!!!! FIRE Hazard !!! – Mine is the same model number, and burns the same as well. It’s unbelievable that the issue has persisted for so long. It makes me wonder if other Electrolux/Westinghouse products hide similar flaws. Electrolux customer care sent a tech to confirm the issue and then told me too bad, it’s an old machine. The point here is that even if it were to… Read more

die of usage, it shouldn’t be a safety hazard. Like many, we were alerted by a terrible smell of burning electricals which we traced back to the dishwasher. It was lucky that this hapenned during daytime when we were at home. We have kids at home and we often run it overnight. Anything could have happened.

Nearly caught on fire! – The fact that there are so many burning related reviews here and that this model isn’t recalled is scary!! Like many others, I inherited the doomed Westinghouse dishwasher with the house I bought last year. Last night I heard a very loud noise from the kitchen, ran there, thick smoke coming from the top part of dishwasher (that I had put on… Read more

after dinner). Pulled out the power cord, which was very hot to touch! Nearly had a nervous breakdown, that’s how scary it was, kids and dogs running in panic. Everything smelled like burnt plastic and the kitchen still does.

Contacted Electrolux customer service today, the lady on the phone was repeatedly pointing out how old the dishwasher is according to the serial number and that they can send someone to check it and possibly fix it. As if I would pay someone to come and tell me it’s fried!! Time to buy a new one anyway the customer service lady thought. Yeah ok, but what if the freaking kitchen burnt down because of a clearly faulty part that people have been writing about already over 10 years ago. Also there should be a warning about these models for whoever still has one that hasn’t gone up in flames, as they most likely will one day and not everyone will be home to stop it.

Off to wash dishes by hand and relive the nightmare.

Do not buy a Westinghouse Dishwater. They cannot design an electrical circuit that does not overheat. The plug that feeds power to the heating coil melted. I cannot unplug it to replace the board. Surprise surprise you can actually buy a replacement Board "Board Configured Edw1100". for $188. This must be a common problem. Inferior engineering. Show details

Eco cycle is excellent – I wonder if I have been spared a fuse problem because I have always used the eco cycle, which is excellent. Only occasionally needed to do a dishwasher / pipe clean. Bought in 2009 and used several times a week since and until very recently (new place already had a dishwasher). Was a bargain at time of purchase and was ranked very well on CHOICE… Read more

Should I use this dishwasher ? – I’m writing to find out if it’s safe to use our Westinghouse dish washer model WDF901WA. Or is it going to catch fire like all the other ones have. It was bought in 2010.It has worked faultless.till now. As it has developed a leak coming from the bottom of the door which we had the door seal replaced. But it was still leaking. So I was told it… Read more ·  1

is the water level switch that could be the problem. Reading comments on the internet about this model front panel fire is a worry as we are old age pensioners and can’t afford to repair it, only to have it catch fire..Have emailed Westinghouse on Tue 2/05/2017 and still no response from them. You would that they would respond to a potential fire hazard..

Board overheated and ruined my party, but electrolux replaced it – The dishwasher started smoking while we were having my kids birthday party. One of our guests noticed the kitchen filling up with smoke and yelled out "fire!" and everyone started running out of the house. There was lots of racid smoke, and the party was over. But no fire. No external damage. After checking out the product review website and… Read more

noticing lots of other people with the same problem, I contacted Electrolux to ask for a replacement. They were extremely helpful and sent out a technician 1 week later. He confirmed the damage and then organised a replacement. Got a brand new one today.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone on this website for your experiences, If not for this website I might have just thrown it away and brought a new one.

Trouble free dishwasher – These days we find that appliances don't seem to last as long as they once did. I'm happy to report that our dishwasher which gets quite a lot of use has been going strong and works as advertised for over 2 years now. It was easily set-up and we don't use any other function but the fast or ECO functions and they both work well for general plates, cutlery and glassware. Reliable, does a good job on the fast and Eco functions.

It's a dishwasher just not very good one – Moved into a new house with one of these installed. Previously had a very old Miele (turn dial etc.) and it ran rings around this thing. It does the job but I'm often pulling things out that just aren't clean. (Yes I know how to pack a dishwasher properly!) After a couple of months with this unit we're looking to upgrade. No burning or fire related issues like other users. Show details

Caught on fire – Inherited the dishwasher when I moved in. Then the circuit board caught fire while it was on one day and completely tripped the house. A smoking heap of junk – Dishwasher was past used by date as it had come with the house we bought 6 years ago. It worked ok generally, cleaned fine but was noisy and never really dryed properly. had caught fire. Had we been asleep at the time this could have been far more serious. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN to a kitchen appliance in this day and age. It wasn't until I jumped on here to read reviews that I discovered how common the problem was. This model has been discontinued but I wanted to leave a review just incase someone still has this death trap in their kitchen. Off to buy a Bosch Dishwasher tomorrow based solely on the fact I'd like to not risk burning my house down. Never again Westinghouse.

Stank the house out and tripped the fuse – This dishwasher was fine and did a ok job at cleaning really dirty items, until one night I could smell something burning while the dishwasher was in operation. dishwasher from out of the house due to the toxic fumes it was producing. I removed the front panel and Indeed the circuit board had started to melt and the wires had also melted. By going on other reviews on here, people have been able to get a replacement machine, so I will try that method. In the meantime, back to hand washing dishes!!!

out everything I have read on productreview.com.au has lead me to believe that this is a very common issue and people have had their units smoke and short out etc. I am now concerned for the safety of my family as these units have been found to be faulty by many users. I have heard that Westinghouse have been replacing these units due to this problem according to product review.com.au if I can get some feedback on what can be done that would be great.

I have spoken to Westinghouse on the phone and all they can off me is to book a service technician at a cost to me even though when you read about these dishwashers this appears to be a common issue.
