Good on paper. Poor in use – On paper the VTech 17550 appears good, especially the functionality where it connects with mobile phone by Bluetooth. In use, the speaker in the… Read more

handset is very poor quality which makes it difficult to hear when using it. This is old technology so it really should be better quality.

While the phone book in the phone has picked up the contacts from my iPhone, the results are pretty random.

It's odd that the phone doesn't allow the name of the handset to be changed. Odd because this is old technology and that functionality has existed for a long time.

If I was fully reliant on this phone I would return it but as it is only a backup to my mobile, I'll keep. It only cost $34 and you get what you pay for!

Horrid phone – Useless phone with only 6 rings until the answering machine cuts in. The range is appalling for the second hand set. Support from their Australian… Read more

office is non existent, I have sent 15 e-mails with only auto-replies so far.

This phone should not be on the market and totally avoided.

Slightly Disappointing Phone – Purchased the Vtech CareLine DECT6.0 Cordless Phone with VSMART as well as the Vtech PHOTO CORDLESS HANDSET (also reviewed) and have to say they were… Read more

not as good as I was hoping. Have had for less than a year and one of the two handsets had to be replaced as 3 of buttons stopped responding when pressed, Vtech however did replace in quick time. Sound quality is ok but loud Speaker is needed for the elderly person it was intended for. Often when you call out the call has started as it shows the elapsed time but it has not connected.....this happens a lot and you have to hang up and redial. The large buttons are helpful but often do not respond when pressed so it has to be a very deliberate press of the finger. The large Quick Dial buttons are useful and do work well, so you can have 4 preset at any time with accomodation for a photo if needed. Message machine works well but does not have a beep sound when you have an unanswered message, just a small intermittent light. This phone is recommended for the elderly and hard of hearing but I think it falls down on a few basic requirements if that is the target market. I would probably look elsewhere if I needed to replace.

The Mother of all Instruction Manuals – We were looking for the most basic of Cordless phones for our Home. Nothing fancy, no exotic features and when we saw this phone at $20 it looked… Read more

like it would be perfect! It even says on the box… “Perfect for simple communication. Easy to use handset.” A more misleading description would be hard to imagine! This phone has 20 letter size pages of instructions and settings! Yes 20! One in fact for each dollar of the cost! So far we have managed to connect the two phones we bought to their Base Station. We have been unable to set the Time or Date. We have been unable to adjust the volume. The one call we have received, we were unable to get to because the Phone Screen asked “SCREENING?” So far we have been unable to locate screening in the 20 pages! Would we recommend this product? No, but if you buy one and get it working perhaps you can ring me? Oh… wait…you haven’t been “Screened”!
