The manufacturer is impossible not contact n ALDI is no help at all money poorly spent – Do not buy any gardenline products from ALDI as U cannot buy replacement parts for them their website is no help n no phone contact is possible Show details
Lasted 4 years, nothing but trouble – From the very beginning the mower was terrible. Screws falling out, blades did not cut evenly or cut grass nicely. Then finely the mower casing exploded with bits flying everywhere. A very typical Aldi product, from TVs , blenders and microwaves never lasting long. Never again will I buy a product from aldi. Worst ever mower purchased! – The catcher is difficult to fit and rail fills with grass and needs clearing each empty. Front bar restricts close mowing. Handle is too high and I reversed it. The mower is extremely heavy. Overall Aldi products are poor quality. Worst design ever! Show details
Works well, no problems – This mower has been great for us. It is easy to start, really easy to push and manoeuvre around the yard given its a pull mower! And the price was good. Show details
Excellent mower with a couple of small issues – The mower model is MS196-52E (product code 61866). This mower works very well on a large lawn area. My garden is close to an acre and I find this mower easier to use and far cheaper than a ride-on mower. It is on the heavier side but it has a strong self-propulsion which makes the mowing job much easier especially on an incline. It also makes use… Read more
of a Li-ion battery for starting, which again is a big plus for this mower. After stopping the mower for whatever reason, restarting is a breeze. One small issue is the design of the grass outlet on the right side. It is held in place by a spring which releases too readily if the plastic cover knocks against any obstacle, including tall grass. This is a nuisance as it requires the machine to be stopped and the plastic cover replaced before starting again. Since this has happened too often for me, I modified this outlet to remain firmly connected to the base and this has solved the problem completely.

The fuel cap is a wrong design. The replacement fail within 3 months again – At 11th/Sep/2018 I purchased this Aldi Lawn Mower (61866) MS196-52E with electric start and self propelled. Although it is a heavy mower, but I love the electric start makes so easy to start the engine. Unfortunately after 3 months the plastic fuel cap seems to be cracked and broken due to the chemical reaction with fuel so i rang the warranty guy… Read more
and he quickly send me a replacement for the fuel cap.
However an other 4 months passed the cap fail again. Between May~June 2019 I tried all i can do by calling, sending emails, write them a letter trying to tell them the replacement is also a faulty unit. But this time i can't get any help, no one is able to answer my question. There is a lady told me that they will call me back but that was 2 weeks ago and i am still waiting someone to help me at August 2019.....
If the fuel cap is not a problem i should give it a 5 stars review, however it is now a big problem.
Just Perfect – Having bought an Aldi's Gardenline Petrol Mower last year, I can honestly say that I am completely satisfied with its performance. Our lawn is a considerable size and the mower never falters: its starts immediately, cuts beautifully and the catcher is more than adequate. Would I recommend this product. Absolutely! Show details
If it breaks down, don't expect help – Purchased the self-propelled push start Gardeline mower in late August. The drive belt continually jumps off, sometimes at the front (easy to get back on), but the last time it jumped off at the gearbox, which is impossible to put back on,and a tension spring jumps off as well. I have been trying to get this fixed by going through Scheppach… Read more
(Gardenline support) since October, but I only get the run around and no information out of them. Nobody I talk to is allowed to make a decision, and when the manager calls me all I get is "Oh, it's a common problem, it's easy to fix" (which it is not). After calling Aldi directly and demanding a full refund, all they do is get Scheppach to call you back, and the merry-go-round starts all over again. I finally spoke to one person who informed me that the nearest service agent is almost an hour drive away from where I live, but he was unable to authorise a service booking, so his boss would call me back, which he never did.
Be very wary of buying Gardenline products.
Wheels are a real problem – I read reviews where people had complained about the wheels bending out and wondered whether they had been treating the mower a little rough. I sent my 11 year old out to have a go at mowing the nature strip with our brand new Gardenline Mower this morning. 5 minutes in he stopped because the front right wheel had bent out to the side. I was… Read more
easily able to straighten it up by hand which shows how weak it is. Not expecting it to stay in place for long. Otherwise the mower seems ok. Update: 2 years on, the mower is going strong so I've added a couple of stars. Wheel still bent. I use an elastic strap to hold the catcher in a higher position so I don't get covered in grass clippings. Other than that no complaints. Starts first time every time.
Not bad for the price! – My old mower decided to die mid mow so was stuck without a mower. After checking my local hardware stores I remembered that Aldi had them (I was 4 weeks too late). Checked a few stores and found one reduced to clear. For the price (even the original price) you really can’t expect Victa / Briggs and Stratton quality. Easy to put together and… Read more
worked very easily first go.
After first mow - the catcher is a terrible design and does let dust through so it’s so so.
Cutting height is a bit too low so I’ve got it on the highest setting.
My only real gripe is the variable speed (or lack thereof). The spring mechanism is there for it but there’s no way without pulling it to increase power so unsure why it’s there at all.
Overall, value for money if you just want to mow grass and nothing else.
We’ll see how long it lasts (so I’ll update this if anything happens).
Great value mower – The best mower and best catcher around. Larger than two Victa ones and empties so much easier. Great value at under $150 and now we have one at home as well as one at our holiday cottage, so no need to cart it there when we take a vacation. Bargain! Thanks Aldi! Show details
first one was so good i bought a second one which was a bomb – i bought an aldi electric start mower, it was so good i bought another one when they came on sale again. boy was that a mistake, the drive wheels were much smaller than the first, then the speed control is by the engine revs not gears as the first one was. there are so many changes, that i think aldi lost the plot as to what a mower should be. … Read more
i bought the first one in march 2018, the second one 2 weeks ago (october 2018).
should have bought 2 at the same time, the first one is the best i ever bought, the second one is only a rough mower.
ALDI get your act together, if you have a great mower, don't mess with it.
would recomend the first one not the later model
Does a reasonable job – This is obviously a cheaper, mass produced mower but it still does a perfectly OK , if slightly rough job. There are one or two things that look a bit dubious in terms of long term durability. I don't think the wheels look all that strong and the whole handlebar flexes around corners but hey! Its a cheapo from Aldi and it does a reasonable job of cutting the grass, Show details

Know better, choose better.
Works well Lightly Built – This is going great so far. Its only lightly built and I don't expect it to last forever but it does exactly what its supposed to and does it well. Its easy to maneuver about and the catcher actually does seem to get most of the clippings. Durability 3/5 value 4/5 Happy enough with it Show details
Pleasantly surprised – I know its only early days (1 month old), but I'm quite happy with it. Fuel economy is great. Great cutting and catching. Very light in weight. I'm am a little concerned with the clip together two halves catcher and hard plastic wheels over time though. But otherwise, I'm happy Show details
Best mower I’ve used (including a good Honda) – Only had 1 issue which was it spat dirt and grass at me because the catcher’s spring wasn’t good enough. Nothing a jockey strap wouldn’t fix. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good cheap mower. The self-propelled saved me so much effort and the grass was very fine. Good mulch. Show details
Waste of Money – Bought the gardenline push Botton start mower from Aldi special buy Saturday room the mower home asked the staff if I needed anything to go with the mower they said no get it home and you need mower oil as it’s empty. Once put together mower lasted 20min and just died would not start again. Rang after hrs care I’m still waiting for a call back 24… Read more
hrs later. So took the mower back to Aldi upper Coomera was told they can’t take mower back with petrol or oil in mower very duty manager had a bad attitude. Buyer beware on this mower.
Gardenline electric start Mower – The engine so far seems Okay but the body engineering design is less than amateurish with no comparison to other cheap mowers. The blades are above the level of the body guard making cutting difficult on uneven ground or tufts. The handle is too high with the result the heavy mower tends to want to lift off the ground at the rear when going… Read more
uphill. The handle is also too weak allowing much flexing which just adds to the energy required to push it. This mower may work on even level ground with soft turf, but if you have hills or rough do not buy this mower. I ended up solving the issues by re-engineering at the expense of voiding any warranty.
Worst mover – Please stay away on any of the Gardenline product since i had a bad experienced. From the mower, edge trimmer to the blower are all poorly designed. Its cheap and its crap!!!! Mower's handle is falling off every few minutes since the method of fixing of the handle is by means of nut and screw which get loosen when you are mowing. Worst ever mower. PLEASE PLEASE stay away. Simple to use – Easy to use, low cost, standard lawn mower really. The large wheels are a good feature makes it a lot easier to move around. I can mow my lawn on a full tank, I do have a big yard! Light weight to which also makes it easier on mowing the lawns. Show details
