Power Force Pool Vacuum Cleaner – I'm giving this a 5 star based on performance, value and maintenance. I have waited for 6 months to write the review to see if it holds up. So far so good. I have read a number of bad reviews and I am surprised however I must say there is a fair bit of tinkering to do in terms of suction balance and hose management to get it to peak performance.… Read more
For example if it is not doing your walls then your suction is too low, won't come off the walls too high. Sticks in a corner twist the hose until you get it flowing. All sounds obvious and trivial but it makes a difference. The system is simple, solid and the diaphragm lasts which is more than I can say for the zodiac T5 where I (at least) went through a diaphragm ever 3 - 4 months. For half the price, half the maintenance and superior performance I definitely recommend the power force over the T5 or the MX6 for that matter which I find cleans beautifully but was costing me about $75 every 6 months on parts not to mention the price tag...
Works well for me, but still early days – Not sure which version I have but I bought it in November 2024. I've had many pool cleaners over the years and the ALDI one works just as good if not better than more expensive brands. It takes the usual adjustments to keep it from getting stuck. A good hose is important I believe, it's part of the system. I use a brand new Baracuda hose. There… Read more · 3
are just a few issues with the pressure regulator. I could not use the softish couplings as they collapse under suction and suck in air. Lucky I had some 90 degree bits left from other cleaners. Also, the pressure bypass is sucking in air by building up a vortex. The bypass slot should be facing down and not sideways. I managed to make it work by covering the slot with the weight I use to keep the skimmer plate down. Other than that I am very happy with the cleaner, especially for the price!
Now I an fix it – Hi I am Ernie and I speak from experience. The ALDI Pool cleaner is an excellent product Which I have had now for about 3 Years. It started going sluggish...stopping now and then and eventually sucked itself against the Wall or floor anywhere and just sat there. I did suspect a blockage initially , or a bad pump ,but had good suction. After a few… Read more
Days of trial and error and few choice words and consulting this here troubleshooter I came to the conclusion that it may be the DIAPHRAM inside the cleaner body. I looked up the disassembly procedure on U-Tube....Ordered two spare yellow Diaphrams on Amazon ( $ 17 ) and installed a new one....dont forget to spray some light Oil spray into the tube to make assembly easier. Now, it works perfectly...it is fast and cleans the Pool perfectly.
Good for one end of pool – Basically stays down deep end of the pool and gets stuck in a corner, keep dragging down to shallow end but returns to deep end. Tried lots of adjustments even getting in to pool with snorkeling gear to eyeball it, hasn't saved me anytime at all. Show details
Pool Cleaner cleans sand and leaves off your pool bottom, even climbs walls – I am pleasantly surprised that this Aldi product does its job and even climbs walls. You just have to be patient, as it is slow in covering the full pool surface and seem to follow some path due to water pressure differential. I found that the connectors that come with the cleaner don't work. My pool pump was sucking hard, but hardly any water… Read more
goes through those connectors. I reverted to my pool skimmer's cap (installed at the time I put the pool in) and it worked fine. Turn your pool pump to the 'high' setting when using the pool cleaner.
Great Product! It has Been in use for nearly 5 years – The diaphragm just went on it! i.e. It was intermittently working and slow and I could not work out why it wasn't working till I pulled it apart. Bought one on eBay! (The one in the PowerForce Platinum) is a Zodiac brand one and the dimensions are 15 cm long x opening one end 4.6 cm x 3and the opening the other end is 4.5 cm. You can get a knock… Read more
off for $12.99 or an original Zodiac replacement made in China (The same for $27-$45 each). I bought one of each and they both looked and felt the same quality.
Did not work for my pool design – Thought I'd give it benefit of doubt at $50 markdown ALDI with low expectations and was not disapointed.. Pretty standard 10m x 4m rectangular pool, rounded edges and stairs. Runs along one edge, gets stuck in corner for a while, runs along next or same edge. Played with all the adjustments. I'm no expert, but this was pretty much rubbish. No,… Read more
wait... I forgot... distinction in fluid dynamics and engineering. I am an expert. It is pretty much rubbish. Can't imagine that the hydraulic shock created by the diaghphram is great for the rest of the system either. I could actually observe a corresponding variation in load on the motor with my multimeter! Nerd allert. Then I was picturing the unrelenting knocking being transferred from the pool walls to the surrounding damp earth and turning it to slurry. Arrghh. Enough. Disconect !!
Took it back same day for refund and bought a new hat and sunscreen instead. Manual gets it done right every time.
This thing saved me soooo much time manually vacuuming the pool – I saw this for $50 one day at Aldi and though I'd give it a try (after manually cleaning our pool for years at the rental we were in). It took a few tries to get the weight clip thing to sit in the right place so that it was flush on the pool floor...but once I got it rocking, it's been awesome for a year or so now. It climbs the walls, and gets around pretty much everywhere (minus the stairs), and saved me a ton of time. Show details
Performs better than expected, – Bought about 26 months ago to replace a zodiac which worked beautifully for three years and then parts had to be replaced (which became an expensive exercise). I saw the one in ALDI for $99 and hoped to get a year out of it and it's still soldiering on after two years of 24/7 in the pool. Had an issue with it going slow, but found the problem… Read more
was related to fine cracks in the hose joins. I pulled it apart last week to examine the diaphragm and it seems in reasonable shape, have found replacements if needed online. The only negatives I can see are that the hose that comes with it doesn't fit with standard hoses, and it doesn't climb over the steps like the barracuda did. I am fortunate not to have a lot of tall trees nearby so I couldn't say how it would perform under heavy load of leaves. No complaints here.
Surprisingly good – I missed out on the last Aldi pool cleaner, which was a rebranded Aquasphere. I have been using the Aquasphere (previously known as the Zodiac Contractor) for around 20 years, having bought about three of them over the years and exchanged parts as they wore out. My plan was to but the Alid version to add more parts. I had seen poor reviews of the… Read more
Power Force, but because of Aldi's no-quibble refund policy, took a chance. The cleaner has worked flawlessly for a couple of weeks now, needing no adjustment whatsoever. It fitted my hose and the works very well at the pressure which had been dialled in for the Contractor. In fact, it moves more freely and doesn't get stuck. And it picks up everything in its path.
dissapointed – purchased October 2019. looks and moves like a pool cleaner, it just did not clean. It was bought to replace my existing power force cleaner that has worked brilliantly for over three years. This new one would repeatedly leave small bits of leaf debris (12 mm) behind or simply move them to the side. I tried to adjust the weight and the speed but nothing made any difference. Aldi gave me a full refund, no issues there. Show details
Bottom end of market – The Aldi Auto pool cleaner is basically ( you get what you pay for) doesnt fit au hoses and you cant buy the hose sections shown in the product manual, had to use a heat gun to connect to my hose, it only wants to clean the skimmer box end of the pool no matter how many times I drag to the other end.... It was OK, but as time went by it stopped working quite often – I am updating this review, because it worked well for a while, but then it just started "stopping" at any old time. I replaced the diaphragm, but I just couldn't get it running consistently. I bought a REBEL 2 which is running very well. Old review below: The ALDI Pool Cleaner is very good for the price. Takes a little bit of mucking around to… Read more
get it going, but then it works very well. The diaphragm in mine wore out (when it sucked up a sharp piece of plastic from the bottom of the pool) but I bought 2 replacement Zodiac diaphragms online from "mrpoolmanshop" for $28.95. The new diaphragm was very easy to install and the cleaner was working again better than ever. Here is the link: [link removed]
Find out how ALDI Power Force Pool Cleaner compares to other Suction Pool Cleaners
Know better, choose better.
Aldi Automatic Power Force Pool Vaccum Cleaner – It took some time to get it working properly - problems I had 1. getting it correctly connected to the skimmer box ie must be air tight with any leaks being underwater to avoid sucking air into pump - hose must be submerged properly to cleaner head unit - experiment with this using weight collar provided 2. fix any air leaks between skimmer box… Read more
and pump ie switching valves and intake plumbing as any air leaks will lead to build up of air in pump thus reducing pump suction efficiency. my unit is now working great including wall cleaning ie almost comes to surface before falling away to bottom again - keep a record of your hose connections when removing from pool as its tricky to set up again
Unfortunately it doesn’t work – It sucks, but doesn’t move. I’ve tried every possible setting and variable. But it just sits there like a rock! A 24hr turn round from sale to return! I guess that you get what you pay for. But I gave it a go and the benefit of the doubt. A Show details
I've spent a lot more on automatic cleaners that don't work nearly as well as this one – I have a huge gum tree next door so little gum nuts and gum leaves are a big issue. This cleaner works better than the other bigger name cleaners I have had and is a fraction of the cost. The only issue is that the diaphragm that comes with it is not up to the required standard but got a replacement Zodiac one at Bunnings for under $20 and so I am a mile in front. Show details
Aldi pool cleaner diaphragm trouble – The ring on the diaphragm on a zodiac is 2 mm bigger so diaphragm comes loose use tie wire where ring goes and cover with ring works like a charm . Just make sure no jagged edge on tie wire . Aldi need to start selling the correct size diaphragm zodiacs for zodiacs barracuda for barracuda if you get my drift Show details
the diaphram and Complete Unit – the diaphram did not last, however you can use a Zodiac, google it, I did and it lasted well the whole unit, Well, do the Maths its cheap if it lasts a year, then its by far the cheapest option in comparison to pay the exorbitant price for another model Simple really, works well, ensure your pressure is right and backwash the pool to keep this… Read more
high, mine climbs walls and even tries to escape, so Its Great, really
buy two and get 2-3 years out of them, as well as the pipes
Stage Two
the original unit got trampled due to kids activity I am presuming, but I bought a further two units So this latest unit, I connected it up - threw it in the pool and walked away, MAGIC. it works just great and I have a second unit for when this one dies, which it will. But if it last a year I am already in credit - do the Maths, Buy a hugely expensive unit at over $800 and it lasts 5 years, maybe, or go down this path. Make your own mind up
Diaphragm broke after 3 weeks – Worked great when installed, but only lasted about 3 weeks and stopped working, I found the diaphragm had cracks but can’t find replacement ones . Aldi store said to contact manufacturer not their problem, so much for warranty! Does anyone know if the diaphragm can be purchased , I just want my pool maintained. Show details
Aldi Pool Vacuum – This product is rubbish. Sit it on the pool bottom and it goes beautifully, till it reaches a wall. It then goes up the wall, falls back into the pool UPSIDE DOWN and stays that way = Useless. Tip - avoid ALDI pool vacuum cleaners at all costs, don't be fooled like me!! Show details
Another Kreepy Krauly Clone – Opened the box and it is what I expected, another suction style crawler that agitates the algae and other grit on the walls of the pool. They have a rotating valve that cycles a pressure wave to vacuum the grit that the silicone skirt dislodges. These pool cleaners are not designed to vacuum seeds, leaves and twigs from the pool and this is… Read more
why we had to buy this as a replacement to the Kreepy that we broke.
The twigs and seeds that end up in the bottom of the pool should be vacuumed up by a vacuum attachment that is used by a person.
The creeper style pool cleaners should not be left in the pool 24/7 or the chlorine/acid/UV combination will destroy the plasticiser and kill the pool cleaner.
