EXPENSIVE FOR AVERAGE JOB – I had two pieces of cornice fall off from a corner in the kitchen - the total length would have been less than 1m. agreed, and completed the job within an hour just by nailing back the cornice lengths and adding a bit of plaster. So for the $300 I got a few nails and a bit of plaster, and as he lived close, no travelling expenses - really it was all "labour" for one hour. The job itself was average and will need sanding and painting He did adjust a back door hinge which took 10 minutes.
I say it was expensive as I've had a qualified electrician (and his apprentice) install a ceiling fan and replace a light switch for $160 labour for one hour, and a plumber replace laundry taps for $120 labour for one hour.
