This company is an absolute scam stay clear by all means. Ordered a cat enclosure from them. Upon opening and putting the product together I have had… Read more

issue after issue. Product pieces damaged and continuing to damage while trying to put together, wood not explained properly on website so it’s not even a sturdy wood and is a cheap flimsy wood that literally just breaks and chips apart continuously, latches not even meeting properly, doors not shutting properly, windows scratched, doesn’t sit properly and wobbles even after putting sturdy bricks the whole way underneath to keep it stable, nothing connects properly, measurements incorrect, product supposed to be painted with something to protect it (they don’t tell you what) and it definitely is not, my partner is a painter and it definitely does not have anything on the wood. Got in contact with the company with photos proof and they tried to tell me I was wrong and said it is ‘within their accepted quality standards’. Please explain to me how a damaged product that doesn’t even close properly nor stand properly and isn’t as explained on the website, is quality standards? They then proceeded to tell me I could return it but I’d have to pay shipping, mind you the product was over $1000 and shipping originally to get it here was $333. This company is absolutely disgusting and not only are the products horrible, the customer service isn’t any better, offered no help to rectify the damaged products or offer a refund of any kind. And not to mention they gave me a free cat scratcher, which not surprisingly has completely broken within 3 days of use, no wonder why it was free. Stay away from this company if you’re wanting a safe outdoor enclosure for your cats, because these aren’t even safe enough to protect your cats in and you will end up having to throw it away and pay money to buy from somewhere else.

Very happy with this coop which we have placed inside the Castle Run, also purchased from Somerzby. Delivery was quick and it was easy to put together. I added wallpaper to help with keeping it clean.

Tri-Level Rabbit Hutch – Quality of the materials is bad. The design and idea of this item is good but it is made with really poor quality timber and certainly not worth… Read more

$390. The floor boards were already warped out of the packaging. This item would not last outside unless under cover as the timber would rot quickly.

Not fit for purpose – The chicken coop DNA is well embedded in this so called 'cat house'. It is not strong enough to accommodate a cat, let alone 1 to 4 cats as stated in… Read more

their ad. This is just one part of the misleading advertising. The second is that it is shown to stand out doors and this is where we'd expect our cats to be: in an enclosure outdoors, and protected from weather. The implication is that it is a structure built to withstand the weather. It is not.

Without further work, this structure is not fit fur purpose, unless you plan to erect it under cover and standing on a platform to ensure it is not exposed to any water.

I will detail the deficiencies of this structure. Included are photos to demonstrate.

1. No part of the structure is suitable for the outdoors. a. Most of the joints between the panelling of the house have large gaps - rain will penetrate without trouble. Refer to attached photos. Your cats will get wet and even if you use it as a chicken coop, your hens will get wet after the first shower. No need for the cute windows, because the whole house structure is full of gaps and not wind proof, so air flow is assured at all times. Since I plan to have this house and enclosure stand outside, I used four tubes of Sika flexible gap filler to limit water ingress. I filled all the joints between the panelling and the windows. The rear opening door has 5 mm or wider gaps which is totally ridiculous. It will allow easy entry of water. I will have to modify this with a rubber seal to stop water and air from coming in.

b. The wood is bare and will need to be painted with exterior paint to protect it and ensure that it lasts longer than a few months exposed to the weather. Priming and two coats of suitable exterior paint must be applied to all exposed wood.

c. The whole structure will need to be secured and sit on top of a raised platform to keep the wood off the ground or rot will set in very quickly.

2. The interior three levels are extremely flimsy. The wood planks are about 10 mm thick and bend under very light loads. This is where the chicken coop DNA is evident. The shelves are strong enough to support many hens, maybe one cat but two cats on the same level will surely result breaking of the shelf. I had to reinforce each shelf with extra supports under the planks and vertical supports to each shelf to stop them from flexing down. See photos.

In conclusion, this is not a finished product. Fine if you plan to use it as a chicken coop under cover and out of the wind and rain. But totally unsuitable for the outdoors for any purpose, hens or cats, without extra work to make it wind and water proof and withstand the rigours of an out doors structure. You will need to seal the gaps, apply two to three coats of exterior paint, reinforce the shelves and secure it to a platform to keep it off the ground. It's a product that needs to be made fit for purpose whatever pet you plan to keep within it. If you are not handy with tools, painting, woodworking, then this is not for you. Beware because these facts are not disclosed in the advertisement. It should be stated that this is a raw product that will need to have all gaps sealed, all wood painted and shelves reinforced.

I purchased this for my 2 British Bulldogs, whilst there is enough room in each kennel for them, I’m disappointed with the quality of the wood,… Read more

especially the verandah and grey fence trim, it’s very flimsy and a soft wood. The structure of it is poor, and the timber on the dog house really isn’t that much better. For the price I paid I expected better quality. The roof however is great, and waterproof. , my 2 English Bulldogs weigh 25 and 27kg so just over 50kg combined weight, and the porch is not firm enough that I am comfortable to let them both walk on it together to get to their kennels. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with a large dog Especially the porch, It’s a shame because I was so excited to put it together for my dogs, and now I wish I’d not purchased it at all..

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. MINUS 5 STARS – After much research on buying a chicken coop I decided to go with Somerzby because it was a physical warehouse and I figured it would just be easier.… Read more

Big mistake.

The product is the chattiest low quality product. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed. It doesn’t go together cleanly ad don’t get me started on the instructions. You get crappy pictures only, not a word on how to do it. The pictures are so basic but blurred so you need to be engineer to figure out what the actual hell you are meant to be doing. A couple of times I had to undo a previous step because something needed to be done before that step WHICH THEY DIDNT TELL YOU UNTIL THE STEP AFTER!!!! I had to drill new holes because the nesting box wouldn’t attach cause it was so far away from where it was supposed to fit the screws wouldn’t attach. An absolute debacle and shxxshow. One of the clear windows has a chatty piece of crappy clouded plastic in it. THE WORST CRAP. It looks cute and I think that’s selling point. The company is definitely spending all the money on the office and look of the company instead of having a quality product made. I bought this after using a Bunnings pinnacle animal enclosure as an interim house and this thing is made of paper compared to that. I hope someone reads this and doesn’t buy it. ITS A FLIMSY PIECE OF RUBBISH AND NOT WORTH THE 330. complete disappointment. I haven’t had a chance to put the dog house together but I can already feel how flimsy it is. Please don’t buy from them unless you want to flush your cash down the toilet.

So happy with my purchase. Looks amazing and was easy to assemble. Parts were labelled and instructions were easy to follow. Also bought the mansion coop to go inside of the Castle run.

Before purchasing, I phoned Somerzby and asked about all the bad reviews, I was told those people moved the coops after having installed them or… Read more

installed them on the ground where the coops could rot. I also asked about their warranty. I was told there is an Australian Consumer Warranty. I explained that that warranty leaves them open to claims 2 years down the track if need be.

I then decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as I’d been dreaming of buying the Estate Chicken Coop for 2 years, I bought it online. I phoned and asked them to delay despatching the coop until the Monday due to bad weather approaching and me not wanting the coop to sit in the boxes in the rain. The employee agreed and happily set that in motion.

A few hours later I receive an email cancelling my order and was told that they will not accept any further orders from me. No explanation at all. I phoned them, emailed them etc… They just ghosted me from that point.

I was mad as I’ve been working toward buying that particular coop for 2 years.

To be honest, upon reflection, I think I dodged a bullet though judging by the further reviews I’ve read. I ended up buying a larger, better value coop from MyChickenCoop.com.au and whose reviews were brilliant.
