim. Makes Dulux & British paints look like tail enders in a race. Did 2 coats and covered perfectly. Wattyl has not scrimped on pigment or they have a special one of their own.British paints water based enamel 3 coats &still see through, same with Dulux water based enamel. By the way they are all around the same price.  Show details

Very good product – At the moment it is the best paint on Australian market. Very washable with an excellent coverage. It is very easy to apply on surfaces in hot or cold weather conditions. The new formula gives very good toughness and it's very hard to scratch the walls. I'm super happy with this wattyl product.  Show details

if only it was discontinued before I bought it – Totally agree with cheshr & not happy jan. Im a wattyl solver fan and have been for 20+ years. They are a superior product that stands the test of time and they have never failed me, until now!! Having also done my fair share of painting, i know the tricks, my methods are correct, my equipment good quality and appropriate for the job and my prep… Read more

is thorough. However, Wattyl id has to be the worst paint I have ever attempted to use and if it is has been discontinued it is not before time. Wattyl should never have allowed it to be released. You WILL NOT be able to get an even finish unless you speed paint a much thicker coat than you should while using the least amount of brushing or rolling possible, and even then, you WILL see it dry with an UNEVEN finish in places. Cutting in is near impossible to keep a wet edge without having 1 person cutting in and 1 immediately painting. I ended up applying it thick and fast in 1 roller width sections at a time before literally rolling it up/down/up only. If you look at the dried paint under a bright light it appears as though the paint itself is not a uniform product, like it has been made with incompatible substances that never combined properly to begin with and then the colour added in & sitting on top. Coverage is appalling too -it took 3 coats of light grey to cover very well undercoated (white) walls that were previously pale yellow. I am so unbelievably disappointed and Im stuck with the worst paint job I have ever had. The best thing I can say is that it has apparently been discontinued (yet still readily available in WA as at Dec 2016) DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PAINT. WATTYL SHOULD RECALL IT ALL AND RETAIN ANYTHING THAT IS LEFT OF ITS GOOD REPUTATION (unless aquatrim has demolished it already anyway). Seriously Valspar.. Get it together b4 its too late and please dont destroy Solver too.

Very good coverage and finish – I used Wattyl Interior design for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. One coat of light grey over a mid green almost covered, two coats and the job was perfect. It rolls and brushes easily, gives a nice uniform lo sheen and has no perceptible odor, a very good product up there with the best from Haymes.

GREAT PAINT LOW ODOUR – I am writing this review as I am extremely happy with the results of my job I utilised a slightly more expensive base in the wattyl range (a magenta base ) I was advised that this would cover better by the staff who served me at west Gosford. I've previously used the same colour in I think it's called a strong base which didn't cover well at… Read more

all, but using this other base wow 1 coat almost!

No smell good coverage on colour that I've had problems with in the past thanks wattyl

Awesome Results – We have painted 4 feature walls in our house in the last 4 years and have used British Paints, Dulux 101 and Taubmans, all from Bunnings. All three were hard to get the right finish, even using expensive rollers and needed at least 3 coats to get right coverage. We bought a 2L ID from Masters and when we did the wall in the new babies room, we… Read more

were amazed how easy the paint went on and after only 1 coat, how well it covered. We painted a red over a grey undercoat. If I had the rate the 4 different brands for easy of use and coverage, I'd have to rate Wattyl Interior Deign as number 1! It rolled on so easy and even with different pressure from both my wife and I, the result turned out amazing.

Also being low VOC, there was no smell after 30 minutes! Finish result, Coverage and ease of use!

Wattyl ID (Interior Design) low sheen. It should be Inferior Design – We decided to buy Wattyl Inferior Design paint to repaint a study. We deliberately chose rich vibrant colours from Masters, who recommended that we apply Wattyl grey-tinted undercoat first, which we did. After two coats were dry we could see wide bands of different texture, supposedly because we applied different pressure on the roller. I am 65 an… Read more

have painted many times and have never had such a shoddy outcome. We complained to Wattyl who was willing to give us a new 4 litre tin of paint, but no refund. What will have changed. if the paint is [censored word removed] it will always be [censored word removed].

Incredibly disappointed.

Poor finish when dry
