Have had this machine 2 years and it didn't skip a beat until last few days when it wasn't moving so I installed the tune up kit (super easy - instructions included) and it is working like a gem again. Picks up debris really well - pool is sparkling again. Had a Pentair Rebel 2 before that gave me nothing but problems so super happy now. Show details

Review after 1 year of use: If you're looking for a new pool cleaner, and you want something that is hassle-free and just works, the AX20 is the one to get. I was spending $$$ every few months buying diaphragms for an old Barracuda. I then tried the Kreepy VTX-7 (see my review on this site) but was disappointed in how much hassle it was to get it… Read more

set up, it got stuck often, and it never cleaned the pool properly.

By contrast, my experience with the AX20 has been great. The AX20 required almost no setup and just worked pretty much from the start. It keeps the pool clean and deals with most debris (including long, tough palm fronds) without a problem. It covers the whole pool (pebblecrete), including the walls. It's like a robotic cleaner without the hassle of having to take the cleaner in and out all the time.

In the past year, I have probably had to manually remove something stuck in the AX20 twice, and had to rescue it from the stairs once (it generally navigates these with ease). It's exactly what you want from a pool cleaner: set and forget, hassle-free.

I should mention that I have not used the Zodiac connectors to the skimmer box. Instead, I re-used the Kreepy Autoskim valve (which automatically controls the suction), and then 3D printed a small adapter to connect the valve to the Zodiac hose. It works perfectly.

Also, I am yet to have to replace any parts for the AX20. I expect that the tracks and scrubbers will need replacement in a few months but they're still going strong for now.

I’ve had the Zodiac AX20 about 3 months now, I set up the flow rate according to the instructions but it wouldn’t climb the walls, so I increase the flow at the skimmer box and it seems to be working ok now in fact it almost climbs out of the water. Show details

purchased a Zodiac AX20 13/12/2024 was advised by the local pool shop it does tiled pools and we have never had any issues and it climbs walls, WELL it does not, after a number of discussion with the pool shop and tried everything according to the owner Manuel the pool shop advised submit a warranty claim to Zodiac ,I was advised that warranty… Read more

claim has been rejected , there quoted words as follow, if the angles of the walls or the slipperiness of the tiles is not compatible with the cleaners design, there is NO mention of this in any of their paper work nor was their NO mention at the time or purchase I am still waiting on the Manager from Zodiac to call me to discuss this matter, I have a product that I paid $895.00 and it does not work as advertised , which leads to me its false advertising theirs nobody is taking any responsibility, the pool shop nor Zodiac themself , I was given the spill that this AX20 was 3 years in the making and tested on all types of pool and surfaces, after reading some other reviews regarding this product it seems to be an issue with the AX20 and tiled pools

I bought this pool cleaner nearly two years ago and had a warranty issue. Best Pool Supplies took my call and sorted the warranty in minutes. If only all customer service was this efficient and simple. Fantastic service and knowledge. I have purchased many items from BPS and every time they deliver a quality product. I highly recommend this business. Show details ·  1

I had mx6 second hand and fixed part myself and used it for a year which was working good. I had been noticed ax20 the lastest one for a while. But it was expensive. One day found a brand new one from someone with a good price. So I got it. Tried it. This one has improved a lot. This one can climb up the walls and stick on the wall very well. Hopefully can help other people to consider. Show details ·  1

Best pool cleaner I’ve had – I’ve never written a review before but this thing is so good i had to. I’ve had the ax-20 for 4weeks now and this is by far the best pool cleaner I’ve ever had. Hasn’t got stuck once as it spins and reverses its way out of trouble. We’ve got a gum tree next door that’s constantly dropping leaves and gum nuts that used to get stuck in the kreepy… Read more

krawly diaphragm all the time but the ax-20 just sucks em up and keeps on going. Looked at the robot cleaners but for 2.5-3K for something I have to remove from the pool all the time to empty and charge seemed like more work to me. Ax-20 does seem to have a lot of moving parts so replacement of parts in the future could be an issue, but for the price (I paid $900 Australian) I’ll just buy another one. Best decision ever.

For reference, pool is 9m x 4.5m quartz render, tiled waterline. 2hrs and it’s completed a full clean.

Expensive for maintenance. No value for money – I received the AX20 from the pool builder in 2022 it was working fine for couple of years. After about 2 years it stopped moving. Replaced the tracks but still not working. It was given to check by Pool and Spa warehouse but they asked for $410 for cleaning and seal kit. It is not worth to repair for that price. For about $900 pool cleaner, I expect to use it at least 4-5 years but high maintenance cost makes it not valuable. Show details

Best pool cleaner – Excellent pool cleaner. I've had creepys, robots, ax 10. This is by far the best pool cleaner I've ever had. I started with a creepy always had issues with it getting stuck so I went to the ax 10. The ax 10 was a piece of junk kept getting jammed up always forever cleaning it and in jamming leaves etc. So I went to a robot. The robot was awesome… Read more ·  1

and did a good job then it died after a year I was not happy as I spent alot of money on it. Got it fixed and sold it. I then went to the ax 20 this was my last hope. Wow is all I can say this thing never stops never gets jammed just runs all day everyday and keeps the pool real clean. Very happy with this product had it for 2 years now and no issues. Only problem I had with this product was the initial cost of $1300 but I see you can get them for $800 online.

ZODIAC AX20 ,top points from me – Extremely happy with my Zodiac AX20 pool cleaner , previously another brand I had was always getting stuck in corners /steps and on the pressure plate which I found was annoying . The Zodiac AX 20 breezes through my previous trouble spots and so far no issues with this machine it does a great job .The machine likes my pool and I like the machine . So far, I can recommend the Zodiac Machine model AX 20 Show details ·  4

Love it, works so well! Time saver for sure! – We had a zodiac cleaner with a bag and was forever cleaning the bag out. So this time we thought let’s go with the hosed cleaner. Cheaper and works just as well. The cleaner goes up the sides of our pool (which is 6ft deep up the deep end) and it completes a whole pool clean (9.5m x 4m) in a couple of hours. It has the revolving brushes on the… Read more

bottom so it also moves dirt stuck to the bottom of the pool without having to get my pool broom out and scrub! It has 360 degree move ability so it gets every nook. It’s small enough to keep in my outdoor box and lift out of the pool with ease. Highly recommend this cleaner to anyone looking for a new cleaner.

Terrible, don’t buy this Zodiac cleaner – Purchased the new AX20 Activ cleaner recently, set it up exactly as per manual and the damn thing just won’t climb the tiled walls. The pool is brand new, all the equipment works perfectly but this cleaner just sits at the bottom of the pool spinning its wheels when it gets near the curved bottom walls. Called the Zodiac support team, two weeks… Read more

later they they get back to me and offered no help but to request I return the cleaner for a warranty check up, they arranged the courier who was suppose to come next day, one week later I’m still waiting. Complete waste of time, I suggest if you’re looking for a suction cleaner, stay away from this brand.

Brilliant! – Having tried Kreepy Krauly RX Tank (likes mating with stair corners right on the suction hole), Bunnings barracuda (get what you pay for), Zodiac ex6000 iq which is great (just gets tiresome lifting in & out and cleaning after it picks up what seems to be 3 grains of sand) & the Onga Hammerhead (love this but our pool corners aren’t L shaped with… Read more ·  1

about 10cm straight in each corner it could get stuck for over 10 mins before moving on) & reading the reviews on the Zodiac AX10, thought I’d take a leap of faith on the AX20. Set it up, checked the flow rate, adjusted as per instructions and voila, I’m in pool cleaner heaven! Up the walls, up the stairs, around the corners, it’s just beautiful to watch. Highly recommend! Not sure on concrete pools though, I reckon the scrubbers would wear out way too fast.
