Zodiac G4

Don't buy! – I guess 6 years ago, after having a fantastic run with a Kreepy Krawley, I was persuaded by the the pool shop guy that the Australian Zodiac would eat the Kreepy, being a proud Aussie I invested my $800 in what I would sum up as the worst thing I have ever purchased in my 63 years on this earth! To back that up, I was standing on my nature… Read more
strip one day when my Neighbour approached me, I noticed that he had a Zodiac part in his hand I asked him what were his thoughts on the alleged cleaner, he said word for word "that it was the worst thing that he had ever bought!"Wow! I wasn't alone!
Shortly after purchasing this heap of junk, I approached the pool guy to see if he would trade it in on a Kreepy he said No!
For about two years I left it in the garden shed and did the pool manually, but recently we upgraded the pool surface and replaced the pump and filter so I dusted off the old G4 and set it going, it ran for fully 5 minutes one of its longest runs ever! and then it just languished, I often thought that it should be called "The languisher"
Today I tried to keep it going but in the end gave up and cleaned the pool manually, if we weren't selling the house, I would chop this thing into small pieces so it couldn't be foisted on another sucker and send it back to mr Zodiac. I would then buy a Kreepy
Its misrepresented as a pool cleaner, its an underwater ornament!
Excellent – Excellent cleaner not much to go wrong best cleaner i have had and i have tried a few would definately recommend it i have lent it to my mates to try in their pool and they have all been happy and purchased the Baracuda G4 now Best pool cleaner ive ever had doesnt stop working because of small objects like my kreepy krauly did very quiet efficient… Read more · 1
cleaner only one moving part does a great job had it 3 years now only had to replace the diaphragm once cost ($20) highly recommend not having to clean the pool myself and quiet not like the jack hammering of the kreepy krauly
Did the job fine but got old quicker than expected – Got this when my pool was new 6 seasons ago, did the job well (B shaped pool, 45k ltrs tiny pebbled base concrete inground pool) in 6 years over all was good but i need to replace this now as parts are just too expensive, already in 6 years i have replaced all the sections of hose, the diaphragm twice, the foot and the rubber disc, i read that… Read more
people get 12+ years out of their cleaner, therefore the 700 dollars+ I've spent on this (original retail and parts) equates to 100+ bucks a year!! now the 'sail' needs replacing as it has become powdery and brittle (maybe due to uv damage as pool is in constant sunlight in summer and under a blanket in cooler months) but it is 60 odd bucks for a bit of plastic with a hole in it...sheesh!! i've super glued it together about 6 times as in the course of daily cleaning it just crumbles in a new area to where i've previously glued it. its time is nearly up, which is a shame as i just replaced the hose 6 months ago. i guess i'll pop it on ebay for parts. But my review may help in a case where you're brisbane or north and want to get a good value for money cleaner, as i would expect to have gotten a better lifespan from a good brand. maybe in southern states the uv issues might not be so bad and deterioration may not be such an issue. Overall it's good at what is was made to do, but keep looking unless your convinced otherwise. it never got stuck and did its job great...it just seemed to self destruct in my pool too quickly. (or maybe i just expect too much and $100 a year for a cleaner is the norm) Did the job it was made to do Everything lasted just past warranty period, cost of spare parts, not much aftermarket stuff.
OK – Not a bad pool cleaner. Definitely quieter than Kreepy Krauly which I had at my parents house. If you have any tight corners I'd recommend getting a geared cleaner that can back out if needed. Great Pool Cleaner in general. Simple to use. Its simple design means it rarely clogs up or needs attention from a suction perspective. I initially chose it… Read more
because of the large number of gum nuts and flowers that fall in my pool. It regularly gets stuck in tight corners and at my steps. Drives me nuts - every time I go to check it seems to be stuck again! I've persevered for nearly 4 years but it is definitely getting worse as the replaceable parts wear out.
Excellent – I decided to get a G4 and not a G2 - which is apparently the same - because I read questionable reviwes on the G2 (that it falls over and stuff). I'm happy that I got the G4 even though they discontinued its production (you will still be able to buy the parts for it). I always hurt my back whilst hoovering the pool manually and this thing is such… Read more
an awsome way to clean the floor!! It get's up the algae too! Once you learn how to assemble it you do it quickly afterwards to get it operate. I'm a woman and I found it an excellent thing, makes my life so much easier and I get to enjoy my pool the way I should. I can recommed it to everyone. Cleans my pool extremely well and gets up the algae from the floor too. Quiet so that's a bonus. Nothing really, I haven't had any problems with it it works brilliantly. If you ever wonder why it doesn't go everywhere in the pool it might be that your backflowing water hole is directed to the surface of the water which will prevent from the G4 to go on it's natural wonder around and it might set its route to the same. I know my pool holes can not be moved downwards so I have to assist the hose sometimes by hand but it's not the fault of the product, I love it!
Terrible – Its defector rings wedges itself under the nozzles. Okay take it off then. Sure thing. Then it doesn't matter what combination of hose length, hose weights or AD Valves settings you use, it will push itself into a corner in less than five minutes and not come out. Of course if you've got your cover on, you won't know its just putting away in… Read more
one place damaging your surface. Given the supervision it requires, it's only marginally better than manual cleaning. Yes it does clean the pool when it isn't stuck. I've never owned another type so I can't compare. A friend of mine says it is quieter than his Kreepy. IT GET STUCK!!!! Constantly. Utterly infuriating! If you have any steps or corners that aren't long sweeeping curves or if your heating inlet nozzles are the protuding cage type DO NOT BUY IT!
Terrible – I can not recommend this cleaner. Please trial before purchase as it may not work in all pools. There are better cleaner around for this price. Easy to setup. Expensive. Constantly getting stuck at steps, ledges, corners, and lights. Flexible connector replaced twice under warranty. Mat replaced once under warranty.
Good – Would definitely recommend this pool cleaner, worked extremely well and is still working 2 1/2 years after purchase without fault. Just be mindful that it does get stuck on the pool plug located at the bottom of your inground pool if the plug doesn't have a flush fitting cover over it. Great Pool Cleaner, worked well and was a great value for… Read more
money compared to other cleaners around the same price. We brought it as we were advised it was the best on the market at the time. It also came with a free pool blanket - great bonus. Got stuck on the plug located in the deepend of our inground pool - would have to manually pull it off.
