Weber Genesis Silver

Excellent BBQ – Great bbq! I’ve had it for years and it hasn’t stopped working. Lights first go every time. The only thing that has broken a little bit is the thermometer and haven’t been able to work out how to get a new one. It still reads a change in temperature but not as hot as these BBQs are actually getting! Show details
I can't believe it's been nearly 20 years! I wish they kept selling this one! – I have owned my Weber Genesis Silver "C" (with side burner option) since 2004. I have only just recently done a major service on it (bought new burners, ignition, and LPG gas line/regulator), as it was getting difficult to start- which has never happened before. ALWAYS starts first go! And I have never used a cover as the BBQ is used too… Read more · 1
frequently. Its used at least once, maybe twice a week throughout the whole year (rain hail or shine I'm out there), so a cover is pointless and just gets in the way. Not a spot of rust on the main parts anywhere (only rust is on some of the screws, but the frame, hood, base etc... nothing!). The thing is dirty on the outside but is rock solid.
I've attached a picture of my pride and joy for proof ;). She's been awesome.
My family and I like our steaks medium well (pink but no blood), and it's always perfect on the Weber... not dried out, always juicy. Better than a restaurant, perfect temperature to cook steaks on.
My way: -Superheat the BBQ (max heat on the dial or close to it... hot!) -Sear each side of a steak (pre oiled, salt and peppered) for 1min -Then turn down the heat to medium (direct heat, you want the dripping juices from the meat to smoke it over the next step) -Flip the first side back over (but 90 degree from what direction it was facing to give a crisscross pattern) for 2-3min (depending on thickness- roughly 1min for every 1cm thickness). -Then finally flip it over again for the second side. -Result = Beautiful tender rump steaks softer than porterhouse, charred crisscross pattern, still a little pink in the middle, but with brown juice coming out onto plate when you cut it (not red- kids will freak out :)). Perfection!
This rubbish about turning a steak over "only once" while cooking is for chumps. It's all about even heat distribution and not drying out the meat on one side. It's not about impressing your mates on how inattentive you can be at the BBQ! Show off your Weber's superior broiling ability. Regular rotating of the meat for even heat absorption into the flesh keeps the juices in the middle where they are supposed to be! Why do you think kitchen ovens are now fan forced? Even heat! Sear each side over high heat to give a big blast of heat into the cold meat to start the cooking process, but then slowly roast it through evenly to finish it.
I haven't been given an incentive to write this. I was just looking at options on getting a bigger BBQ... I have a large 5 member household (including two growing boys eating me out of my home!), and the Weber is getting a little small for all my meat eaters :).
I just love my Weber! I'm actually thinking about getting another Genesis Silver and just running two of them together! Seriously folks, if you haven't eaten steaks off of a Weber you don't know what you're missing. I'd invite you all over my house if I could ;).
Thanks Weber.
It is great – I've had this gas bbq for about 15 years and it still works great. It cooks meat beautifully. It's easy to keep clean and no problems with wind or rain. I love the smokey flavours you can get in meat and the char lines. Show details · 2
They don't make them like this anymore.Great ,have it since 2003,little maintenance, need burner tubes and crossover – I cooked just about everything on this Grill.Easy to keep clean, kept it covered and under the patio awning in the winter.Still in great shape, hate to get rid of it because of the burner tubes worn out.Other then that, still in great shape.Cooked many of great meals on it.I hope to find the parts and get a few more years out of it. but new Genesis units look great as well.
I have Smokey Joe, Performer kettle, and Gas Genesis all of which rate 5 stars
17 years old and still going strong – Beem outside for whole 17 years without cover Used frequently even during winter. Maintained well twice per year. Only problem a year ago the thermometer broke and i can't seem to get a replacement. However i have got to know it so well, I can operate it (cook) without needing one. Brilliant. Show details · 1
8 years old and still as good as new – Bought this 8 years ago and have kept it in the garden all year round. It doesn't need a cover - I found the cover just becomes an obstacle to using it. It heats up quickly, cooks brilliantly and is used every week. After 8 years the gas tubes finally cracked and needed replacing so I called Weber to see about replacement parts only to be told… Read more · 1
that they are covered under a 10 year warranty and a service engineer would be out to replace them !!
I already loved my Weber - now even more so.
Best BBQ ever – We have had our Weber now for going on 6 years. No problems, easy to move around, clean, cook on and has never had any problems at all. The cost was high on purchase, but 6 years in it is still going very strong so there is value in that. Ours is kept outside with a Weber cover, but in the open so is tough too. Forget the cheaper versions as… Read more · 5
it is a false economy needing to replace every coulpe of years. Our large family are converts to this brand. Awesome for grilling, roasting etc. Reliability, ease of use and quality of final product.
Good – If the dripping problem was solved I'm sure there would not be a barbie to touch it in its size and performance. Great value for the price paid. A good all rounder. Perfect size for a small party, great cooker. Reasonably priced. drips fat off the closed lid onto the pavement below, so I need to place newspapers underneath Show reply
Excellent – This has been the best BBQ I have ever owned. It does not take long to work out heating controls and cooking times for some of the tastiest, evenly, cooked meals you'll ever indulge in. The flavouriser bars defiantly do as they suggest and the smoking attachment makes for easy light smoking of your meals. The BBQ cover is an extra heavy duty tarp… Read more · 1
that slips over easily. This Weber grill is strong and sturdy and built from quality materials. The best thing is it strips down easily for no mess cleaning. The cooking, the cleaning, the taste of the food cooked, the additional attachments and accessories. Price
