You're family and you want to show up, but you're not the one at the bedside, so flowers become the way you're there when you can't be in the room. Ordering in the morning and having them reach her in Newcastle a couple of hours later meant she had them while she was still in. Hospital stays can change day to day, so getting there quickly really helps.
