Received an email about changes that need action by 17 June I spent nearly 4 hrs on hold (several calls) to be told that the product I bought (now told it was a perpetual licence with no annual fee) is being withdrawn and I need to now use a cloud service. MYOB told me this is OK as its software. The discounted cost for me with rise from NIL to $99 per month.

How is this legal?

Appreciate the question JDe. The move means MYOB AccountRight desktop app (PC edition) will only work with company files stored online. Offline mode will no longer be available, and from version 2026.5 (PC edition) you’ll no longer be able to open, edit or save files stored locally (in My Library or Network Library). You'll still be able to view offline backups in previous AccountRight versions for audit requirements The main thing to remember is that AccountRight desktop isn’t going anywhere. The only change is that your company file will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services. To help we've put together an overview of what’s changing and the practical advice around moving your file online: external link . Thanks ^MYOB

And you unilaterally cancel my paid perpetual licence. Then I cannot continue to use what I have but am force to use your online service at $33 per entity per month (a $1200 per annum increase) Not reasonable
