knobs burn you – We love our AEG oven however our stove top is very disappointing. The knobs get extremely hot. Tonight I had a 20cm saucepan boiling and I have burnt my hand on the knob turning it down. Show details

What a Lemon, disappointed ! – I love the trivets, those are really nice quality ! My wife and I are really disappointed in this AEG stove. We were comparing the Miele to the AEG and the warranty was the decider, do not make the same mistake. We were steered by the 5 years warranty, what a mistake that was. It takes an eternity to boil or heat pots up, as a comparison our… Read more

previous middle of the road Simpson was much faster in this regard. The stainless steel is burned on multiple spots, and areas. AEG sent out their local repo who tried to sand the stainless steel back, you know how that turned out, pointless time wasting exercise. Our previous Simpson stove looked better after 12 years of use then this after 1 year. This was our first and for a very long time our last AEG product. I wish I could return this to the local Harvey Norman store for a full refund..in fact I will probably try as this just is not fit for purpose. Very disappointed, AEG is marketing itself as a premium line of Electrolux, not even close.

Not at all happy – We purchased all AEG products during a sale. I have no complaints with the oven and microwave. However the stove hob is very poor, it takes 20 minutes to boil a large pot of water. There does not seem to be enough heat on any burner. My previous cook top (smeg) did it in half the time. I am actually thinking of biting the bullet and replacing it.

I like this cooktop a lot – Had this cooktop installed last week and so far I am pretty impressed. There does appear to be more room on the cooktop with the controls at the front compared to my old white Smeg which had the knobs on the side. Ignition of the burners is no problem. I really like how it is set lower than other cooktops so the cast iron trivets don't appear so… Read more

big. The only down side is that it is more time consuming to clean then the old white enamel one, but it looks so good when cleaned and dried properly that I am willing to spend the extra 5 mins.

Incomplete purchase transaction – Purchased AEG Gas hob HG 60FX from Dealer Kitchen Things NZ it was a display model discounted .After 3 months I am still waiting to receive installation manual and mounting bracket's never experienced so much duck shoving between agent and AEG rep. Have learnt that dealer only has stock on consignment and has no financial interest in the transaction . Would accept a cash refund to purchase a replacement elsewhere.

Good looking cooktop but – We bought the matching AEG gas cooktop Feb this year (2014) after purchasing the AEG pyrolytic oven (Model BP5013001M) April 2013, which we have been extremely happy with. The 5 year warranty was an important factor in our choice as well as the look of it. However, one thing the salesman failed to advise us of was that the largest saucepan… Read more

or frying pan you can place on the 60cm cooktop is 20-22cm which completely defeated our main reason for purchasing this cooktop. Our previous cooktop had the controls along the side, thus taking up some of the cooking area. However, the AEG cooktop has the controls along the bottom which not only gave it a sleeker look, but also appeared to give a much larger cooking area, something the salesman was quick to point out.

But this is NOT the case when one reads the manual to discover that the largest saucepan/frying pan one can use on the 60cm cooktop is 20-22cm. In fact, using a larger pan and hence damaging the stainless steel outer, voids the warranty. We only found this out after developing a very large scorch mark from using a large stockpot on the largest ring available.

Fortunately for us, a trivet was supposed to be supplied for use on the large ring when using a wok, but was not, and hence our cooktop was replaced under warranty. However, the trivet obviously cannot be used for a large saucepan, for instance, (it would topple over). Many of my stockpots and large fry pans are larger than 22cm (as I'm sure many people's are) and if I use them, I not only have to ensure that they do not overhang the gas ring so that the stainless steel is not scorched, but I have the added problem of not having even cooking across the base of the pan. This is a major design fault, in my opinion, on a cooker which is quite expensive at around $1100.

Interestingly, I never had a problem of scorched stainless steel in over 10 years of use with my previous cooktop, a Fisher & Pykel, which was a very much cheaper cooktop that came with the house when I moved in, and as previously explained, I often had saucepans butting up against each other because the controls were along the side. In other words, I was no doubt using larger saucepans than was recommended, but the cooktop suffered no ill effects.

Although I like the look of the cooktop and the 5 year warranty is a good selling point, I am sorely disappointed that it precludes efficient use of a number of my cooking pots and pans. The look of it. Will not take a saucepan larger than 22cm. The manual is woeful. It has 2 and a bit pages for the user, and 4 and a bit for the installer.

Looks good, performs well, easy clean – I prefer gas cooktops and when it came to replacing a faulty Smeg cooktop, I decided on on the AEG cooktop with AEG pyrolytic oven (both 60cm). Would have liked the 90cm version, but just don't have the room until complete kitchen re-fit in a couple of years. I like the recess style of this cooktop, so it has a sleeker profile in the kitchen. It… Read more

definitely is powerful and noticeably quicker to cook things than my old cooktop. The wok burner works well, which is good as I love cooking stir fry meals and was worried that it would not have the heat intensity needed; it does!

Have found it easy to clean and have not had any problem with wobbly pans on the trivets. The look, fast cooking capabilities and flame safety feature. Very hard to get a low enough flame for slow braising using good quality stainless steel cookware. Will solve the problem with heat diffuser as I'd rather have this problem than lack of heat/flame intensity.
