I purchased the Philips Azur Elite Steam Iron on 22/04/2022, expecting a high-quality, long-lasting product from a well-known brand. Unfortunately,… Read more

it did not meet expectations. I only used it once a week for normal household ironing, yet it developed problems very quickly and eventually stopped working properly.

The steam output became inconsistent, and the overall build quality feels poor for a product marketed as premium. To make matters worse, the customer service has been terrible. I tried contacting Philips online and by phone — waited over an hour with no response — and also sent an email with no reply. This is completely unacceptable.

For the price paid, this iron is not worth it. Cheaper irons from stores like Kmart last just as long, sometimes even longer.

Very disappointing product and even worse customer service. I will not be buying Philips again.

s5000 Steam Iron I would have to Recommend this product without any doubts. Outstanding performance Very pleased and Great Value for money. I Iron all my work shirts every week for the entire working week and I’m happy with the end results. The only negative fault is checking the Water level having the plastic be so dark which it isn’t-really that hard to do so anyway. Highly recommended

The perfect iron – Searched for a replacement iron and after much research found this one. It's exactly what you want in a steam iron. Plenty of steam & easy to use, not too heavy. You can't go wrong with this one.

being black & size as not too big or heavy. I must admit at first I did not like it very much as I'm used to being able to prop my iron upright while using it and due to the shape of the back of this iron this is not possible however I finally realised that due to the high quality it you can rest on your ironboard & it doesn't burn! I was far too scared to try it at first but after several months of not being able to prop it up I finally tried and wish I had sooner as makes life much easier!

This is the best invention by far! An iron that you can leave on your board without burning it or damaging it.

The 1.8l water tub is the perfect size without needing to top up while ironing.

The iron is light & compact and makes ironing easy and very quick due to the power of the steamer

couldn't believe how effortless it was using this with our dresses hanging on a hanger and every little crease being obliterated in no time, and the fabrics were satin for her long bridesmaid's dress and chiffon over my lace dress. So she took it to steam the other bridesmaids' dresses too. Totally amazed, and we highly recommend this product. Now I'm back home, and I'm off to buy one for myself. It's on special at the moment at Big W.

I originally upgraded from a Tefal steam generator (which I loved) to the Philips 6000 series (which I hated so much I returned). After more… Read more

research, I decided to give Philips one more chance, this time with the 7000 series.

The 7300/20 fixed every issue I had with the 6000 series: 1. The motion-activated steam can be disabled so you have full manual control (ie squeeze the trigger) 2. The unit holds the iron at an angle - not horizontal like the 6000 series - this is sooo much more ergonomic. It's much easier to put the iron back in the holder without having to 'lift it up' to put it on the higher horizonal platform of the 6000 series. 3. The steam is much more powerful - both in normal use and when using the boost. 4. The actual iron is very light weight. The Tefal iron weighed a lot more and I didn't have an issue with it, but now that I've used the much lighter Philips, I'm much appreciating the less wrist strain.

One minor criticism of the 7300/20: Whilst the 7300/20 holds the iron at an angle on the main unit (like pretty much every steam generator on the market), it's a little finicky to sit correctly. There is a lip on the iron itself that has to 'catch' the lip on the main unit. If you don't place the iron correctly on the main unit, the iron can fall off the holder! This sounds like a very nit-picky criticism - but it gets annoying after a while. I'm used to zoning out watching TV whilst ironing, but I find that every time I put the iron on the holder whilst re-positioning clothing on the ironing board, I'm having to mentally focus on sitting it correctly.

But that one criticism aside, I'm very happy with the 7300/20! It's a marked upgrade from the 6000 series.

Edit: After using this for a month, I've taken one star off. The minor criticism I mentioned at the end of my review has resulted in my iron (the handheld bit) sliding off the base station and crashing to the floor three times in the past month. I now consider this a design flaw - and one that is potentially dangerous.

(cost $170). It performs well as far as steam goes and actual ironing. pretty much like my previous model. However, the overall quality is much lower. The plastics are light. The colour hideous. And there is essentially no storage for the cords. I chose it as on paper it was almost identical to my previous model and I think often, simpler is best. I don't need a lot of steam and lots of features. Overall its very good at ironing, I just wish it was better quality but it is priced at the lower end so maybe its not fair to expect that. I wish I could have repaired my previous one for the same price or less. I doubt it.

Fatal Flaw – I bought the Philips GC4552 because I'd been happy with my previous Philips purchase, a GC4412. The issue with the new one is the length of the… Read more

power cord - a whopping 1.1 meters has been lopped off the length of my previous iron's cord, down from 2.9m to 1.8m. This makes it difficult to use in my environment. It's disappointing that Philips have done this clearly as a cost saving measure - they've saved/made a dollar, but I've wasted money on what is a very good, but (for me) essentially unusable iron. Lesson learned - I will check the cord length in future but Philips will no longer be on my shopping list, for this or any other product.

Avoid this iron if you live in cold climate – I bought this iron from Amazon in December 2022. It is working perfectly fine until it meets Melbourne's winter temperature. The unit suddenly… Read more

stopped heating up even though it has been plugged for more than 15 minutes. I contacted Philips customer care and we did some troubleshooting which involves putting the iron on its plate on top of hot towel for 3-5 minutes to warm up the plate. Apparently, the iron has been designed to shut itself off and not heating up if the plate's temperature gets below 20oC. Now if you live in Victoria or other southern states in Australia, you know that temperature inside our homes can get below 20oC anytime during winter. I have raised this design flaw concern with Philips customer service (not based in Australia), and they promised to get back to me on this issue again soon. For the time being, it looks like have to manually warm up the iron before it can warm itself up. What an inconvenient it is. This is a design flaw by Philips and they don't advise anything on this limitation in the manual or on the box of the product. I'm thinking to go to ACCC with this if Philips does not do anything to fix this issue. I'm sure I won't be the only one that has this issue. Philips, you need to be responsible for this issue!
