Why is my sound bar cutting off unexpectedly?

My unit also shuts off after a long period of being switched on and the TV channel is not changed for some hours and also if, while watching something on You Tube, the clip is paused for any reason. I can only surmise that unit appears to have a preprogrammed sensor which activates after a certain period of time and there has been no activity from the TV remote. For the You Tube case, the sensor also determines that there is no signal coming through from the TV, so it switches off. Hope this makes sense

Bluetooth connection to Alexa has failed and despite numerous attempts to reconnect, it stubbornly resists reconnection. I notice the bluetooth light blinks instead of steady light. Is this material? Also, randomly when receiving TV input and/or if muted for a few minutes, it turns itself off and needs to be restarted. Has the unit failed?

I can't answer the question about "Alexa" as I have never tried to use that function. The switching itself off if muted for a few minutes happens to my unit as well. Especially if I have the TV tuned in to YouTube or another streaming channel and have paused the program I am watching. I have got into the habit of just switching it on again as soon as I press the "Play" button. Methinks that is a Firmware issue.

If tv has ARC capability can the sound bar be connected to the optical instead. When connected to the arc it would ramdomly play off. Sounds much better connected to optical. Also can the control for direct tv be used without sound bar control? Thanks.

There is a procedure for transferring the sound control to the TV remote. it is in the manual. But having had experience with a previous model Yamaha sound bar, we found that often it would also operate the inbuilt speakers in the TV as well, which would actually spoil the sound quality. So this time we elected to put the TV speaker sound on "0" via the TV remote and just use the sound bar remote to control the sound. The TV remote is just used for On/Off, Input feed control (HDMI from a DVD player, Digital TV, Cable TV, USB Stick, other Apps) and free to air channel selection.

Is it okay to use it with the karaoke microphone?

If it is via a Bluetooth connection, it should be just fine.
