Bought a 2006 Nissan Murano Z50 nightmare – I purchased a 2nd hand Z50 Murano 2 years ago (2020) with 142,000km on the clock without consulting any review sites like this one. HUGE MISTAKE!!! Now at 183,00km, the CVT is on it's way out and the cost to repair is more than the car is worth. I have maintained the car as per owner manual recommendations including a CVT filter/fluid change at… Read more
157,000km in an effort to avoid CVT issues that plagues Murano owners but too late. My fault - should have done the homework first!

So pleased with my Nissan Murano si has power and drives so smoothly – Purchased a new Nissan Murano si and I'm very pleased with vehicle I will definitely be stocking to Nissan from now on can't even hear the engine running and has all the options of a more expensive car
One of the best cars I've ever driven – I bought a 2006 Ti in 2018. It had roughly 230,000kms on it when I bought it. It was used every day for commuting and every few weeks for off-roading (AWD with the 4WD lock.) Overall I put 10,000kms onto this car with nothing except a service and a cam shaft sensor. It was such a reliable car and its looks held up to the test of time, many… Read more
family members and friends thought it was a recent model car!
My only complaints would be fuel consumption and slight road noise, but both are definitely to be expected on an older V6. Overall it was nothing too bad and definitely worth it.
My true test was when I was rear ended by someone going 70km. They had to go to the hospital and their passenger was pretty hurt as well, but apart from a concussion I wasn't injured at all. The paramedics, insurance company, and tow yard all couldnt believe that I was unharmed. Nissan have won me over for life and I will always love the Murano.
Smooth luxurious SUV – This is my second Murano. I sold my 2009 when I moved interstate and always said I'd buy another if I had the opportunity. Bought a 2013 Ti with 135,000kms for $12,500. Has every luxury under the sun EXCEPT reverse sensors (my 2009 had sensors).. It's fine for the most part as it has a reverse camera but I do miss them at times. It drives… Read more
exceptionally well, CVT is super smooth but I do get worried about it potentially failing after reading some very disgruntled owner reviews about it - I only plan to keep it for a year or two due to CVT concerns given it's an older car but for the most part the Murano is an absolutely fantastic car.

Don't be stupid. It's been discontinued for a reason – CVT transmission. Do your research first. Unperfected transmission. Constantly failing. Costs approx 8-12 thousand to have it repaired. The cars damn ugly anyway so not sure why you'd further risk it. Hence being discontinued. Legit don't take my word, Google, Murano/Dualis CVT transmission issues. These cars are trash. Buy a Kia Sportage. Show details
Good looking and reliable car – Very good looking car, super comfortable and nice interior design. Very powerful engine. Didnt liked the CVT transmission, although it was super smooth with no troubles. The fuel consumption is relatively high for the its class. The leather quality is outstanding. The down side its that its front wheel drive (have part time 4wd) dont like the steering feel and handling. sometimes it feels like a hatch back front wheel drive. Show details
Should have traded it in early – Bought new 2005. It was a great car, I loved it. Comfortable, classy, great ride, great rear passenger room, good handling, but a bit thirsty. Car is mainly garaged during the week and only around 8-10,000km per year. Then the warantee expired. :( CVT packed it in and fitting second hand replacement cost over $6,000 (new CVT replacement… Read more
quoted more than double that price).
Brakes constantly squeak, esp when reversing - dealer says nothing can be done.
Steering high pressure hose has been replaced twice, over $500 each time. Allegedly a "common" problem.
Couldn't put car in reverse, an electronic interlock module needing replacement $435. Dealer took 2 weeks to find problem, tried to charge days of effort to find which I refused to pay - google search shows common problem with the car and not many places, and obvious places, to look to find the problem.
Getting more and more fuel thirsty.
At 80,000, very very road noisy. Both front seats now squeaking while driving.

On my 2nd Murano and I wouldn’t live without it – This is my second Murano. My first was a 2006 Z50 that was totalled in a crash, where the occupants of the other car were injured but I was not. I loved the Murano so much I had to get another. I have a 2009 Ti. It is amazing value for money. You get fully electric seats and steering wheel, that automatically recline backwards when you exit the… Read more
car and return to their saved position when you turn the ignition back on.
There is ambient lighting throughout the vehicle, leather trim, and the tailgate is fully electric. You are able to open it via the intelligent fob, a button near the steering wheel, or via the button on the tailgate. Closing it is just as easy.
There is a fantastic reverse camera that is angled downwards so you know EXACTLY how far you are from something behind you, no more guessing. And when you turn the steering wheel, the indicator lines on the camera also move to show you where you’ll go. Automatic headlights and windshield wipers further elevate this vehicle.
Getting in and out is comfortable and luxurious for a car of its age. It has intelligent entry, so you can leave the fob in your pocket, and push button start. The interior is quite good and holds up well to time. While not quite as modern as a brand new car it doesn’t look outdated by any means.
Dual climate control ensures you and your passenger ride in style, and the navigation system is easy to figure out and follow.
I have had no mechanical issues with this vehicle. It drives smoothly and is incredibly stylish. The improved 3.5l V6 is lighter on fuel than the previous Z50 and puts out more horsepower. Whether you’re on the motorway or just taking off from a suburban stop sign, the power is wonderful. The car is equipped with 4WD mode, which is fine for unpaved roads, but don’t expect it to do well on sand or climbing. The braking is decent for such a heavy vehicle but do expect it to be harder to stop than a small hatch.
I would recommend the Murano to anyone who wants the look and feel of a powerful 4WD while having the economy, style, and technology of a modern SUV.
Japanese quality with luxury and performance – Always serviced by Nissan, my Murano has been perfect with no problems. Travelled 135,000km and feels like it will go on for another 135,000km. I owned two other previous generation Muranos when I was living in North America and these were also excellent and trouble free vehicles. It is a very comfortable vehicle with a luxury feel. system is superb with it's music box, iPod connectivity and bluetooth audio. The cabin is quiet at all speeds. The suspension is a good compromise between comfort and handling. The SatNav is updated via annual DVD releases from third party sellers. I hope to keep driving this Murano for another 6 years.
Love! Big car without the sluggish feeling of a big car! – This is my daily driver and we love it! Have had our Nissan Murano for over 5 years now & am in agony that we can’t buy a new one! We have 2 tall teenagers and a five year old in a booster and they have plenty of shoulder and leg room. Plenty of boot space also! We recently hired a qashqai and were so shocked at how small they were in comparison to the Murano. We have not had any mechanical issues to date and get our car regularly serviced. Show details
My Second Murano - A great reliable vehicle with tons of Room. The CVT problem was solved over 10 ye – This is my second Murano , plenty of room , very well appointed and a very strong Engine. People refer to the CVT automatic problem , this was resolved by Nissan over 10 years ago .I'm on my second one and never had anything but perfect smooth operation from the gear box. The car is very reliable and has excellent passing on open highways and great for big families Show details
So roomy! – The driving is so great, I feel really safe in it and all my mirrors show everything. The sun roof makes it have such a great feel about it and the boot is great for all the shopping. The leather inside & heated seats are an added bonus. Definitely recommend for a family car. Show details

Absolutely heartbroken! – I had a lot of cars and came across Nissan Murano by true accident. Never looked back! Fantastic value for money. Phenomenal performance, great standard inclusions and most of all a very comfortable vehicle. With about 170000 km on the clock it is really difficult to pay 3 to 4 times more for similar qualities. Bargain of the century – 2005 TI 71000kms. Full leather, with every gadget you could need. Not a scratch on it. Love the car drives like it just come off the factor floor. Haven't used 4x4 yet. That will be interesting. Sunroof works well, no leaks. Stereo is a bit out dated but has great speakers Show details

miles and this car just eats them up without any fuss. Quiet cabin really allows me to enjoy the sensational Bose sound system which sounds incredible and commented on by my kinds whenever they are in it. Very sad to learn that Nissan won't be bringing the new model in. My lease runs out soon and I will need to replace the car but having a lot of trouble trying to find anything of similar quality, performance and comfort for the price.
don't trust Nissan CVT – I bought my Murano Ti brand new in 2011. Since then every service was done by nissan dealer. 5years and 100,000km later, 3 days after I paid $800 for 100,000km major service, CVT broke down. Towed to Nissan dealer, quoted $12,000 to replace it. Made a complaint to Nissan Australia, been told is out of warranty, nothing they can do. My advice to you, Don't buy a Nissan or get rid of it before warranty expires. Show details
Great car! – I bought this car a year ago as a bargain (5k under every other Murano (the guy who sold it didn't know how much it was worth). It has been a pleasure to drive. Changed the old stereo with a brand new dvd/cd/Bluetooth unit that looks great. They connected it up to the steering wheel controls. Sounds brilliant. My wife loves the car so much so begged for me to let her use it for her car. The kids love the sunroof and the leather seats are great for families. Plenty of room to go away on trips, as it still looks great.
My mechanic looked over the car and told me it was spot on. The only issue I have had is with some bushes in the front end. They were replaced easily. Don't bother going to Nissan for servicing, find a good local mechanic.
Great Suv . CVT is great – Had it for 5 years now. Great features and love the leather seats. CVT hater could be ford salesman still selling convential 4 gear auto. premium paint, no rust. solid corner braking. absolutely love it. good ground clearance. Service is not bad but avoid dealership service as it could be costly. Show details

washing my car after service, if the car is clean it's fine, which is not!, it's look like being hose with water and let dry on the site, leave water spot marks every where.
Every time I picked up my vehicle after service, I am not satisfied. My car is not being service, mechanic open the bonnet, connect the computer then cowboy wash and leave it on the site until I came to pick it up.
Now this Nissan is just another decoration in my lock up garage. Everyone complaining about the vehicle. I cannot sell it.
There is some issue with service department, when someone bring their Nissan for service it need to be service properly accordingly to the cost we paid.

All the trimmings for 15k less than the badge! – I love this car. It is my third Nissan car (after a Maxima and an X-Trail and my favourite so far). You get the full package without paying the price for overly expensive Japanese or European brands. Striking… Read more
design, like nothing on the road. I paid 45K for an ex demo, when you look at 60K+ for the competitors. I take my hat off to Nissan for offering such a wonderful 4WD that sets you apart from the crowd. Leather interiors, everything electric, enormous space for back seat passengers, integrated sat nav system, moon roof and power tailgate in the Ti model Only minus I can think is that while the engine is a powerful 3.5L, the car is heavy and it does take a couple of seconds to feel the full power of the engine. Once it kicks in, it is a beauty and feels wonderful.
Love love my Nissan Murano Ti – Bought our TI brand new at Xmas 2011, and just love it. Love the leather interior, panorama roof, electric boot, the stereo just pumps, love the quietness on the road, heaps of leg room, love the memory seats, stylish interior, and the look of the outside is up there with the Lexus. Look, feel, drive, stylish, stereo, so roomy for your legs, great boot size. Show details
Major fault with Murano Z51 Series 2 MY10 at 80,000kms – When my 2010 model Murano's went in for its 80,000 km service the dealer told my I had a leaking head gasket that would have to be replaced. the issue checked by another mechanic from another garage and they confirmed there was a problem. Thankfully I had paid for an extended warranty with an insurance company when I bought the car and the repairs were completed at no cost to me. But seriously, a car of this value with a leaking head gasket at 80K? To make matters worse I previously owned a Nissan 350Z (2009). It's synchro mesh between 1st and 2nd gear failed around 40,000 kms. That car was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the gear box but i waited more than 6 weeks for the parts to come from Japan - no major parts of this nature were held forward in Australia. In summary, two new Nissans since 2009 both with significant mechanical failures. Would I buy another Nissan? No way.

Never buy a Murano – I have now owned my second Nissan Murano Z51 in Ti trim for a little over two years, purchased brand new. the dealer couldn't find the fault. It was finally replaced after nearly two years. Last week the CVT gear box stopped working properly, after 2 years 2 months and nearly 78,000km. It's a warranty claim, but it took Nissan Australia over a week to just deliver a gearbox to the dealer, who is less than 20 km from Nissan HQ. Nissan Australia is arrogant, has poor customer serivice and I will get rid of my car ASAP, as I don't want to pay for any costly repairs after the warranty expired. Sorry Nissan, not good enough and you lost a customer (not that you care anyway)
2006 murano with a lot of issues – Bought a 2006 murano with 110,000 km. Power steering fluid leaked and got it fixed. Now done 140,000km Oil cooler hose started to leak , crack in the alternator fan, crack in cv joints, the gas out of the boot lid needed replacing and a few other things needed to be fixed. Car looks great and sporty but no power in cvt engine.

have 10year replacement warranties on there CVTs as they recognised there was an issue, Nissan Australia do not!! Owing plenty still on the car & no money to fix!
Not happy at all will be taking this further! Anyone out there in Australia with this issue!!?? Advice? Nice to start with due to the luxuries, although most cars have leather options & gadgets without the expensive drama CVT Issues! Loves the fuel, Key sensor works when it wants to, steering wheel can no longer be adjusted.

Change them over before 60k and have not had a spot of trouble with any of them. optional on other vehicles makes the Murano absolute value for money. Also, for its size, the Murano is not excessively thirsty when it comes to fuel economy (in my view). I can't wait to see the new model Murano which I believe will be released in late 2014. Eye-catching styling, quality, great engine and transmission (CVT), smoothness, quietness and a host of inclusions.
