Useless warranty and poor quality control on fully re built engines. This company used a third party engine supplier to provide a fully rebuilt Suzuki engine even though that wasn't disclosed on purchase. The engine arrived without the timing belt kit, I was told it would have everything. The engine leaked a fair amount oil from the front oil… Read more

seal when installed. I sent them photos and replaced the front oil seal which wasn't seated properly. I sent them photos and they were fully aware of what I was getting done, they offered no alternative solution. I warned them it looked like a slow leak from the back oil seal as well. They just wanted to flick pass me to the secondary supplier Exclusive Japanese Parts, once I advised I had to take the engine out again to replace rear oil seal. They sent me the rear oil seal which I replaced. No oil leaks since. Twelve months later and I am still trying to get money from them for the parts I had to buy and some compensation for their parts and labour warranty. They are disputing everything. They have lied to Fair trading. Apparently its not under warranty if your new engine leaks oil from both the front and rear oil seal??? Good luck if you choose to deal with them

We went to Stephen and the team at Engines Plus and they replaced the engine on our Focus Titanium. They were very easy to deal with, very responsive and completed the work ahead of time. The replacement engine has been great and we couldn't be happier. Show details

Follow-up  · We took the car back for the nominated check up and everything went smoothly.

Use at your own risk – Avoid at all costs!! Better quality from a wreaking yard! They claim under 75,000km motor. Claimed 4-5days to replace the engine. Took two weeks they stated needed CV boots done. $440. "Sorry parts unavailable (after removal of old ones and found "they don't fit"). Claiming Had to get reco shafts to get boots, an additional $440 and stated "No… Read more

wheel alignment nessessary". Now need to replace both front tyres and get a wheel alignment. The turbo dump valve actuator was frozen and replaced with the one off my old engine. EGR failed in days so they sent a second hand one. After that was fixed the bump valve was found to be frozen open and it's been 4 working days and the replacement turbo (no doubt second hand) is yet to arrive. All up it's been two weeks of my engine having no power due to Very rusty parts and poor quality mechanics. Turbo arrived, second hand of course. No one will fit it so was sent a new one. Engines plus wanted a mechanical assessment done, mechanic assessed it as Very old, large amount fine metal particles in the oil, massive blow by and a sever know suddenly. Engines plus won't pay for my transport while they decide if the 2000ks I've traveled is the reason the engine failed or if they were supplied a bad motor. Months lasted and not a single reimbursement! Now they are refusing to return the motor! VCAT here I come! They're A total con!

Very poor and unprofessional at a fast pace – I bought a reconditioned motor from Engines Plus for $5200, the install was done poorly and had to keep returning trying to identify over heating issues. Steven said it would be ok just to get radiator cleaned and not replaced, after 2 weeks of them trying to find the issue they said it I needed to buy a new radiator. After 70,000km the timing… Read more

belt broke and damaged the head. Steven couldn't believe it as he only used Dayco belts in his motors. My mechanic took the head off and the broken belt was a brand that he had never seen before, the bill for that to be fixed was $2500. It only lasted another 3 months and I sold it for $500 for parts. That was two years of my life with constant stress, calls to Steven and bills. I have since bought a new car and will never again waste my money like that. Be careful believing fast talking people with instant answers.

This company is dreadful would never deal with them ever again – I have dealt with this company over the last 2 years so I've never got it right I bought an original engine from them fully reconditioned after about 6 months 12 months it did a head gasket they blame me for that because they said my radiator was wrong but it wasn't nothing wrong with the radiator I had it checked out by my mechanic they forgot… Read more

usually fix the heads so call under warranty but still charge me $500 to do it do you call that under warranty I don't think so it's not warranty if you have to pay money to get it sorted out now it's having problems again it's only done 40000 ks since they did the heads they say it's got a birdvale because of problems with LPG that's wrong because I had a Dyno Tune and now he's hanging up on me when I call and stating that it's under out of warranty and bad luck while he's warranty is not worth the paper it's written on and this is a bad review and I don't care because his business and Company engines plus I would never deal with them ever again I hope he tries to sue me because I'll take him to VCAT

Disgusting Service and Faulty Products – Bought 2nd hand engine with 3 month warranty, took 2 weeks to get receipt, 3 weeks to get engine which was damaged when it arrived, got mechanic to install engine which took 3 weeks, drove it out of mechanics, engine light on - needs new injectors. Engines Plus refuse to pay under warranty. Disgusting customer service. How do these companies stay in business??? Do not go near them. Show details

2004 Subaru Liberty GT engine replacement scenario – Had an experience a few years back, still annoys me today, so I thought no I won't let this go, stuff them, cut story short I spun a bearing in my 2004 Subaru Liberty GT Wagon, had EP build me a brand new engine and have my turbo reconditioned (new impellers etc) $8000+, wait took ages, a couple of months into warranty I had an annoying oil leak… Read more

just above turbo, sent it back, all fixed they said, my mechanic checked it, still there so I sent it back, again they said all fixed, my mechanic inspected again still there, they said must be a turbo issue, and we will send it back to the refurbishes, I spoke to the turbo guy personally, he said the turbo is perfect, its the engine, again leak appears, sent it back, this time EP said they found the filter box wasn't sealed properly and filter was all dirty and said I probably have a blow by issue because of it, huh? This went on for months, they said they we will get the mob who built the top of the engine to inspect it, but the guy is currently in hospital with broken legs, they said he will look at it once he's out, a few weeks later I ring to find out more and they tell me he is not interested in checking it out now.. what the? They are an absolute joke and waste of time, out of warranty now, EP knew for sure that they would have needed to dismantle half the engine to fix that leak and stooged me for months. Don't trust them.

Excellent service thank you Engines Plus – I had an engine replaced for my 2005 MAZDA MX5. Steve and Jeff provided an excellent service at a good price. My replacement engine had only done 40,000km and it was clean and in excellent condition. They showed it to me when I dropped the car off. The car was ready in 5 days as promised. The work was first class and the communication from these… Read more

guys was excellent. After a couple of weeks the coolant reservoir was cracked, loosing coolant. I took the car back to engines plus and the problem was diagnosed immediately. This issue was unrelated to the engine swap but the guys found a replacement reservoir the same day and got me in the road quickly. The repair was reasonably priced and the service was again excellent. I highly recommend Engines plus for the high quality of service and excellent work.

trust your instincts – prices are competitive compared with other replacement engine suppliers but price gouging on essential extras is obvious was charged $425 for new radiator more than double market was not new but old with new core. day after fitting old 8mm coolant hose put back on motor burst. Less than $4 worth could have destroyed motor. After less than 12 mnths… Read more

and 23k k's radiator started leaking. radiator removal and diagnosal was a stuffed cap($14) worth cost $214 (Eden radiator and exhaust). Assumed wrongly, I'm not a mechanic that a new radiator would come with a new radiator cap. Assumption is the mother of most stuff ups, but you are in their hands. Was told by engines plus bad luck. Not covered in warranty. I am a tradesman myself 45Yrs Fitter/machinist my complaint is incompetent and poor workmanship by employees that companies like these appear to be oblivious to.

nightmare – l had the worlds greatest nightmare experience with this company. l could go on for many pages of bad comments. the problems l have had with them could only be believed if lived through, it's been epic there are no words to describe the poor workmanship and lies and deceit that stretched out from a 1 week engine replacement into a 7 month disaster… Read more

which then went into a baton handover from them to another crook recommended by them which occurred immediately after they gave up and washed there hands of the disaster that ensued . My experience would make a great A Current Affairs story for ACA ch9, if i had the energy and faith in anything anymore i would purse this. l have lost more money than anyone would believe, the experience has certainly made me realize all said about shonky mechanics is so true. My experience with this organization has been nothing short of a horror story of biblical proportions. The worst was the excuses used and lies and blatant manipulation and coverups and self compensation by creating new problems as they go on to compensate themselves financially for their incompetence. They are masters of the buck passing method and will cleverly clean you out with the smoothness of the best con-artist. If you dont believe me now you will see exactly what i am talking about once you dare to use their service. Promises galore . l have really wanted to go and seek legal help but what a minefield that would be. They know the difficulty and expense it is for you the customer and they prey on that fact. This was the worst experience i have ever experience in the retail world. l have lost unbelievably hours of sleep and increased my chances of serious illness due to the incredible amount of stress i have endured. Its defiantly been a life changing experience. i was told it would cost $4000 which then grew to over $15k. I hope they see this review and decide to prosecute me because that would be a great opportunity for justice for me. Well just picked up the car and you guessed it for the third time upon leaving after returning the vehicle its being returned again, that's right three times i have picked it up and returned it within 10 minutes of picking it up and all i want know is my money back or consumer affairs will be notified i will see what comes of my request for my money back. this is the most remarkable experience i have had. They are taking me for ride.

BOUGHT A LOW KM IMPORTED USED ENGINE FOR MY 02 XTRAIL – I had Engines plus cheltenham replace the engine in my 02 nissan Xtrail in jan 2017 with a low km used engine from japan, Japan has stupid strict environmental policies requiring replacement of engines after just 2 years from new, bad for them good for us, the engine was still sparkly and barely proven before I bought it. Engines plus Cheltenham (Victoria): Standard service, Average price – (I believe there is more than premise called engines plus. I can only speak for my experience with the one in Cheltenham. Victoria Australia) I found engines plus Cheltenham to be fairly helpful. I had an engine replacement in a 1990 Toyota celica. They replaced the engine quickly, and did a reasonable job. The price was around average… Read more

compared to other engine places. They had the motor i needed in stock, And replaced with little headache on my side. They recognized problems unrelated to the engine replacement, and fixed them for a reasonable price. They fixed a problem (A leaking distributor) For free. a couple of weeks after the engine replacement. Even though the problem was probably unrelated to their own work.

UPDATE:

Subsequently since writing the review, the new engine has begun pinging, there was also a power problem not directly related to their work, however they should of easily identified it and they did not, nor did they assist with it.

Also, they damaged the dip stick tube. which was an easy fix when the motor was out. They did not spend the 10 minutes to do it. And now that the engine is in, its about a 3hr 10 minutes problem to fix. :( lil disappointed.

Terrible quality – I brought a reconditioned engine for my 99 tarago from engines plus and 3mths after installation it was leaking oil. I was told to take it into Brisbane to get it looked at and 4 days. Later the guy said he fixed it, apparently it was missing a bolt in the timing cover gasket. 6 months later leaking again onto the exhaust causing a terrible… Read more

smell, told to take it back to

Brisbane again only to be told it's the distributor o-ring, which is no where near the exhaust.

The guy said he fixed it but 1 week later still smelling burnt oil. Took it to my local mechanic

And he said it's the tappet cover gasket leaking, frustrated at driving 2hrs to Brisbane to have

it sit around for days I paid my mechanic to fix it. I was told when I brought this engine if I had any problems I could get my local guy to fix it under the 6 month free labour warranty, but

that was never the case.

Latest update motor now has either a cracked head or head gasket has let go. Wasn't overheated either, maybe block wasn't crack tested, car ready for the scrap heap, mechanic said $4g cheapest option motor out fixed and back in. 08/16.

Bad warranty service, poorly constructed.
