ALDI Ferrex 224cc Self Propelled Electric Start Petrol Lawn Mower
Good Price. However heavy to manoeuvre and also heavy to push without self propel, height lever did not go low enough and also appeared flimsy. I have a medium size yard well grassed with a slight incline in the front where I used my self propel regularly. Loved the key start with battery well charged, easy to operate with easy pull start as backup. Catcher was more than enough, even became too heavy when filled with grass. My major problem was size of machine, weight for lifting and when self propel failed became very noisy with major vibratio...
Read moren which in turn affected the height adjustment lever as it would not stay in place. Warranty of 5 years worthless as no one in my area willing to touch it. Very impressed from Positec Australia who authorised return of machine to Aldi for full refund. Unit was bought 1/10/2021 (9mths).Purchased in at ALDI for $399.
Self propelled wheels
The drive spline inside the right wheel has worn down to a point the drive sprocket does not engage the wheel to move the mower forward the left side is perfect as you will see in the attachment
terrible mower
mower given to me by brother (i fix mowers as a hobby business) . inintially , i refused to take it. it was the most hideous abomination of a mower i had seen to date. IT looks ridiculous. Just pushing it, it is EXTREMELY cumbersome and unwieldy. it wasnt running, so i thought to take a look. Tedious to work on. will probably end up getting it going. Thing belongs in a museum. Or back to the void from where it began. This thing never should of seen the light of day. Absolute disgrace to manufacture and design. I have seen victa 2 stroke go for 40 years. This thing looks like it would last barely 1. DO NOT BUY!!
Purchased for $0.
I have found with the Ferrex 173 cc mower that I have to mow the grass twice as the mower or the blades do not do a good enough cut with just one mow

A few small build quality issues - e.g. one of the wheel covers falls off occasionally. However, when you compare the price to what you get it's easy to see it's a good deal.

Ferrex Pro Mower problems
Purchased in September 2021. First problem was the height adjustment not holding its position due to very thin metal on position notch section. Finally had to tie the lever in place with electrical cable to stop it moving. Now the self-propelled drive is not working. Checked with local authorized repair outlets and was told at least 5 weeks delay to inspect and service. What do I do while I'm waiting for the repair ?

Purchased in for $450.
The self drive crapped out in about a month.
Don't bother with this garbage. Go with something decent over this pathetic excuse for a lawn mower.
You'd be better off buying some scissors.
Purchased in at ALDI for $300.

It seems I flushed $300 in toilet. Who gives certificate to sale this product. He/she deserves to be flushed in toilet too.
Lots of white/blue smoke at first session of using. It also doesn't fill the catcher. It's a piece of rubbish.
Motor locked up after less than 2 hours use, unrepairable. Should not be allowed to put junk like this on the market. Aldi should be ashamed of it self for selling garbage like this. People who make this crap should be put in jail.

Who ever created this is stupid as hell. The doesn't even assemble properly. So much for being smart you made it 10x harder to use then $1200 lawn mowers. This garbage ain't even worth it. Within minutes, the mower completely stops and gets jammed.
I was about to spend 800 on a Honda self propelled mower but seen this for 300, Because of all the rain lately all my business lawns were long. So I was putting the Ferrex to the test 1st day, So I put 10w30 500ml oil as stated.....not 450ml?? that someone else said. First I mowed my lawn very small and the amount of white smoke that it blowed out I couldnt see and I chocked in it. So I tipped out some oil and it went fine after that. Next day mowed some very big lawns went fine?? 3rd day again more some lawns on an angle and the plume of white...
Read more smoke again so this time I lowered the revs and the smoke stopped then I started again did 2 strips and smoke again, this happened 2-3 more times then mowed rest of lawn with no more issue?? Another day the pull cord went loose and wouldn't catch to start?? But this seems to have gone away now??? On the good side when it mows its great especially when I add the side attachment for longer lawns so half goes in catcher half out then I mow in a circle take side attach off then pick up rest of grass with catcher. I love the hight adjuster handle and the hight levels. Would I recommend this mower and would I get it again??? NO and NO!!Purchased in at ALDI for $299.

I have the 161cc ferrex and I'm sorry to say NOT HAPPY. It uses more oil than fuel, unable to use on my buffalo grass with the front of the deck so low . Its like a bulldozer. Its has no decompression valve, so starting this mongrel is , well not easy. Noticed the governor not working i think from new. It's a all rounder pain to use. I'll never buy another. Aldi at taree

Purchased for the advertised price of $79, that's right $79. Got it home, assembled it, fueled and oiled it, cut the grass as good as expected. Told the neighbour, she went straight off and purchased the identical machine. We've both now had the machines for three summer seasons. The fluid levels are always checked before use, it is appropriately cleaned before being put away and with other due care and attention there has not been a single problem with the operation of the unit. I can also say the same for the neighbour's mower. I also cut a d...
Read moreifferent neighbour's lawn, so my mower does double duty. I severely damaged the cutting blade on an exposed rock. A quick Ebay search quickly turned up a new blade for $30, Excellent. What is there to dislike about the product ??. I can not believe some of the published reviews -- it is obvious that lack of proper care/maintenance is the cause of many of the 'alleged' problems.Purchased at ALDI for $79.

Best value for money product I’ve ever purchased. I bought a Makita brushless mover for $1300, at Christmas and it’s junk , the Ferrex cost me $199 and it out performs the Makita in ever way.
