This fridge is a lemon, nothing but trouble
I bought this fridge 3 years ago through Good Guys. We were told it was a quality fridge by sales people. 13 months into ownership the fridge handle broke off as I opened it. The plastic bracket had broken. I was directed to a local repairer to fix and I couldn't just buy the $5 plastic bracket (as per other models), I had to buy the s/steel handle kit at a cost of $120. It contained a fridge handle, freezer handle and 2 sets of brackets. All I used/needed was one set of brackets. Now 3 years in the thermostat control won't stop blinking. We ha...ve no control over the temperature in the fridge. This error is not recognised by Westinghouse as an error message. I again rang the approved repairer who sent out a technician who said he sees this issue a lot with this model. He said he thinks the issue is due to poor manufacture overseas where the insulation has not been installed properly causing weak spots that encourage condensation around some parts of the fridge related to temperature. He told me Westinghouse try to sell you an after market fix that doesn't work. He told me to cut my losses and buy a new fridge. As an environmentally conscious consumer I find this incredibly unethical. 3 years in my fridge is landfill!
The handles are a joke!
As with many other reviewers on this site, the mounting brackets for the handles on our fridge snapped off after less than 5 years. Otherwise the fridge has performed well, but Electrolux/Westinghouse are really putting their customers over a barrel by requiring you to purchase an entire replacement handle for $200, when all that is needed is a new mounting bracket which probably costs $5 to manufacture.
Really has left a sour taste in my mouth - we are currently building a house, and were intending to get all Westinghouse appliances. We certa...inly will not be doing that now, after this experience. They’ve obviously realised what a terrible design these handles were, because all their new fridges with similar handles have additional mounting screws either on the side or top of the bracket. But everyone else who bought a fridge between ~2012-2017 is left to suffer with an inferior product and a blatant money-making scheme by Electrolux if you want to replace it. They seemingly don’t care about their reputation! Go elsewhere.

Freezer is Faulty
Wish I had read these reviews before purchasing
The freezer alarm keeps going off. Set it to the correct temperature as per the manual, but every time you add something you have to set the "quick freeze" function otherwise the alarm sounds. You need to push this 2 to 3 times over a 3 hour period and this has not even stopped the alarm from sounding after being set 3 times in a row. I finally discover you can disable the alarm for 12 hours. Guess what, it went off again after 12 hours :( . I have had ice cream in the freezer for 30 hours since purchased and it is softer than when I bought it from the supermarket.
This fridge is a dud.
I'll be contacting there customer support as soon as I can.
Impractical and Dangerous
We purchased this fridge in 2017.One month a go the handle snapped off and smashed my wife in the head causing a sizeable lump. These are shoddily made and when I went through these reviews I can see why.$200 to replace the handle is seriously a disgrace. Will be looking through all reviews from now on when purchasing this brand.Actually I just wont
One star is too generous for such an awful fridge
Wow, where to begin as I'm still a loss for words regarding this Westinghouse unit. We previously had a Daewoo 520L fridge which lasted for 10 years. It gave out towards the end of Feb this year 2020 but prior to that, the only issue we had was the light bulb being dud. So last end of Feb 2020 we purchased a Westinghouse WBE5300BB and it went well at the start. One day in May which was a little over 2 months later, we noticed the control panel flicking and the compressor seemed to be a little noisier than usual. By the end of the day, the freez...er stopped cooling and you can imagine the frozen stuff starting to thaw. Good thing I had large, plastic storage bins and I filled them up with ice to keep the food chilled. By night the fridge section was no longer cold as well. By the next morning, the compressor was noticeably louder and it reminded me of a large can being dragged on the floor. So we called Electrolux and the tech came 2 days later. I swear he spent like 5 seconds in the house when he heard the fridge and said the compressor was busted. So, replacement unit came 3 days later...and yes I bought bags of ice until it arrived. 3 months later.....last Sept 6 2020, the same thing happened. Lights on the panel were flicking, the compressor was noticeably louder and the freezer started to thaw. By Monday, I had to buy ice again and the tubs were helping us keep the food chilled. Tuesday, the tech came and he opened up a panel inside the fridge. He said that it had a gas leak. Even the tech himself said and I quote: "For 2 brand new fridges to fail within a span of 6 months is completely unheard off. Unbelievable." He recommended a replacement fridge and immediately my wife said that she was going for a full refund. It's Wednesday now, I'll be buying ice later to refill the tubs. But the good news is my wife was able to get the refund and the new fridge is coming tomorrow (Thursday). NO! It's definitely not a Westinghouse. If you value your money, if you value your sanity and you don't want any stress; STAY AWAY from this awful fridge. If the option to give zero stars was there and yet leave a review; I wish. Don't be deceived by seeing 4 or 5 stars here in there when you search for this model online. Trust me, you will get that amount of stars only in headaches that this fridge will bring.
Good Fridge with good service
I bought this fridge 3 years ago and after an issue with a fluting noice it was replaced and have had no issues since. However, a few weeks ago the door handle broke off while we have used it perfectly normal. I have contacted Westinghouse / Electrolux through their website and posted a message here and received a call and the door handle will be replaced next week under warranty service. excellent service!
Compressor is dead and it’s only 8 weeks old
Rightio I didn’t wanna do a bad review but here we are. It’s been 8 days since we’ve had a working fridge. We bought this mode only 8 weeks ago and we were really happy with it for the first little while. However last Wednesday the freezer stopped working. We called customer service and they told us to turn it off and on again. Lol. Obviously that wasn’t going to work so the next day when the fridge section died as well, we phoned again and were told to contact a service person in our area. We are in regional Victoria. The serviceman couldn’t g...et here till Monday but basically he told us the compressor had died. He submitted the paperwork on Monday but we are still waiting to find out from Electrolux whether or not we’ve been approved for repair or replacement. I’ve called them and spoke to a nice lady on the phone who told me we will be called within a couple of days. It’s been two days since that call and we are still without any idea what’s going on. We are currently in lockdown bc of coronavirus and have limited take away food options available in our town. We have no other refrigeration. Which I told them about. But there really seems to be no urgency in getting us sorted out. Why does it take two days (or potentially more) to approve the service persons request? Pretty unhappy at this point. If this goes on much longer, I’ll be requesting a full refund and change brands.
Purchased in June 2020.
Had purchased this fridge in Feb 2020 and had broken down in 2 weeks with gas leak. Got a replacement with new stock, which ran for 4 months before becoming dud with same problem again. Have been informed that there is no stock and will get a store credit instead. Stuck in stage 4 lock-down with no fridge and worst possible customer service I have faced. Hope the company revisit this model and provides atleast a viable product for its customers, for the price they are being charged.
I should have read the reviews first!!
Avoid avoid avoid.
Bought this fridge at the end 2019 and by April it had broken down.
Was issued a loan fridge and waited a further 2 months for a replacement to become available.
When we had enough of waiting we were told by Electrolux that we were not eligible for a refund. After reading up on my consumer rights and calling them again, my right to a refund was not refused.
Note - fridge was purchased at Harvey Norman and their customer service was abysmal.

Worst purchase of my life
Poor quality fridges. Never ever will buy Westinghouse or Electrolux items.
I bought one Westinghouse fridge from Binglee on 12/10/2016.
This morning I was cleaning my fridge and noticed small cracks developing inside the fridge compartment where door closes. Its all over on left hand side of fridge inner body and also on where door seal goes
Its not one or two there are multiple cracks which are developing inside my fridge body.
This fridge is only 3.5 years old and already have problems. There is no issues in working but cracks which are ...

Excellent. Can’t fault it.
Excellent and very large. Fits everything in. Very intuitive layout. Coming from a side by side fridge, you notice that the freezer fits heaps more in, even though it’s the same volume. And the light is a super bright LED thank goodness unlike the old bulb types where you couldn’t see anything.
Poorly designed pedestals for handles.
Fridge freezer fantastic, but the plastic lugs in the pedestals that attach the handles to the doors broke after 2 years of use by elderly owners. VERY POOR DESIGN!!
And then you can’t just purchase replacement pedestals even though they are held on with a screw, you have to buy the whole set of handles $177 plus about $15 postage.
I have always loved Westinghouse appliances but I don’t trust them any more.
We purchased this fridge in early March, 3 weeks later the compressor broke. Electrolux replaced with a loan fridge and we received a replacement in mid April. That is now also broken, compressor again. Going to another brand
Purchased in March 2020.
Door handles badly designed and expensive to replace with no guarantee it won’t happen again
No problems with all the other features just the door handless they sell you two handles because they know the other one oo. design and costly one to at that
Purchased for A$1,299.00.
This is the loudest fridge I've ever owned. I purchased it in november 19 and it progressively got louder and louder to the point it would wake my kids during the night (I've got video proof) our local betta team have been great and got the repair guy out immediately but due to Covid-19 we are still waiting for parts to hopefully fix this noisy fridge.
Also the shelves are incredibly flimsy. We are a family of 4 (2a 2k) and after a weekly shop ll shelves bend so you can't get stuff in and out unless you unpack the shelf above. Westinghouse customer service said "you must buy too much fresh fruit and veg and perhaps need to shop 2 times a week" What???
Brokedown after few months
I bought this fridge less than five months ago and it has already breakdown. The freezer has stopped cooling. I have lost all my food!! In all my life of owning fridges, this has never happened before! I have contact customer support and asked them to send someone as an emergency issue but nobody contacts me yet !!
Not too bad
The fridge works fine, but the handles broke a couple of months after usage. It weren't the handles themselves but the pedestals inside the handle which are made of bad quality plastic. I found on internet a complete handle kit to replace which costs about 190$. I won't pay that money to replace only those plastic pieces. Sent an email to Electrolux and still waiting for an answer to find the proper replacement.
Purchased in July 2017 for A$1,200.00.
WBE5314SA-R door handles
The door handle posts on our WBE5314SA fridge have broken, I rang Westinghouse and was told that the posts could not be purchased separatly and I had to buy the 2 handles at a cost of about $180.00 I think it is unreasonable to have to pay for the handles when I only need 2 posts.
DO NOT BUY- TERRIBLE ITEM
Bought this fridge from Appliances Online, had it delivered and then installed it. It worked for a total of one day, yes you read correctly, one whole day. Everything was cold and nice for that one day and then literally everything went off. The next day the fridge and the freezer completely stopped working and I have been buying bags of ice every single day to get through. I put a bag of ice in the freezer drawer thinking I could use that as a makeshift esky until the new one arrives however no such luck, the freezer drawers have vent holes in...them so water leaked out everywhere once the ice melted. I lost over $100 in shopping that spoiled and at least $100 in ice and Westinghouse customer service have been absolutely horrendous to deal with. I will never buy another Westinghouse fridge ever again.
Questions & Answers
Hi, have had brand new fridge for 5 days but it is always running, have only herd it silent once & when it did kick in it made a noise - like a winding noise & that’s only once in 5 days.
Is it normal to be continuously running 24/7 .
The fridge is only 8 months old. There are a loud noise and message displaying that to replace the filter.
However, we haven't use the water filter since we bought the fridge. How can we avoid the message and the noise?
