I would like to share some insights regarding my experiences with Natasha from the World Gym Australia head office in handling my concerns. The issue I raised was quite serious, and I anticipated it would be addressed appropriately. Natasha was very pleasant and friendly during our phone conversation, demonstrating a kind personality, and she was… Read more

cooperative and empathetic toward me. I appreciate her efforts, understanding that she has limitations and that there are supervisors above her. However, I feel it is important to express some concerns about the overall professionalism at World Gym Australia, especially regarding the safety and well-being of women at North Lakes World Gym. Unfortunately, my personal information was shared with outsiders, and my full name was disclosed in a Google review response, despite informing staff that I am a victim of domestic violence and require sensitive handling. I have experienced stalking and harassment, which have significantly affected my well-being. It was distressing to observe groups gathering and following me around the gym, creating an environment that felt unsafe. Additionally, I noticed some security cameras were not operational and observed activities that appeared suspicious. I am also concerned about my ban from the gym, which seems to be aimed at protecting the gym's reputation. As a 51-year-old woman, my primary focus is on my personal journey—sharing this account was not for personal gain. I believe that respect and safety for women should be top priorities. Unfortunately, I feel that my safety was compromised, and I hope the gym will consider implementing further protective measures. I encourage others to report any unethical behaviour to help foster a safer environment for everyone. I have also noticed that some individuals at the gym appear intoxicated, and some follow me around, which I find concerning. These individuals may lack respect or proper conduct, and it is important to ensure a respectful environment. I also believe that visible signage regarding acceptable behaviour—such as prohibitions on harassment, staring, As Josh andhis best frind Tony have been acting and staring onyour womne i supct they have involvement in some activities —would be beneficial to reinforce expectations. To all women, please consider exercising caution with sharing personal details and remain vigilant in your surroundings and in the car park. Keeping detailed notes of any incidents and reporting them can help improve safety for everyone. Support each other and report concerns, as this can contribute to making the environment safer and more welcoming—because protecting the well-being of customers should be a priority for World Gym Australia.

Overall, most of the staff are rude and disrespectful. They lack manners, and Mr. Kurt Mudford, the owner, is arrogant, rude, and unprofessional. The personal trainers don't practice what they preach, and the machines are broken and not working; sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Very dirty toilets; when I was there, the facility was filthy and never cleaned. There are people who go there with no good intentions. You can see they’re not into fitness; they are there to look up women. This place's underworld, garbage-filled carparks, is very dirty most of the time. You often see bottles of alcohol. I am concerned that now young children go to the gym unsupervised and are exposed to dangerous people.

World Gym Burpengary gone downhill fast. This week, no schedule at all nothing posted, no app update, no email. Walked in for sprint class empty. Just me, the bike, and two other members and a trainer who looked as confused as I was and no vibe. Yesterday Same thing zero people. That warm, chatty community we all loved? Wiped out. Feels like they… Read more

flipped a switch and forgot to tell us. Equipment’s still there, but who cares when you’re training alone in silence? Absolute waste. Won’t bother again if it doesn’t improve .

I just want to cancel my membership and they are not allowing me to cancel I have called consumer protections and they said that as a consumer you have aright to cancel your membership. 0/5 would still be generous. 1. High-pressure sales from the first minute. Tried to push me into paying a joining fee and signing up on the spot. Only after saying no four times did they magically produce a “one-time special” to waive it. If the fee can disappear that easily, it was never real, just a pressure tactic. 2. Broken equipment, zero… Read more

accountability. Machines were constantly out of order. When I raised it with staff, I was told to fill out an online form because equipment maintenance “isn’t their responsibility.” I did the form anyway. Twelve weeks later, nothing was fixed. Same broken machines. Same excuses. 3. Cancellation process designed to trap you. Tried to cancel. Had to contact them three separate times before they actually processed it. They refused to tell me my final billing date despite repeated requests. Then they charged me an “overdue” fee after I’d closed the account. You can’t make this stuff up.

This place is a masterclass in how to run a gym like a scam, not a service business. Inept staff, broken systems, and zero respect for members. I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would train here unless they enjoy being treated like a problem instead of a customer.

Avoid.

World Gym Maitland has staff that don't make you feel welcome. They won't greet you as you walk in and they just won't talk to you in the gym to ask how your progress is going.

Follow-up  · The facilities are well maintained. The equipment is very good. I have never done any classes. With the exception of one trainer, its doesn't have a very friendly staff.

Ashmore World Gym (Gold Coast) The mens bathrooms stink so bad!! I can't believe it meets any WHS provisions for bathrooms and air quality.. The urinal needs to be plumbed (not those nonsense waterless ones) and the toilet exhaust doesn't do it's job (vents need cleaning and/ or needs a more powerful fan). The sauna in there also stinks (sweat… Read more

that just dries and never washed) and they put a wall mounted fan in the bathroom to blow around the stink...?

There's no bathroom airlock doors on either the mens or womens bathrooms. The stink is vile, you have to hold your breath! For such a renowned gym, this is not acceptable. They also have completed a refurbishment but if the bathroom stinks that bad, it's not a completed (or well done) refurbishment. You can smell the bathroom out into the gym, reception area and upstairs (where the mats are). Gym itself is great with lots of equipment. Amenities stink terribly. FIX IT please!!

I joined World Gym Penrith in 2024 with a membership that included a 10-visit pass to other World Gym locations. A few months later, a 50km restriction was introduced and applied retroactively, without any direct notice—despite our contract clearly stating that changes must be agreed to in writing by both parties. When I raised this, I was told… Read more

there was nothing they could do, other than offer a one-week membership extension or a single guest pass. I also disputed a body scan marked as “used” on my account, which I never took. Even after escalating the issue to NSW Fair Trading, the gym declined to offer a resolution or cancel the contract without charging a fee.

The gym floor itself is solid, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust. If you’re considering joining, be aware that contract terms may change mid-way—and you could be left with no flexibility or support when they do

Happy to steal your money – Poor account keeping - happy enough to sign you in in the gym but any account queries are done via email - if you decide to leave the gym be prepared to not be answered and continue to be charged the membership fee!!! Oh and if you ‘miss’ a payment they charge you $14 on top of your membership fee Show details

Very poor customer service by Palmerston’s world gym – Palmerston world gym had a very poor experience mainly because of poor staff training Signed for a 30 day membership then they continued to charge me for a month more before I picked it up on my statement They are telling me I need to give a 30 day cancellation which is impossible on a 30 day membership The manager proceeded to charge me for 30… Read more

days after because I had not sent a cancellation letter on a 30 day membership Was told several types of poor information by a lot of staff Be careful with joining this gym The month I was there most of the saunas and ice bathes were broken and most of the lockers in the men’s change rooms were not usable The staff are in need of a lot of training The days are gone when you can feed customers with a lot of rubbish and think you can get away with it I would not be using Palmerston’s world gym again

If you want the best, then stop looking, you've found it) – World Gym Chullora is absolutely awesome. The staff are cool cats but they are friendly and willing to help. I've also been to Cairns and Townsville and they are equally as good. The equipment is top notch. Patrons are serious about their workouts. It can be a little intimidating being around six packs and lat packs, big biceps and huge quads,… Read more

but you either take inspiration from it, or find a less serious gym (e.g. Anytime Fitness). Of all the gyms I've been to in over 25 years, Hardcore is consistently clean, well stocked with WORKING equipment, have room to move, are well ventilated, and filled with inspiring people.

Awful place to try and cancel a membership – One of the worst experiences with any gym in Australia. World gym in Malaga promised a major refurb before i signed up nearly 12 months ago and still no sign of any change. Ive waited out my minimum term contract and asked to cancel various times with very to little response from the customer service manager. A further 7 payments have came out of my account since i have tried to cancel. Still an ongoing battle.....DO not sign up! Show details

Management is Appalling @ Midland – The gym facilities itself, is great. But don’t expect to be able to cancel your membership easily. I knew there was a $200 free for cancelling your membership before the “minimum term”. I did the right thing, waiting out my “minimum term”, emailed them more than 30 days out (another criteria they put in place) notifying them to cancel my… Read more

membership at the end of it’s minimum term. They emailed me back acknowledging they had record the email and said “Thank you for letting us know!” and asked a follow up question on why I was cancelling. I reached the end of my “minimum term” and am still getting notifications from the debit company that they are still trying to take money out of my account. I have now sent 3 emails to them, each time explaining the mistake they have made in not following through and cancelling my membership that they acknowledged back on the 6th of November. The debit company is still trying to take money out of my account. I have since forwarded my email thread to the managers email with no response yet. I continue to get emails back (with no signature, so I don’t know who they are from) making up a new and invalid excuse as to why I am being charged and why my membership has not been cancelled? The latest one is “It is a 30-day notice process, if your payments go through successfully. In this case they have not.” I was given a free membership 12 months (that I’m extremely grateful for) but that in turn means I should have never been charged anything, at any point. So whoever sent this reply, is just making things up! Each time they reply it’s a new and invalid excuse? I did the right thing. I even checked with the receptionist staff on the 9th of October as to what I need to do to cancel. I follow their instructions. I emailed in writing, I gave more than 30 days notice and said I wanted to cancel at the end of my membership contract. The debit company they use are relentless and continue to email, text and call me for this payment that I should not be being charged. To say I am extremely disappointed and so very frustrated is an understatement.

The best possible gym in australia – It’s just painful that they don’t have a card to make it convenient for you to travel to different city. Rather then that they are best standard gym

No towel no train no worries – A lot of staff. No one cares that there is usually 3 to 4 people not bothered with towels. Very dirty right from opening. Extremely hot in summer. Kids under 18.

Loud Damaging Music – Very good facilities but the thumping music volume levels are too high for comfort and damaging, especially if you like to listen to your own music with headphones you may regret taking membership. Great equipment - Rotten attitude – I cancelled my membership at World Gym Albury in February 2020 and no response from them until June when they advised that they were reopening. Good Equipment - Poor Service – At the Penrith location, gym equipment is mostly good quality and they have a decent range. The Male staff and owner are mostly good. All staff should be made aware that good Customer Service goes a long way, and is what keeps them in a job. Without us they wouldn't have a job.
