I have eating Helga's pumpkin seed and grain bread and Helga's wholemeal bread for years. I have noticed it is now very dry and falls apart easily. Am I imagining that the slices are smaller? I have changed my brand.

further. I was strangely excited to try Helga’s ‘New’ Grains & Seeds Sourdough offering - as my fave Pumpkin Seed & something (the one with the purple label) loaf was sold out. I love seeds. I love grains. And I mostly love Helga’s. However, I DON’T love the mealy mouth-feel of wholemeal breads.
This new grainy, seedy sourdough style sounded like it could be my new best friend in a late nightly ritual of peanut butter toast… and don’t hold the butter.
Not so! After my first bite, I had to question whether I’d not slathered on enough butter. Whether the toaster was set too high, the toast had cooled too long. Or if the lack of general humidity had impacted the result? No!!!! I was simply eating dust dry, technically wholemeal toast (it’s that grey-brown colour, y’all) with not a seed in sight! Pfffft. Obviously, it has lots of grains (is this really worth mentioning, I would ask the product managers?) because like many players in the world of bread, it’s made of mostly grains… wheat grains. Best for eating competitions, when you really want contestants’ salivary glands to be the first to tap out.
Feeling quite sour… doh!

large air bubbles thought it (I.e large holes) and it cannot be used to makes sandwiches so this is not an isolated incident. Plus we found the new recipe bread crumbles easily and falls apart. Very disappointing to be honest. Back to the other brand for us

side due to the presence of too much milled corn in the ingredients. There is a very real risk of striking hard bits and breaking teeth. Also the end slices are far too thick. Helga's could take some lessons from Woolworths on how to slice their breads right to the ends. Helga's leave a very thick, crusty heel slice both ends, which is often difficult to use, and often too hard to chew. I usually resort to blending it up and adding it to eggs or using it as stuffing. Sometimes it gets thrown out as it is just too hard. There would be an extra 4 or 5 slices in those thick "bookends" if they were sliced.
