unsure what the reason was. After about 14 months the back pain became unbearable. About a month ago a claim was submitted through Harvey Norman, we sent the obligatory photos as requested, an AH Beard rep attended our home and said the bed was within spec.

Actually lying in the bed would have produced more evidence than just looking at the bed. The bed has a hump in the middle and the sides sagged when you lie on it giving you the feeling that you're about to fall out of the bed. You cant tell that by looking at it you actually have to lie in it.

If I do not get a satisfactory outcome from this claim I will approach the ACCC citing this bed not fit for purpose. If AH Beard allow me to replace, I will replace with something else.

possible to sleep on. So we made a claim. Before they would even assess the mattress we had to pay an independent steam cleaner to have the bed cleaned- they would not collect if we didn’t show a receipt of cleaning. So out of pocket $150 just to get assessed. Once clean, AH beard collected and deemed the spring system to be faulty. They opted to repair rather than replace. This took weeks for them to do. Upon the mattresses return we found it REAKED of chemicals. We aired it out in the sun but the smell was so strong we woke to headaches, nausea and the smell had leached into our pjs and hair. It was repulsive. They came to collect the mattress and aired it in their warehouse for a further 3 weeks and then returned it to us. Within 5 mins of the bed being in our room the chemical smell was permeating the room. They came to collect and now have said that there is no smell. They will not replace the mattress, they will not clean it, and they insist we accept the mattress back.

I have contacted consumer affairs as they did not provide a proper resolution and are being so unreasonable.

Do not buy a bed from AG Beard!!!

I loved the mattress king koil spine support plush we had for 10 years with no problems. I'm about to upgrade but I'm apprehensive about buying another king koil with the bad reviews. I can't seem to find the same spine support plush mattress online. Is there a mattress similar to the spine support plush? Show details ·  3

Medium chiropractor A H Beard bliss and excellent to sleep on and I can go days without sleep. Strange size super long king hard to get sheets unless you buy from Harvey Norman. Apart from that Highly Recommended! Show reply

King Koil Luxury Serenity Ultra Plush – King Koil - Luxury Serenity in ultra plush. Best bed!!! I have been reading peoples posts regarding the medium but i have had the opposite experience with the ultra plush. I paid a lot more for the upgrade to ultra plush compared to plush but it was worth it. I regularly rotate the bed and my husband an I have not experienced sagging or any other issues. Would not recommend buying a King Koil mattress, nor would I recommend buying from A.H. Beard. that it is a soft model. Our sleep is terrible, and my partner and I are now both having significant neck and back problems, and are in pain after every nights sleep. Neither of us have ever had a problem like this from sleeping before. We even tried rotating the mattress every few days but it did nothing to help. Forty Winks advised we contact AH Beard, who eventually took the mattress for ‘testing’. After the testing, AH Beard advised that the mattress ‘passed the factory specifications’. We explained that the mattress doesn’t visibly sag when not in use, however sags significantly under a persons weight. I doubt they tested this, as you would notice immediately. They suggested our bed frame may be the issue, and to try using the mattress on the floor. However, we did not have this issue with our last mattress, or the temporary mattress used when they were testing this one. We’ve since tried it on the floor, and it has not helped. We are now left with a very expensive mattress that neither of us want use as it causes us both to be in pain. So far AH Beard have been of little help - so would warn anyone who’d listen not to buy a King Koil product.

they took my mattress back ( which they re sold ) and I was sent a new one that smelt the same. I haven’t unpacked it (smelt it through a hole in the plastic) and now have it up for sale.

A H Beards customer service is atrocious and it’s actually frightening to think businesses can sell such toxic products and not be accountable. My concern is for a small baby or anyone with breathing issues sleeping on this. And they wonder why so many people have cancer ! Fair trading should be investigating this instead of letting it go under the ridiculous “off gassing” Term.

The mattress has a strong chemical smell even after trying to air it for almost a year. Can't sleep on it, feeling sick when close to it. They must have changed the glue or some parts of mattres after pandemic trying to save cost, prior to covid its mattress doesn't have this smell. Do not buying this brand.

different types of mattresses etc. Myself telling him I did not want a bed with any type of memory foam which did not receive a reply. Well, I have been kicking myself for not walking out of this shop that day. When the bed was delivered over 5 weeks later when we discovered it had incorrect gliders. Arrangements were made to swap for some off another bed in the showroom. Upending the bed to remove the legs we found a large tear in the material covering the bottom of the bed. To avoid the hassle of sending the bed back for repairs I have reluctantly taped it together.

Well! The big problem is I cannot sleep on this mattress. In all my long life I have never experienced such a terrible bed. The first night I slept under an hour before waking up and tossing and turning with a terrible back pain. It's supposedly a firm mattress, but has what I feel is type of memory foam comfort layer which completely messes up my back because my hips are sinking in way more than they should and putting pressure in my waist area. If on my back, the pressure is in the small of my back and same thing, Intense back pain that creeps up after 15 minutes. Because of these body depressions it was impossible to sleep in any other position because I would roll down back into the depression. Rotating as instructed is senseless as there are equally deep depressions on both sides of the bed. And as for; ‘Also try to sleep the full width of the mattress from left to right to settle the full sleeping surface area’ What sort of mattress is this that requires such ludicrous methods to even out the surface of a new bed.

It wasn't the most expensive but it was definitely not a cheap purchase. We spent almost $3K for the mattress and can't afford to just chuck it and buy a new one. I looked on trade me and what beds were selling for, but there are a lot on there and very few buyers. I'm just frustrated. How can we salvage this situation? What do we do? You know that contacting AH Beard is just wasting time having them try and convince me that there is nothing wrong with the bed, to finally take it away, try and "fix it" only to suffer the same problem again... no thanks... Shame on you AH Beard to be making such an appalling product that affects people's health and their lives! I believe this thing is classified as “Not fit for Purpose” as its failing to perform as advertised or its intended purpose. I urge anyone thinking of buying a mattress from this company to steer well clear!!! How they are still in business is complete beyond me.

We bought a KINGKOIL Chiro Performance Firm 2 years ago and it’s been sagged for at least a year now. We both experience back pain because of this. I started a claim through AH Beard who wanted tonnes of information (to hope customers will give up and buy a new one). It says in the warranty that 25mm sag is normal (we only have about 15mm sag) so they won’t do anything about it. Just feel like it was a waste of money at this point. Show details

The AH Beard mattress we bought last year lost its structure within months, yet the company refused to take responsibility. Their warranty only applies if the springs sink over 4 cm — any foam sagging is considered “normal.” All they offered was to replace the top layer at MY OWN cost. the mattress back at our expense, to the factory in QLD, to be "assessed". Advice was that it would take up to 6 weeks for assessment and repair. I have requested a new replacement be offered, and will take this up with Fair Trading unless a successful resolution is reached.

injury and I am taking more pain medications when I sleep on it than when I am away or camping. A $6000 mattress is causing me more pain than a blow up camping mattress. At time of trying it I was told that no matter where I lived if there was a problem a rep would be able to come out and help with any issues, now they are saying it’s not possible and I have to pay to get it to the warehouse for assessment. Tried the mattress at the Wagga Wagga Forty Winks store, they didn’t have it in store and would be weeks till delivery available so I bought over the phone through the Albury Forty Winks store. Both stores have been less than helpful and one of the worst customer experiences I have had.

Bad quality of mattress – Purchased a AH Beard deluxe mattress which cost over $7,000. The mattress is nothing like the one at the showroom and is lumpy. It has given myself and my husband the worst night sleeps and we both now suffer from bad backs. Would not recommend to anyone. called the store to make sure the right mattress was ordered as this matteess is so different. After the first night I was consistently waking up with pins and needles, numbness and pain. The mattress is supposedly medium but sags so much and has become so soft it’s a joke. I have been consistently told by cusomter service and the inspector they sent out (who supposedly found no issue even tho he tested nothing on the mattress, did not as me any questions regarding my experience with the mattress at all/ was a compilers waste of everyone’s time) that it will be more comfortable the more you sleep on it. I literally can’t sleep on it, it keeps me up all night tossing and turning I am so uncomfortable. Customer service cannot have effective conversations only regurgitate the company policy over and over. Place blame on you for “choosing wrong”. Only outcome they give is to spend more money with them. I will never ever purchase from them again.

that mattresses we slept on when on holidays recently were quite firm, but very good for us. This model has great spring support, firm edges and we also like the Tencel fabric. There is no partner disturbance. I am asthmatic with other allergies and this mattress was a good choice for me - very minimal odour after unpacking, which dispersed after a short airing. We are very happy that long standing shoulder, hip, and lower back issues are no longer impacting our days. Putting this down to the improved posture we both seem to have now from sleeping on such a supportive mattress.
