Coopers does not make Birrell anymore. It dumped the recipe a year ago. The ultra light that replaced it is called Coopers Ultra Light., though some… Read more

pics in ads still show it as Birrell. It is dishwater now. It is mass produced water flavored with very bitter hops, not brewed anymore. The malty brew taste is not there. Don't waste your money.. It has gone from a really pleasant low alcohol beer to tasting really bitter and nasty.

See,

"Coopers Ultra Light: This product has taken the place of the former Birrell Ultra Light and is available in bottle shops and supermarkets. Coopers Zero: This is a brand new, fully non-alcoholic beer (0.0% ABV) that was launched to meet the growing demand for non-alcoholic options, and it is the first non-alcoholic beer released under the main Coopers roundel branding. The change in branding was part of a strategy to bring consistency to the product line and position the non-alcoholic options more clearly within the main Coopers portfolio."

I would add that the quote is just marketing trash. It was cheaper to flavour water with very bitter hops, then carbonate it, than brewing. Note, the word 'beer' does not appear anywhere on the package or bottles. This happens because Australian companies cannot sell a product as beer if it is not brewed. Coopers tells lies - it is not brewed!

There is an exception to this law. Ginger Beer can be named beer if it is just ginger flavored soda, which most of it is. It must be marketed and sold as 'Genger Beer', not 'Beer'.

Was once the best value light beer – Cascade Premium Light was originally "Traditionally Brewed", this is/was written on the can or bottle. In the last 12 months (2020/2021) they have… Read more

introduced a Slow Brewed version, this is also written on the bottle. While the bottles & cans are similar in appearance (slightly different shade of colour), the flavour is not. The Slow Brewed is what my 1 Star rating relates to. I would rate the Traditionally Brewed 4 Stars. Traditionally Brewed is a much better flavoured beer in my opinion. Another difference is that Traditionally Brewed is 2.6% ABV while Slow Brewed is 2.4% ABV. If you can find Traditionally Brewed Cascade Light it's worth buying but I doubt there's any left. Cascade was bought out by CUB a company that has decided it knows how to produce a better beer. They failed when they changed Traditional to Slow Brewed & they displayed deceit by changing the Cascade Light Traditionally Brewed to Slow Brewed surreptitiously.

Great tasting light beer – Very good brew , use to drink Hann premium light untill they stuffed it up. Looked at the reviews for James Boags which were great. Didnt regret buying a carton of this light beer, very refreshing. Show details

I've tried a lot of ultra low beers now, looking for one that actually tasted like beer and was hoppy. Finally this is the one! $24 for a 16 pack. It has the mouth feel of real beer at an unbelievably reasonable price.

The beige of beers – This pale ale is drab, considering the hype of the company and the cost of the product it's just not worth buying. Hardly hazy. And flavour wise it is nothing to get excited about. Avoid.
