Consistent and durable – I have had these scales over 5 years and they have continued to perform well. Readings consistent with medical scales and body fat and hydration readings shown also. They are quick to set up and show readings quickly also.

5 year lifespan – This unit worked fantastic for just under 6 years. Really great. Loved it! Then I get an error message. Only ever had that msg if we stepped on… Read more

scales too soon. Changed batteries, no change. Emailed company. Because they are over five years old, warranty period, they can’t be replaced. I can get them recalibrated for $150 though. I think I have to pay shipping to and from Western Australia, too. Very disappointed that such an expensive item only has a 5 year warranty. Other reviews I have seen elsewhere have stated the 5 year and a bit lifespan

nilly. I then realised they were using digital scales.

I was fortunate enough to have enough Flybuys points to be able to redeem this scale.

The scale is small 19 cm x 17 cm (approximately), light and easy to use. It can give weights in imperial or metric. I bake bread each week and it is so easy now to add the ingredients and zero then keep adding and zeroing.

I used to avoid recipes which did not give cup and spoon measurements or just convert them myself as weighing out small amounts of grams was so hard on the old type of scale. Not any more! My husband also uses the scale to weigh out dry pasta when he is cooking it and this is much more effective than just judging by 'eye'.

One of the best new things in the kitchen! Small. light, readout easy to read without putting glasses on. Nothing so far.

help was wonderful when I had a little hick-up with my scales, they politely made a couple of suggestions and were only too happy to help. I won't go into details but can say with confidence that I would not hesitate to recommend these scales and this company.

Be sure to get the BC-401 model! Not the 402 – I really, really like these scales. They are a little exxy, but it's worth paying that bit more for quality design and product, that you can be… Read more

confident will go the distance.

I was always going to buy Tanita as my experience with them has been great - my old scales are still going strong after 20 years - but I wanted to upgrade to the body composition scales.

I mean, I don't like what they tell me! But I cannot fault the scales themselves, or the app they pair with.

The scales are accurate, consistent, and so easy to use.

The app they pair with, "My Tanita", has appropriate privacy settings, and is super easy to set up and use. You can add multiple users, adults have the full suite of measurements. Children's accounts have a pared back data set, which I think is appropriate.

You don't have to use them with the app, but you don't get the full benefit of all the features if you don't.

The 402 model looks the same, but pairs with a different app, "Heath Planet" that is pretty awful, isn't intended for the Australian market and the privacy settings are just terrible. Get the 401s.

It has to be noted that the service has been outstanding, Boba at Tanita's head office went out of her way to make sure I was completely happy with my purchase, and I am.

Good set of scales – I have owned this set of scales for at least 4 years, and overall I am satisfied with the product. It can take up to 2kg of weight. It has a large… Read more

display screen and is easy to clean. It has a tare weight button, which allows you to place an item on the scales and reset to 0.

This product does what it is supposed to do, it weighs food for me in the kitchen. It is small, lightwight and easy to store. For the most part, it has been reliable. There was a time shortly after I got it that it stopped working and would only show an error message. I contacted Tanita, they had me send the item to them, and returned it fixed within a couple of weeks with no cost to me. They were great to deal with and I have not had any problems with the scales since. This impressed me, as normally when an item like this breaks, it is tossed and you're expected to buy a new one.

Obviously, the fact that they did have a problem with them that needed to be fixed is the only issue I have. However, that was sorted out to my satisfaction.

passes customers on to Tanita Australia. From there, the process became frustrating and outdated. I was asked to send multiple photos and videos just to prove that a brand‑new scale had a broken button. I called several times for updates and was spoken to rudely, even though I was told to call in the first place. After more than a week, I still have no update on a replacement. Everything is handled through slow email chains, and the whole process feels inefficient and customer‑unfriendly.

WestOz came back and offered to replace my BCM.
