I loved the idea of this sustainable bed base. However the cardboard squinches up and doesn’t reach the edges of the mattress. Its cavities collects dirt and dust and the cardboard flaps are always coming apart. I have found this a very frustrating product. Show details

Okay for a short while. We used it twice in the span of 2 years. Each time for 3 months when my parents visited. Everytime you sleep and wake the Bed needs to be adjusted from the top and bottom. The folding design means it contracts on itself quite easily and you have a floppy mattress on either side. I guess for the price that’s what you get Show details

Bloody brilliant bed! Set it up in no time, and it hasn't budged an inch since. Love that it's made from recycled materials but still tougher than my old wooden frame. Also, it's ridiculously easy to pack down if you ever need to move. If you're looking for a sturdy, stylish, and eco-friendly bed, this is it! Show details

Absolutely stoked with this bed! The setup was a breeze! no tools, no dramas, just up and ready in minutes. Was a bit suss on the whole 'cardboard' thing at thing, but this thing is rock solid! Bonus points for being eco-friendly and looking schmick Show details

Such a clever design! Love how easy it was to assemble It's lightweight but sturdy, and it actually makes the whole bed feel more supportive. Also love that it's made from recycled materials. Can't believe more people aren't using these! Show details

Sturdy and stylish! – Couldn't ask for a better bed. Strong, dead easy to set up and looks amazing in the room. Still can't wrap my head about the fact that it's made of cardboard it's like magic Show details

Who knew cardboard could be this strong? – V strong. Defs stronger than my old metal bedframe. I had mates sit on it, and it doesnt budge. Set it up was a bit touchy but figured it out in 20 mins and since then it hasn't moved. Absolutely recommend. Show details

Good idea in principle but only works well on carpet – Good idea in principle but only works well on carpet (maybe? I have no idea, it's just what's shown in all the promos) so based on this I'm going to say it's not worth the cost as this product is not cheap. The marketing material shows the product being assembled on a carpet and done so very smoothly. I bought it as I needed a bed base in a pinch… Read more

for an elderly relative who can't sleep on a mattress on the floor and getting a bed base is annoying and difficult to transport. My spare room has floor boards and I quickly discovered that the product doesn't really work on a slippery surface. I had to get help to open up the bed base, and then clumsily secure it with some weights to keep it from collapsing while we put the mattress on top. Even then it doesn't really look good as you can see it's not fully open underneath. I'll keep it as it's the best thing I can find for what I need but the rating reflects the value for money. Don't recommend for wooden surfaces unless you are desperate. Can't comment on how it works on carpet as I haven't used it there. Also to note that I did reach out to the company's customer service who did offer some trouble shooting but none of it worked, and to be honest, at this price point a product should be intuitive to use.

Yona bed base – I absolutely love it, no words can describe how useful and convenient it is. I always got a headache when deciding brands and the quality. Now, I got Yona for myself. I’m totally stress-free. Can’t imagine how strong that can hold a person, I thought card board can’t lift a person, but I was wrong. Thanks Yona and the team members that gives good advices and answer through all my wonders. Wish you all the best

Interesting and promising concept, poor execution and design – I had quite high hopes for the Yona bed. Marketing touts sustainability and easy setup, it comes in a few colours and promotes its free shipping. Upon receiving the product, instructions are provided via a QR code. The instructions are relatively simple and the bed pulls out of the box with little hassle. Unfortunately at this point I noted that… Read more

there were issues. The upper half did not want to fold out until I used necessary force to jam it open it into its intended honeycomb structure. Once fully unfolded and the slats connected, I had placed my mattress onto the bed and saw that the dimensions of the bed differed significantly from my mattress. Alas, I gave it a chance and wanted to see if I could habituate.

The day-to-day use of the Yona Bed was increasingly difficult; the lack of transverse support meant that something as simple as changing bed sheets would cause the bed to fold up and the slats to unslot and extra time would have to be spent on essentially setting it up again, which was an irritating and unnecessary task, especially when you want to get to sleep... Further, as the bed would fold back up, I found my mattress would sometimes sag and look like it was going to fall off of the end. I was tolerant of the latter, until the sheer discomfort experienced while using the bed became apparent. At that point I had to put it away and bring out my conventional bed frame.

Engaging with the team at Yona was hapless and the process of return is guarded by company policy that seems to not be Australian Consumer Law compliant. As my purchase fell out of the "30 night trial period", I was refused a return and refund, irrespective of personal circumstances out of my control, preventing me from raising the return request earlier and the fact that the product does not work as intended. I have had to engage with State authorities in order to progress my return further and may have to raise a chargeback request with my financial institution.

While I would like to give even a shred of encouragement for effort and concept, not one factor in my experience would enable me to do so. I would be very weary, when purchasing this product so as to prevent people from buying overpriced (and dysfunctional) recycling.
