Westpac Altitude Black - Altitude Rewards American Express Bundle
4 reviews
Multiple bad experiences – Experience #1: Made a hotel booking using 180,000 points, had to change last minute due to hospitalisation. Refused to refund the points even though the hotel's policy had a medical clause. I sent them medical letters etc. but no one has done anything about it. Experience #2: Lost over 200,000 points due to points expiring after they changed products and cancelled the American Express bundle - I was never told about points expiring but they are all gone now.
0/10 experience. Never again.

Great card – Easy to earn points as well as quick to redeem. You get triple points while using Amex. However just received email today that they are increasing to 6 times for selected retailers.

It was a great credit card – I took the Westpac Altitude Black Amex bundle (Westpac issued Amex) when it was just released and I was offered a discounted annual fee at $295. The annual fee was reduced further to $195 when I took BT Super for Life as my super option. I got 1 pt for each dollar spent on Mastercard and 3 pt for each dollar spent on Amex at that time. With these points, I managed to redeem J class tickets for my overseas trips once a year. However, Westpac cancelled the Amex card last year. I had to apply for the Amex issued Altitude Amex black card separately. I still have to pay $195 for the Mastercard and another $195 for the Amex card. Now I earn 1.25 for each dollar spent on Mastercard and 3pt spent on Amex. BUT, the points required for redeeming a J class ticket increased by 40%!

Good card for accumulating points – It is easy to accumulate points, and is it simple to redeem them. If you have the bundled AMEX then your points accumulate faster. There is annual benefit of lounge passes if you travel abroad quite often. However, I have been charged a fee for approved lounge in the past in Dubai. Their fraud detection is great and you can easily flag any disputed transactions. There are great offers on points for redeeming against credit payments at times.
