Hi Maria Honestly not sure if I can help you with this one however buzzing type noises usually occur when the unit goes into defrost mode , defrost mode only occurs when your outside temperature is less than 5degrees , I'm also wondering I old is your Actron unit

I have the same model how ever mine doesn't do that , not sure how old your unit is , hopefully you can still claim a warranty, my unit as a heater is useless but as an air con excellent, sorry I can't help you on this

Thank you Jason, I live in Qld, so I don’t use it for heating.

I installed Actron ESP back in 2008, installed it all for $10K. Since then, I had 3 problems. First was wiring, so that was not Actron's fault and the installer fixed it free of charge. About 4 years ago, condenser coil leaked, fixed that for a few hundred bucks. This year, the soft starter failed, that's another $800+ for diagnose, repair and parts. So, it looks like a breakdown every 2 years or so. I read more reviews too, it seems like they break down fairly frequently and I only use my A/C about 2 months/year. Based on this, I don't think it's a good unit at all. I'd go for Daikin, but choose your installer properly.

Do not buy Actron , absolutely rubbish, I regret buying one it's relatively new , if I had the the money I would rip the Actron out and replace it with a Daikin

Did you get any answers? we have just moved into a rental property and have ducted aircon but the screen is just blank there is power on in the house just the panel stays blank:(

The easiest way is to install a Lanx kilowatt hour meter. You can buy them on ebay or google for it. You will need an electrician to install it in your electricity box. It will show you how many killowatts your aircon is using. Hope it helps Chris

This indicates when the compressor is asked to come on. If it is flashing this means it's on a delay timer before starting.

Absolutely, I installed this same unit and we are extremely happy, not sure where you live, if you are in the Newcastle area contact East Coast Air in East Maitland, very professional company, the unit itself is first class and would not hesitate to recommend it

I would say check to see if they have done anything about the compressor problem before you purchase.I had one installed approx 6 months ago and have had problems with the compressor not starting intermittedly.They changed the soft star unit seemed to fix it but the same problem has reappeared.

I would also ask about the issues with the soft starter as we have had ours replaced 3 times.

Hi Richard what was the symptoms that caused you to have the soft starter unit replaced please.My problem is intermittent the unit starts everything but fails to start the compressor.

All ActronAir soft starter problems should now be largely a distant memory. The soft starter has been redesigned. Just make sure the installer/electrician runs the correct wiring size to prevent any voltage drop to the unit.

Hi there, the main reason I bought the Actron was the statement that it would be one of the cheapest units to run. How wrong that was. I had an old window unit which was 20 years plus to cool down my bedroom at night and changed to the zoned Actron Unit. The result was a much higher electricity bill compared to the window rattler.

I also had nothing but problems from day one as you can tell by my review.

Do you mind me asking what is cost to install

Both systems can run down to 10% of it's capacity so 2.3kW, but you would either have to have minimal zones on or the unit is coping well with the heat load ie idling along. If the units are too small (as with any unit) they will need to run flat out just to keep up with the heat load and will be expensive to run. Installation company is very important!

The beauty of the Ultima is that you can have multiple zones which dont need to be all open at once. The system scales back (both compressor and fan) and only runs those that are open-can run at 10% of full capacity. I have noticed substantial savings. I bought the 23Kw instead of the 20Kw and my electricity account is substantially less only ruunning zones I'm in from when i had the old 5HP unit for the whole house

Hey mate, I had a loud unit too. I managed to locate and remedy the issue, where the noise was coming from. It's the compressor pipe rattling against the units exterior panel from where it emerges from, I just shoved a small amount of foam (from a sponge) in between the panel and the pipe and it stopped it from rattling. (It's the pipe that is encased with the black insulation, that carries the cool air to fan unit)

I have just had Actron ESP+ installed ( Jan 14) and having problems with noise from what I have been told is loader/ unloader unit, waiting for installer to find out from Actron why and what can be done to stop noise as we can't use it at night neighbours complain and we suffer from the noise too.

They have already moved unit to solid mounting from wall mounts to no evail.

Our home is 2 story and we still hear it 6m away from window.

Not happy with excess noise, but must say happy with performance of unit.

Try turning system off at the control inside. Then turn off the power to the aircon unit at the meter box. Wait a minute, turn power back at meter box and then turn on inside to see if that fixes. If not contact Actron Service or the installer, depending on how ,long youve had it

Hello Shahram, I never experienced that sort of issue with my unit before, you may need to contact Actron. I am sorry that I cannot help you solve your problem.

I highly recommend you hear an outdoor unit running before you buy one.
