for two fires the mess "bakes on" and takes 3 or 4 minutes to clean. More than 3 or 4 fires, and it's hard work. Also makes a big difference if I'm burning cheap (sooty) softwood pellets or good hardwood ones. For regular maintenance I recommend this cleaner, but if you only clean intermittently - get something else.

applicator (sold separately and very expensive for a piece of common sponge). I have found careful application of oven cleaner works instantly and does a good job.

Bunnings, thinking it would remove the brown creosote stains that develop over time. If you look at the attached picture, you will see the brown stains AFTER using Scandia. Then I used my normal cleaning product, Stove Bright Glass Cleaner (available at some hardware stores and stores that sell fireplaces), and you can see the clear areas from which the creosote has been removed. The price of the two products is comparable, so don’t waste your money on the Scandia.
