Wouldn’t recommend this product as it has a low amount of iron in it, which has lead to me being iron deficient. I’m currently on my second pregnancy and throughout my first I never had any issues with my iron levels whilst I was using Elevit which has 60mg of iron, however Blackmore has 5mg of iron. If you want to use this as a prenatal you will… Read more

also need to take an iron supplement. I was recommended by my GP to switch to this brand as many women say it helps with morning sickness, however it personally didn’t help with nausea.

Don't take unless you want to poop uncontrollably – Terrible. Within 2 days of changing from my regular prenatal (Eagle Tresos Natal) to Blackmores I have had the worst gastrointestinal problems I've ever had in my life. Don't cheap out my friends, unless you want a bowel cleanse. Show details

Absolutely horrible – I’m 25 weeks pregnant & switched from Swisse pregnancy vitamins to these & after two days of using them, I will be switching back to Swisse & throwing out the entire bottle of Blackmores. Throughout my pregnancy, I haven’t experienced reflux & gas as bad as I have the last two days/nights of taking these. I am having to sleep sitting completely… Read more

upright tonight (as I write this) because the reflux is so bad. Do not use these whilst you are pregnant!

Has everything you need! – There are so many multivitamins, pregnancy ones as well on the market. Did a ton of research and chose Blackmores because it contains the recommended amount of nutrients (see www.nrv.gov.au). Elevit says that they have a higher amount of folic acid and iron than other pregnancy multivitamins but I don't think that more is necessarily better if… Read more

you're healthy to begin with. Also, Elevit is pretty expensive! I also liked that Blackmores contains omega 3. Some other brands I have looked at with similar price points to the Blackmores do contain the recommended amount of nutrients but didn't have the omega 3, which I think is nice to have. So I used this for my pregnancy. Didn't experience any side effects, worsening of nausea or anything. I also felt like I had a lot of energy throughout my pregnancy and a lot of people commented that I didn't seem like a heavily pregnant woman in the final month because I was still active! Just had my baby who is very healthy and the birth went smoothly. I'm breastfeeding so I'm still taking Blackmores. This could be due to other factors, not necessarily the vitamins but I have an oversupply of breastmilk.

Definitely recommend to anyone thinking about having a baby or who is pregnant!

The only thing is that I got some weird rashes during pregnancy. No idea what caused it. I suspect I'm mildly sensitive to seafood and the vitamins do contain fish oil. But on a whim, I decided to take Elevit probiotics because I heard the L. rhamnosis is good for treating allergies and the rashes seem to have cleared up.

Excellent – Superior product in terms of ingredients, label and ease of swallowing. After comparing with 3 other brands, I go back to this one, and I actually feel better when taking it. Has everything you need in an easy-to-swallow capsule and this isn't scientific, but I actually feel better when I take it. I compared them to a bunch of other pregnancy &… Read more

breast-feeding supplements and a few things stood out:

1) the label is easy to read. I hate supplements that list the vitamins in a long sentence-like way. Makes it impossible to compare. Blackmores lists the ingredients in a table.

2)Has all the recommended elements including Iodine and fish oil, both of which are missing in other supplements. Likewise, some of the ingredients in other brands are too small to be beneficial. Blackmores doesn't skimp like some others do.

3)Although the somewhat larger than some others, these capsules are actually easier to swallow. I guess that's because they're gelatin coated, because I struggled with others and have never had an issue with these. They strike me as expensive, but I didn't compare prices on others.

Excellent – I took them from preconception to 13 months with my daughter and had a lovely healthy baby girl(perhaps TOO healthy at 9lb 3 ounces - I'm not a big lady!) who remained relatively untouched by illness for the 1st 12months of her life and I was myself very healthy throughout my entire pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. I've since gone on to have a… Read more

2nd baby and for numerous reasons I was much more incosistent with taking these supplements for my sons birth and early weeks. The results were that I was ill several times throughout this pregnancy with colds, flus and viruses and continued to get sick several times in the 2 months after his birth. I'm sad to say my son was also sick twice in his first 2 months of life.

Some of this can possibly be contributed to having a toddler about I'm sure... but she does not attend daycare or preschool, so has limited contact with bugs....so I can only sing the praises of this suppliment and the excellent results I had with it in my first pregnancy.

I've since gone back to religiously taking them and our general health has improved dramatically.

They are especially helpful I think in the early weeks of sleep deprivation where alot of mums may not be eating a proper balanced diet to provide all the right nutrition in their breast milk (anything quick will do - biscuit for lunch means less time eating and more time sleeping!)

I will most certainly continue taking them until my son is weaned and will DEFINITELY take them religiously for my next pregnancy. 1 supplement for all stages (preconception/conception/pregnancy and breastfeeding) - widely available - avialable in economical bulk packs - no unpleasant after taste. Biggest problem is remembering to take them and also the cost....but I think cost is an issue with vitamin supplements in general, not specifically this product.

Blackmore's Pregnancy and Breastfeeding – When I first started taking these for my first pregnancy I didn't see or notice a difference and I didn't experience any nausea directly associated with the product. Now that I've been breastfeeding a while I stopped taking these and noticed hair thinning etc. I've started taking them again as we prepare for a second child and I've noticed a steady milk supply and obviously having more vitamins in my diet my skin doesn't look as patchy.  Show details

Best pregnancy vitamin out there – I started taking Elevit as I didnt realise there were alternative pregnancy vitamins. Elevit made me so constipated I went from going to the toilet 1-2 times a day to once a week and that was little black stools. It also aggravated my morning sickness which was horrible. I switched to Blackmores and was surprised about how much better I felt ! I… Read more

Ok for me but consulates my baby – I switched from Elevit to this while breastfeeding and find it’s okay for me. It’s not the best but not the worst vitamin profile. I find it really constipates my baby if I forget to take it and it’s not worth the hassle so will be switching away.

Allergic reaction – I enjoy the size of this prenatal vitamin however I am getting severe hives and swelling of hands feet lips and face each time I take it. I’m very unsure what the ingredient is that is reacting with me. I have also been very backed up on this medication compared to others. Will switch back to elevit. Show details

Affordable all-rounder – It is a multivitamin, but doesn't have the highest levels of iron or vitamin C (if you have deficiency, like myself). It causes reflux / heartburn to a very uncomfortable level, and all burps after taking the capsules taste like the supplements. Must be taken with food, or soon after eating, for best absorption. I wouldn't recommend these,… Read more

because they're not the best on the market, BUT they're better than nothing. They're definitely priced accordingly, you get what you pay for, and competition is higher priced for good reason. Nonetheless, I have used these through 4 pregnancies now, and despite the side effects & the fact that they're not the best they are better than nothing and they are affordable.

It gives me reflux every time – This is the first preg vitamins i took as soon as i got to know am pregnant. And it gave me bad reflux. Switched to Elevit and it stopped. Used throughout 2 pregnancies – These are great. Can be found on sale at woolies or chemist warehouse at a fraction of the RRP. They are gentle on the stomach, don't cause constipation and don't repeat on you. I used these throughout both pregnancies and during breastfeeding with no issues and did not need additional iron supplementation. Highly recommend

Good alternative to Elevit – I had heard from people who used Elevit that it caused them to become a little "backed up" so I prefer these. I find Blackmores easy to swallow, don't have a gross aftertaste like some multivitamins and you can pick them up for a good price when on special (which is often) at Chemist warehouse.

Easy to swallow – I had difficulty swallowing elevit due to tablet size. So happy that this was recommended by my pharmacist as now do not have problem consuming it or making me nauseas. Although comparing the products Elevit has a higher content of the vitamins and minerals however this does not bind me up as experienced with Elevit in the past.

Highly recommend – I used these vitamins from start to finish of my pregnancy with both my 2 kids, and until i finished breastfeeding. Blackmores pregnancy vitamins were recommended to me by my midwife. I always felt great when i took my vitamins. And it's was great to be reassured i was taking the right vitamins for my babies.

Absolute best vitamins! – I used these vitamins throughout my entire pregnancy and now that I'm breastfeeding I still take them everyday. The vitamins are fantastic and I love that they don't make you constipated! They are competitively priced compared to other brands and I've almost always gotten them on special for $25 rather than paying retail $50-$60 for the 180 capsules.

Very happy with this product – I find this product really good- complete range of vitamins and minerals that I need for my pregnancy and can't beat the price. I haven't tried Elevit because Blackmores was so competitively priced. I have had no issues at all with constipation, gas etc. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I find the tablets a bit bulky to swallow- my gag reflex with pregnancy nausea is strong so I really have to concentrate to get them down!

Really not a fan – I used Elevit with my first daughter. I did have to take Metamucil but I think that's fairly standard with any supplement that has iron in it. I also have IBS so I need probiotic for that. I'm half way through 2nd preg now & doctor advised me to take Blackmores because the levels of the ingredients in Elevit was too high. caused night nausea, burping, constipation & massive swelling on my stomach (I looked 6 months pregnant when I was only 2 months in). The indigestion has made my throats is constantly on fire. Also what I'm really angry about is when I had my 12 week ultrasound, they had trouble viewing the baby & couldn't confirm the sex because of the air in my stomach. So I'm changing over well as early as I can before my next scan. Just wish I'd known what was causing all this earlier...

Saved me from too much nausea & vomiting – This product is heaven sent. My GP recommended a different brand of multivitamins on the early stage of my pregnancy but found that, the brand she gave me caused me too much nausea and vomiting plus a disgusting metallic taste. can attest how this MV helped me feel better. It has no metallic after-taste and I have observed that my energy level has improved since taking this wonderful capsules. Highly recommended to all expecting mums out there!!!

Fine so far – Been using this for almost two weeks since I found out I was pregnant, no major issues, I can't say whether it's helping my vitamin levels but overall there's been no major constipation like others have mentioned. I do feel a bit gassy/burping after taking it which lasts about an hour, I'd suggest eating - take tablet - eat a bit more because… Read more

there is a strange taste that comes up too... the actual tablets are reasonably sized, have fish oil and have a 'pleasant' taste/smell when they are near/in your mouth (haven't dared to let it dissolve or bite it though obviously!) so thats always a bonus

I bought this one because it was 40% off at Priceline

Great pregnancy vitamins – Used blackmores Pregnancy gold with my 2nd child and had no issues or symptoms. Once in a blue moon I did get the fishy after taste but that never bothered me. Tablets are a bit big and you require to take two. Currently using it again for my 3rd and still no issues.

good and bad – I've been taking blackmore's breastfeeding and pregnancy gold during pregnancy and a post-partum. Had no issues with it during pregnancy but since I've given birth, it gave me severe constipation. I wasn't sure what was causing the constipation until I stopped it and my bowels returned to normal...so really, it's a matter of trial and error.

Would not recommend – I started taking these tablets based on the reputation of the brand. After a week of severe bloating, horrible stomach pains and so much gas I have decided to swap to another brand that I had absolutely no problem with in my last pregnancy. Seriously - so bad are the gas/stomach pains it has been keeping me awake for hours at night. I have not enjoyed the start of this pregnancy at all due to being so uncomfortable.

3rd baby sooooo constipated! – I am now 10 weeks my Doctor recommend I use a supplement that had iron. So I choose blackmores as I have used it in the past it seemed fine. This time around after may trials with different things I have come to the conclusion this suppliment is the cause of my nausea, constipation and gas ! so as of Today I am officially giving it the flick . sorry but I won't be using blackmores again it just doesn't work for me this pregnancy.

Highly recommend – I gave this a try as soon as I found out I was pregnant... it's a new and improved formula and smaller capsule. I don't know what fishy smell is talking about i think it smells fine! U can't expect it to smell the flowers it's a multi vitamin for crying out loud haha. I love it i feel like it's everything my baby needs as well as myself. I feel confident taking this product :) love it

It is all you need in pregnancy – My GP recommended this product to me for a healthy, non-complicated pregnancy. This is the only supplement I took throughout my pregnancy and it was brilliant! Good and easy to swallow – These are smaller then other horse table sized pregnancy supplements I have tried and so it make them a lot easier to swallow. you can't handle the burp flavour of it. I find that these help a lot too with soothing my nausea especially now that I'm in my second trimester (if I stop taking them I start to feel like I'm in the nausea first trimester stage again). The major thing with these that I think could be improved upon is making it one capsule a day instead of 2.

Disgusting. Constant fishy breathe and reflux – Prefer the old formulae. This new version has fish oil in the capsule. Makes me gag after taking it. Tried different time of the day, before big meals, lots of water don't help at all. Throwing the unopened bottles. Other brands with fish oil don't have similar issues. Also need to take 2 so not really good value.

Good all rounder – I liked this vitamin - I researched all sorts of different ones and this one came highly recommended. My obstetrician recommended this one also, which is a big endorsement in my books.
