Follow-up 8mo · We have purchased a number of barrel Saunas over the years from SDS upgrading from smaller to larger models with bigger heaters. The saunas arrive in a large crate and are straight forward to assemble, though the skill and tools of a carpenter are required. The key is not to rush and to be methodical using the manual and video resources available. Having previously had a Harvia M3 heater, we upgraded to a Legend 150 with smoke pipe (200kg rock capacity) we also got two Legend rail guards and what a stunning looking set up this is. It heats our large 3m barrel to over 80C in a hour. (There is knack to building the fire with jenga style strips of wood allowing air flow and the fire lighter placed towards the top to speed up the draw). The Loyly achieved by this heater is so soft it’s almost like velvet. The best secret for Loyly is to get the sauna rocks properly heated so the water evaporates instantly. We use authentic Australian eucalyptus oils (Kochii from the wheatbelt of WA) this is the worlds most potent oil. If you invest the extra in a smoke pipe you’ll achieve even better Loyly. Wood heated saunas are not only the best for Loyly, they are a lot cheaper to run and way more sustainable. We use locally sourced plantation blue gum (not native forest hardwood) meaning that our emissions are only 17% of those of a comparable electric heater, so you can save money whilst massively reducing your carbon footprint.
