useful for being about to visually see how good (or bad) the air quality is and cooking smells (e.g from curry or.. burning something) will be cleared from the living areas within minutes, instead of lingering for days.
The machine has removable filters - I've owned mine for several years and have only had to regularly clean the dust filter and air quality sensor so I'm guessing the air quality within my home isn't so bad to need to replace the carbon or HEPA filters. I live on a main road facing traffic (although shielded by trees/shrubs, from a distance) so there is quite a bit of dust that comes into my home.

buying a “smart” air purifier. Dealing with Philips customer service was incredibly frustrating—emails were ignored, and when I called, they showed no interest in listening or actually helping to resolve the issue. There was zero ownership or urgency from their side. In contrast, Amazon handled the situation professionally and efficiently and arranged a replacement without the runaround. Great product hardware, but the app and customer support are a major letdown. Without Amazon stepping in, this would have been a complete disappointment.

detects deterioration in air quality. This usually happens when we are cooking, because our range hood is pretty ineffective. It is efficient in removing cooking smells from the room and then turns itself down again. We are happy with it. Filters seem long lasting and we have not needed to replace filter in first 6 months.

and back on again, it shows a lower readout. When comparing this model to another Philips model I have, this one sometimes shows very high readings, while the other shows low readings. - filters are expensive - I replaced the filter and doesn't seem to be able to reset the unit to 0% (filter usage) Stuck at 52%

silent, if not extremely quiet, the size and appearance is sleek and magnificent and it really does an amazing job and clearing and keeping the air clean. Even my husband noticed the change of the quality of air after only about 10 minutes. And, that is a big compliment coming from him. The Bluetooth is so handy to have paired with my phone. For reference, I have it in the main bedroom as our dog sleeps in the room (not on the bed) since rescuing her in 2021. I originally bought a Digitech air purifier for that reason as she is the first pet I've had to sleep in same room.

We started with 1 unit, just to test, put in bedroom, and see. We opted for a smarter device, so you can see stats, but also one that was quiet, being in bedroom. What drew us to Phillips was their experience in air filters and this model has a 3 year filter life, something you need to factor into price. I saw lower grade small units, $100, and the filters were $50, same issue with printers these days. Or online cheap filters and who knows if they really are HEPA grade.
Unit price fluctuates so don't pay more than $299 on sale and if you miss the sale, msg JB and ask to honor it, they will or someone else will be selling it for this. We chose the Silver White, it blends in grey with our rooms.
Has it improved air quality? - We believe so and bought a 2nd unit. Time will tell in Winter, if we get sick less. - We have noticed less pet dander also. - We have not fully tested this in places like near cat litter to see if it removes this smell, post reno we will get a smaller unit for laundry. - Unit in main living sits aside kitchen and when cooking its detects and goes into max mode, top of the unit has light indicators to show air quality, if anything shows the extraction fan is useless, maybe they should build filters into those ;)
Pros: - 3 year filter lifecycle >> HEPA & Active Carbon filter - sensor and reminders to clean filter (vac) - night lights on top can be used in kids bedrooms, or turn them off - plenty of schedule options, or just put it into Auto mode. - in default mode its super quiet - easy to connect to Wi-Fi, so many cheaper smart IoT devices are hard to connect these days. - child lock features, all features on device or app
Cons: - unless on sale, prices are a tad high, might not be con but replacement filters are about $100 but they do last 3 years. - it me nice to be able to set timers for the built in light, an idea would be a sensor that can detect motion and make it into a night light.
Some may say these are a waste of money, but Ive looked and inside air quality can be worse than outside by 2-5 times, it may take a good 1-2 years of use to see if less dust inside, or less illness, but at a minimum its a small peace of mind to have.

you have a dedicated 2.4ghz wifi network not a mixed 5 and 2.4ghz like a google nest wifi. Once it is connected it is easy to control via the Phillips app or via your google nest hub. There are some limitations with the google nest hub and only some of the settings can be changed. It is quite and you wont even notice its one if its in your bedroom. The filters are a little more expensive then I was expecting but I should have researched that before buying it I guess. Overall would recommend and has made a massive difference for my wife who suffers allergies for air pollutants and dust.

Poor at detecting pollutants, won't stay connected – This is a regretful purchase, and no surprise the product is discontinued. I bought this to replace and combine a previous (industry-leading 'W'… Read more
brand) air purifier and fan in my bedroom, having a Philips 3000i unit in my lounge room.
First, it is poor at detecting pollutants compared to the unit I replaced it with. Previously a release of 'wind' or the airing of clothes and bedding would rightly trigger the old unit, whereas this model just chuggs along as if nothing has happened. There has only been a few times it has ever reacted to anything. In fact, the sensing detector on my 3000i model is a small square chamber behind the back panel that is recommended to be cleaned along with the regular maintenance of the unit, however this model doesn't have one, so how can it be maintained let alone have adequate access to check the air in the room if it is hidden somewhere? When I do the required regular maintenance of vacuuming the filter, there is dust on it so that's a sign that it is doing something, but it isn't doing it well.
Secondly, it never stays connected to my WiFi. Yes everything is updated and 2.5 GHz is available to it. The unit has been restarted multiple times, as has the app been force-closed, restarted and reinstalled multiple times, in fact on two different phones. A modern technology company with interests in health should be far better than this when it comes to app development and reliability in 2024 (their HomeID app for airfryers, blenders and coffee machines is woeful too). Lucky it comes with a remote control, I guess ... or is that the reason why?
Also of note, the screen is rather bright at night and casts a blue arc-shaped glow across the ceiling, rotating slowly as the unit does, whilst the sleep mode only activates if you press the mode button on the remote control (again, give up and don't bother trying to use the app), and it doesn't deactivate once night time is over. Not very smart for "our smartest" purifier model. The speed of oscillations slow and can't be adjusted nor halted, however the degree the unit rotates around is adjustable ... however once again you need to use the app that it doesn't stay connected to.
Finally, a small point, I purchased a small stool to raise the unit up so the reach of the air coming out of the unit would improve across the room.
Very disappointed.
