Absolutely terrible product if you live in any part of Australia that gets any rain. Do not buy this if you are planning to put it outside. Their… Read more

warranty page now says that prolonged weather exposure is not covered, but that was not said when we bought ours in May of 2023. Not even the most meticulous paint job using excellent Dulux paint will help. The screws supplied are not suitable for external use and the rust will come through the paint. We noticed rot in some of the roof panel timbers and I complained to Hide & Seek, only to be told that I hadn't sealed it properly. What they mean by "sealing" is using an external silicone on every single joint so that moisture cannot get in. This was not stated prior to purchasing or on the assembly instructions. That is also completely impossible to do on the roof panels - I got the same response as other people on this forum when I complained. I then complained to the Queensland Office of Fair Trading thinking they would examine my concerns about the warranty - another complete waste of time. Think of that as a free mediation session. Hide & Seek offered to give me replacement boards for the rotten ones - disingenuous suggestion since there is no way to replace a couple of boards in the middle of a roof panel, which should be obvious to even the most inexperienced person. OFT served no purpose and even when I asked about reviewing the warranty, my question was ignored since they had completed "mediation" and therefore closed my complaint. Taking Hide & Seek to QCAT would not be a good use of time or money. Simply stay away from this product. They implicitly acknowledge that the untreated Chinese timber is unsuitable for Queensland, but it is our fault since failure is due to placing it outside. The rot is spreading and I have no idea what we will do. The cubby looked great when first installed - not so much now. Am I upset? Absolutely!

Please do not purchase this product (Children's outdoor mud kitchen) without reading the small print! – Purchased two outdoor mud kitchens from this company. Unfortunately I did not read the small print! Came completely unpainted, poor quality timber… Read more

(which split during construction). The whole mud kitchen has to be completed painted, Primed and then painted! as the timber is not suitable for outdoor use. Even with painting this type of timber, I have read further reviews that the outdoor timber used from this company is rubbish. The whole mud kitchen cannot be used outdoors and if it is it will need to be under cover away from sun. An absolute rip off at $316 (gst incl). Very very disappointing from an Australian Company. The first photo is what we thought we were purchasing. The other photos is what we received and you can see the poor quality of the timber as it kept splitting when putting together.

swinging, sandpit play etc My kids age between 4 and 10 and they all love playing on it. I even had the option of including a scallop edging on the roof which I adore because it makes the equipment look really pretty in my backyard.

Hide & Seek Kids Monkey Bars - Some things to know – I bought this Monkey Bar set for Christmas 2023, but it wasn't assembled until Aril 2024. The set was installed near Nowra which is not an extreme… Read more

weather location.

Be aware, you will very likely need to provide your own fixings/footings to the ground, AND you will need to treat the metal bars when they show rust (hoping that will do the trick).

ANCHORS/FOOTINGS - The fixings/anchors for the set are very flimsy and not suitable for supporting the wooden poles off the ground to prevent rot in the future. Do not go by the images on their website - your footings will not match. - You will definitely require more solid footings from the hardware store - so you will be looking at about another $100+ at least to cement in solid footings. Do your costings first. - The owner's manual (that came with the monkey bars) gave a wise instruction to have a minimum gap of 5mm between the ground and timber, to safeguard from the effects of moisture. So it seems the structure is meant to be off the ground. However, H&Seek stated in their email to me that the anchors provided were not suited to supporting the structure off the ground: "The anchors supplied with the Monkey Bars are of a generic style, primarily suitable for use on hard soil lawns. They are designed as anchors only and aren't intended to raise or support structures off the ground"

So, why do they provide unsuitable anchors that cannot comply with the instruction manual supplied: to ensure the equipment is off the ground min 5mm? Notice all the images they have of the equipment on the web have more solid footings.

RUST - Within 8 months, all the green metal joints on the monkey bars showed rust - probably coming from within the joint. It looks like the weld is not solid, and the gaps allow moisture. See pics. I tend to think the manufacturing design is poor - allowing gaps between the cross bar and long bar - which allows moisture. - I contacted H&Seek and they said: "I understand your concern regarding the rust you noticed on the joints of the cross bars. Please let me assure you that this is completely normal and common with outdoor metal equipment, especially in areas exposed to the elements. What you’re seeing is likely surface rust, which doesn’t compromise the structural integrity of the set. To address this, I recommend using a product like Rust-Oleum® Rust Reformer, available at Bunnings. It’s a simple spray application that will seal the surface and prevent further rust development, keeping your set looking great and protected for years to come."

I think the monkey bar set, painted green, looks great in the garden, amongst the trees. We wanted to buy Australian too. However, I am disappointed with the information given and excuses after. They are not phased about rust - it's normal - but this is probably not what any customer would expect within the first year. My question to them is why did they not treat and seal the metal joints during manufacture, to prevent rust? Especially when it is an easy procedure. I am not confident in their assurances.

The reason I gave a BAD experience is I found H&S more interested in making excuses than dealing with the issues and improving for future customers. Their advice was inconsistent with the product supplied. I was disappointed bc it was a present from us (grandparents) to our grandkids. It caused a lot of hassle for me, my daughter (mum) and friends who helped install then rectify the job.

The 2 issues I had are easy issues to remedy and to ensure a better quality product and experience for customers - if H&Seek want to take it on board.

See the screen grab of Hide & Seek's response... Apparently what I'm experiencing is what nearly all will. So you are now informed.

I absolutely hate this bed and do not recommend it. For one, pictures online of the bed show it not on the floor, yet it comes as a floor bed.… Read more

Additionally, it doesn’t have a headboard which is absolutely ridiculous for a bed, let alone a kids bed. Further, hide and seek do not have an email on their website, you have to “chat online” with them. This assumes you have time to waste. If I could get a full refund for this bed I would remove this review.
