Purchased the EGO 56v 470mm (18.5”) self-propelled electric mower and 5.0ah battery. So far from first use very satisfied with cut quality and the… Read more

product overall. Cheaper would have been nice though at $999.

Has equal power to my existing petrol Victa mulch mower which was good but sucks at mulching and is heavy, noise, stinky, etc.

Battery lasts for our whole yard which is around 250sqm of grass area and is quite steep in parts.

When the self propelled feature is in use it definitely eats battery, but in its defence I’m using it because it’s a steep incline.

Time will tell on the battery longevity.

Will update this review in about a year but so far satisfied.

Do your research – Purchased this lawn mower late November of 2024. I used it about 10 times and sadly, it broke down last week (21/01/25). It’s still under warranty,… Read more

so it’s at a mower shop for review and possible repairs or replacement. The mower is easy to use, easy to put away in the shed and the battery life is excellent. I did notice however, that it never worked at level 2 of the mower. My grass variety is Kikuyu. I found I had to mow the lawns at a higher level first and then settle at level 3 which was the best. The mower simply didn’t work at a lower level after that. Based on my experience I cant recommend this mower to anyone else. Just do your research. See photos attached, it’s shows the moment the mower broke down and the level of the grass.

** Edit 19/02/25 **

EGO Australia were very good and decided to replace the mower as new parts for our mower were not available and would have taken extra weeks to repair the mower. Our new mower has three same issues as the previous mower. If you have thick kikuyu or buffalo grass, it just doesn’t start or work. It works at level 3 or 4 but anything beyond that it doesn’t work. See photos. I do not recommend this mower under those circumstances.

Mower does not work on thick turf, keeps cutting out – Doesn't work on thick turf like Zoysia, had it even sent to Ego Technician and did some upgrade, but still doesn't work. Only used it for 10 months, what a waste this is. Very disappointing. Will hopefully sell it and get a petrol mower. Show details

Self propelled made easy! – This is the first self-propelled mower I've owned and reading the reviews on various brands there's always some issue regarding managing the S-P… Read more

action. I think Ego have got it about right. You can control how much power goes to the back wheels from a slow crawl to a fast walk by use of a rotating control and the accelerator buttons on the handle kick in the power almost immediately. It was a breeze cutting the grass on my somewhat hilly block and best of all, at the end, I piled the whipper snipper on top and the mower pulled that load and me back up the hill! You don't have to have the grass catcher attached. The S-P action has 35min battery time compared with 40mins for the non-S-P version. BTW it cuts the grass adequately for my property but at 56V it might take longer with really thick grass.

First of all I had this mower only for a week. We live next to a Golf course with a lot heavy grass and weeds. I needed something powerful to cut… Read more

through the weeds. I am strong believer in the battery operated equipment but I found that brands like Makita and Ryobi seem to be underpowered. The first time I started the mower the sounds which was coming from the motor sounded like a racing car. My neighbor has petrol mower but this sound was more powerful. At the moment I started cutting the grass this machine didn't disappoint. I was cutting for about 30 min when the mower choked for the first time...mind you the grass is about 30- 40 cm tall with weeds like a spiderweb. Then I realized that the grass was still wet after all this rain...After I restarted the mower, no more issue. The mower is very robust and comes with lifelong warranty on the aluminum deck. The batteries are 12 Am and they come with two separate charges. So far so good. Why the 3 stars? The mower came only with the batteries and charger. EGO claim that can mulch and in the manual was mentioned the side discharge chute which was not included in the package. After watching numerous reviews, the reviewers mentioned that the chute was not included in the package but after contacting EGO they were given vouchers or the chute was sent FREE of charge. Not here in Australia. For $ 3,000 mower you would expect some spare blade, different type of blade (like the cheaper models) or the plastic chute which actually doesn't have any positive reviews. And why do you need a second fast charger? I would rather have a spare blade and the plastic side discharge chute, instead of useless second charger..but this is just me..
