Honeywell Appliances
Does nothing – We live in South Australia. It does nothing at all in our conditions. We end up just using our $50 fan, as it does the same job, but a lot quieter Show details
Not durable – Ok I am updating my previous review on this cooler. While they work they are great. Unfortunately I have had 2 units fail in just over 4 years. Now… Read more
at around 700 bucks each that is not good. I now have 2 useless huge piles of plastic I cannot repair. The fan bearings went in the last one; The pump and also the speed control failed in the first one. I will certainly never get one of these again as they basically cost 350 bucks a year just to own. Once again they work well but fail quickly. Very sad that some better components are not used and also repair is basically impossible. Not designed for extended usage.
Glorified fan – Really we can’t tell a significant difference between cool and fan mode. Easy to operate, seems well built . What else to say in thirty words. Five four three two one. Show details
Far from as good as I expected – I purchased one of these CL40PM Honeywell units and was impressed by the data on the box. My intention for this unit was to cool my dogs that are… Read more
outside dogs. They have a nice covered outside area with a large pergola with a kennel as well but when the temperatures reaches 35 to 45 it needs more than a cover to cool the area down. I would enclose an area of aprox 10m2 under the pergola and use this unit too cool it down. It works reasonably well if left on full speed (setting 3) but after just 2 years and a bit the motor failed. (2 years warranty). I only use it on hot days so maybe 10 to 20 days a year and after use I drain it and clean it. It is then stored indoors. Unit looks like brand new but as I said the fan motor died during our last extreme heat wave here in Adelaide. I have never had a unit before were the motor has failed so that was a bit of a disappointment. To make it even worse, I have had no success finding spare parts in Australia. US sells motors for around $69US but by the time you get it shipped to Australia, if you can get them to ship it, the replacement cost is not worth it. From my experience I would recommend looking elsewhere as it is not a cheap unit and the last thing I expected to fail on it was the fan motor. It's an evaporative unit so it should be able to cope with water and heat. At the time I bought it they where on special for around $460 down from $599. It has a 40l tank and hose attachment which was perfect for my needs but I do need a spinning fan as well.
Astonishingly good! – Purchased 2nd hand to cool down my hot bedroom (approx 16m2). Powerful fan with 4 settings, reasonably quiet on the lower settings. Sleep mode,… Read more
"cyclone" mode (think really high fan!), timer etc. What surprised me was the cooling- very effective, drops the temp 6-8 degrees. Exactly what I needed to get a decent night's sleep.
Just remember it is an evap cooler, not refrigerated air con!
