Useless and even more useless.
We pay almost 300 a month and really only use it for dental and eye ware.The amount you get back is quite dismal and what you payout per year is simply a joke.The time will come when all the people you screwed over with your yearly price increases and poor service is coming.Its true that you guys have really made a name for yourselves even my GP said leave them.
JUNK POLICIES - Purchase at your own risk
I used to think I was pretty well versed, educated and thorough when I make buying decisions. When deciding on a health fund, my only requirements were that I was covered if I had to go to hospital, at least the hospital fees were covered. AHM I am since finding out will tell you things you want to hear to sell you a policy you think gives you coverage on what you think is important. And now I actually need to claim to get a tumour removed and they won't even cover my hospital. Sooooo what? I'm paying thousands of dollars to get less than ha...lf back on two dental visits a year? What a rip off! Firstly, they flat out lied and misled me to sell me a junk policy. Now I'm finding out from friends, "AHM have a tendency to sell junk policies" HA, they even have a reputation, obviously this isn't the first time it's happened and I certainly fell for it. Your industry is losing members each and every day and soon will be wiped out. It will be because of your own unethical behaviour. I'm cancelling and will certainly not be "upgrading" with you. And never will join AHM or Medibank and will actively tell anybody that will listen to never do the same either.
Extremely let down and disappointed
I was promised excellent cover. And every single time I have ever needed it. Nothing is ever covered.
Now I am faced with a do it or die operation. Lone behold... not covered yet again. But wait.... try sell me a dearer policy that will cover me better.... (hello I will be dead without this op).. So in turn you’re just trying to rip more money from me.
I pay you lot thousands and thousands of dollars every year to protect my family and it is not worth the paper it is written on.
Extremely disappointed and I feel extremely let down by AHM.
I will never EVER recommend this company .. but I will recommend that everyone steers clear of this health insurance company.

The title of "Flexi" for their policies is ironic
Loyalty goes only one way for AHM - and it isn't to the customers' benefit. They operate by the ethos "A lie by omission isn't a lie". Please avoid. Changed my cover without telling me. Plus the rebates are crap. Every single option of theirs is less worthwhile than putting the money aside every month.
Kept billing me for 3 months after I cancelled. I cant claim until they cancel so I’ve been waiting and waiting to get refunds. I call my new insurer they say they sent an email straight away, and resend an email. Then nothing... ahm keeps billing.
I am leaving ahm as I got barely anything back on my insurance - so what’s the point. $600 of dentistry work and only receiving $150 back from my insurance it’s a crock.
Finally, I call them today to cancel for the fourth time and they tell me they’ve not received a letter. They can only cancel f...rom today. I cancelled more than 3 months ago. I have a copy and I forward it to them, they ask me to include my membership number. Then I’m asked to call back to make sure they get it. Are they a business or do they need their customers to do their work for them?! Absolute disgrace.
AHM Private Health
Policy changed twice and was not notified via text or phone to advise, they also did not tell me about a claim form I needed to lodge 2 weeks prior to my surgery
They will then review the form to decide if the condition was pre-existing or not??? Really AHM you are the ones that force changed my policy not the other way around
Now I need to re-schedule the surgery and all related matters to when they decide that the condition was pre-existing? Really AHM you have all these details listed from my sign up call over 12 months ago
Complete Waste of Money
We have been members since 1993. It started as Government Employees Health Fund and this company was wonderful. Over the years it eventually became AHM and the service has declined dramatically, not to mention the products. Top dollar for not much return in claims. It was the gross incompetence of staff, plus paying top dollar for products when same products are available elsewhere for less that made us change. AHM happily kept charging for obstetrics when I am over 60, never once pointing this out and reducing our premium until I found o...ut by accident! Premium was immediately reduced. Great example of dishonesty. Recently it took five phone calls, combined total of over one hour being put on hold, for a simple claim to be realised. Customer service is below par. Really happy that we have now changed. Don't know why it took us so long! Make sure you shop around. I agree with a previous reviewer....AHM shonky!
An expensive product.
Unfortunately is this day and age you have to have health insurance and I think not one company is any better than the other. AHM allows me to do all my transactions on HICAPS.
Best Health insurer
I have signed up for the super extras cover for a family of 4. Not once have i been disappointed, everything has been covered as stated in my product guide. I forgot my card once and had to pay the full fee at my chiropractor appointment, i put a claim through online and less then 24 hours later I had been reimbursed. I have piece of mind knowing my family are covered for the unexpected. Thank you for not charging an arm and leg for health insurance and keeping me and my young family going.
Shonkiest health insurance policy
First up the basic product doesn't cover anything, absolute nothing as everything is excluded which renders the policy useless. They will promise discount, but will never apply them. Has happened to us 3 times. Steer well clear of them.
Can't claim on benefits, expensive AHM private insurance
With AHM 3 years++. Paid more to the AHM than the benefits I'll get. It's hard to claim back especially if the providers have no HICAPS machine. Although there are HICAPS services, some providers that provide service such as orthotics, health and management, etc are still unable to swipe member card for the payment which ends up with out of pocket money first. In my case, I ended up UNABLE to claim back the out of pocket money although I've been asking the AHM customer hotline first. AHM service is full of hypes. In my final opinion, why must you stay with AHM private insurance when you can't claim the benefits??
Great service & benefits
AHM is our first private health insurer and so far I'm really happy with them. We chose the extras cover and it's been so beneficial to us. I discovered them through compare the market and their prices were great for what we were after. The staff have been friendly and onto it whenever I've ever needed anything. Would definitely recommend .
Theft of a health fund
My account has been cancelled but they keep taking the direct debit!! I spoke to someone on the phone weeks ago about this, listen to your phone recordings... Give me my money back!
Have been with the since 2017 but have only used my extras cover this month for dental. So easy saving me hundreds of dollars. Swipe yr card then pay the remainder. Low fortnightly payments for my whole family. Would definitely recommend!!!

I joined this Health Fund back in 1986 when it was known as GEHF. It has changed hands a few times now. As I have been a member for so long, the contract that I had previously is honoured and will remain so. My children who are over 25 years old continue with the fund that I first set up. There are items which they continue on from my cover that cannot be chosen anymore. They can also mover their cover up and down the scale at any time to help cover their needs at different stages of their life. This fund allows you to have children under your ...cover till they are 25 years old. This has helped us immensely as I have 4 children. I pay monthly and I am happy with all the cover I get. I have had many conversations over the phone and most of the time, the representative has the knowledge of different plans and such. There have been claims made through this health fund for work accidents, car accidents and everyday issues. Each claim has been straight forward for us and has been finished within weeks. It has suited our family's needs over the years and continues to do so.
AHM = Another Healthcare Mafia
I switched to AHM as my HCF plan was beginning to get expensive for a large family. Straight away cards were late in being issued, then payments for basic dental started getting refused. I barely use this health fund and their cover ceases. I would strongly advise against using AHM or any of the Medibank associates - they are only in it for the money. Changed back to HCF.
Would be zero for price and cover if possible
Some guy rang me today not sure where he was from maybe switch (?) but I usually hang up being hassled from change insurers & energy providers. Half listening he said you probably know Health insurance has gone up abt 25% in last 5 years to which I responded mines gone up over 100% !! He transferred me to iselect who had put me on AHM nearly 8 years ago.. and immediately the operator was pretty flabbergasted too as the ridiculous increase in premium as the only claim ever made was an ambulance trip & overnight observation stay in a public hospi...tal. I immediately took out new cover with NIB for 33% less and same cover. Also paid huge travel insurance premium with AHM by mistake, also making no claims. I do not recommend AHM if you like me didn’t stay if the know!
Very poor service.
I had a very disappointing call with their customer service today.
That staff don’t care, the information they give is never accurate and it’s not worth the money to be quite honest.
Don’t waste your time with them.
Polite but no empathy. Incomplete service and coverage.
*EDIT* After being contacting by the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman on my behalf, the below issues were resolved soon after and I have left AHM for another provider.
The following experience should be read in the past tense and is my experience alone
The maximum extras and maximum hospital is not good value and does not provide the service they have advertised. Claims are not covered. I've been with AHM for over 15 months
I'm on the maximum coverage.
I paid $1234 to debt collection because AHM have not paid for an emergency ambulance during my chemotherapy after months of trying to claim.
Only Health Insurance Company to use
I have been with AHM since 2014 and they have always given me exactly what I wanted for the most competitive price. The customer service is of the highest quality and any questions get answered within the first point of contact, all reimbursements happen quickly and my cover suites all my needs. My family and friends are all coverted to AHM as you can't get any better.

I went to hospital few weeks ago for which I have been mailed invoice recently from the hospital. I have insurance with AHM and I m not really sure where to visit to complete the payment as I cannot find any AHM center around western Australia in google. What to do when you’ve been asked for an audit? I cant find most of my receipts, does this mean I have to pay them back? Just because I’ve been with them for almost 3 years and never made a claim. Had recent claims, but now they requested for my receipts.
