It worked twice before breaking down. The cheap plastic components broke off when you put the power down making it useless Show details
Not worth the money – Silly me- bought this second hand and quickly found the reason the original purchaser got rid of it: Oil from the crankcase leaks into the cylinder head, causing hydraulic lock. If you clear that by removing the spark plug it continues to pump oil out of the carburettor air-intake. Absolute rubbish! Show details
Not Powerful and DEADLY Major Defect – This product is not very powerful and ontop of that it started to slowly leak gasoline while using and if I was any more careless that gasoline could have spilt on my leg and then during intense heat possibly ignite which would have set me on fire! that is why this product is HORRIBLE and has a DEADLY defect!!! ATTENTION: UPDATE: Aldi has reached… Read more
back to me saying they cannot help with a refund and to go to the manufacturer instead deliberately avoiding taking responsibility.
Worked okay for a year ... now engine won't turn off by the switch – I have a red version purchased mid-2019 - 31cc brush cutter (but I only use line trimmer). It's 4-stroke, it's heavy, and the line tends to break a little too (although I am not gentle with it around garden edges and trees and curbs). It always starts reasonably quickly - used every few weeks (make sure to pump the fuel 10 times min - and always… Read more
use 95 grade petrol - and never E10). But after almost 18 months, it has developed problem that, after running for a while, the on-off switch won't kill the engine. The only way to stop the engine now it is to disconnect the plastic fuel lines and wait for engine to stop (disconnecting fuel lines is obviously a fire risk around a hot engine). This brings me to the best thing about Aldi garden products - make sure it has the minimum 3 year warranty (this will be the second line trimmer I have replaced from Aldi under warranty - one was the cheaper battery model, and now this 4-stroke). I have had a problem with Ryobi petrol line trimmer and most of cheaper models only offer 1 year warranty which (in my opinion) is just way too short for these problem prone garden tools.
Very hard to turn on and wire always snapping – I found that 9 times out of 10 I could not start the trimmer and also the plastic wire breaks each time I use it. I have had to change the wire 5 times in 5 trims. The item is very difficult to use. It is easy to replace the line but I am having to replace it every use. Show details
Dud product – Spent some time putting it together as there are lots of parts to it. however the instructions were OK to follow. My main gripe is that I can't get the motor to start (using the two stroke petrol/oil mix). It is also very heavy. I think Aldi should recall these as this is a waste of $200. Show details
dont buy. it wont start – the trimming head is fixed so i cant find any replacement. engine wont start at all. i have to resort to take the cap off and spray WD40 right into the engine before i can start it. i spent more time in getting the engine to start and change the line than the actual grass trimming. Never started. None existent service centre. Terrible after sales support – The one I bought never started. Contacted after sales support and asked to talked to the company's technician. The lady at the other end of the line said she doesn't work with the company so she'll just get my message and forward it to the company (puzzled?). I said I can't talk to someone not working with the company cos It's about the product of… Read more
the company that I purchased and since the number I called was the company's after sales support number I assumed that I was calling the company --- she hanged up! Called again talked to another lady who informed me that the technician was engaged at that moment but he will call back. After several hours I received a call from the company's technician and advised me to bring the product to their service centre south of Brisbane (I'm from north). When I went to that service centre I was told by a technician that they don't service the product or if they will, it will be least priority and may take two months before they can work on it! The guy said that Aldi's tools don't have after sales support service unlike other products in the market. Gotta bring this back to Aldi. Waste of time and money!
This unit cuts and trims OK if you can get it started. Constant fuel line problems dog the motor and – This unit cuts and trims OK if you can get it started. Constant fuel line problems dog the motor and trying to get things fixed through the warranty is extremely difficult. Oil leaks and fuel leaks were also a major problem. It is heavy for its size and the brother to it is very heavy. You could say it is easy to maintain but it is necessary too often. Not for me. I sold mine and purchased a battery operated unit that works a treat. Show details
Disappointed in Aldi – I purchased a brush cutter a month ago from Aldi It spurted oil on its first use. I rang Aldi head office yesterday even though I was on hold for around 10-15 min the girl I got was excellent. Told her the issue but I could not get a replacement. The fact I had it boxed in original packaging and a Printed bank statement with date and price… Read more
payed I would receive a refund.
My husband returned the brush cutter this morning with all paperwork warranty and books and the name of the service person I spoke to in head office.
We payed 179.00 and received 150.00. The reason was because it was being sold for 150.00 Mmm but a replacement was not available?
I was told I would have no problem with returning this even though I did not have the original receipt but a the printed bank statement.
This was my first time purchasing an item like this at Aldi and I am extremely disappointed with the service and will never purchase items of this value At Aldi again.
I believe by calling head office and having all paper work supplied I fulfilled my obligation for a full refund. Also by Australian law when a product has a major fault a full refund is legally expected.
Pretty good brushcutter – Its cold start without choke after priming the bulb 12 times. Easy to restart with good fuel economy being 4 stroke. The downside it’s heavy at 7kg and the engine is not balanced lots of hand numbing vibrations. Bought it for $179 with 3yr warranty full cranked engine low fumes Show details
very hard to start, 2 strokes start easier – Once started it works fine. But the trick is getting it started. It takes forever. Yes I primed it with the choke on full. Yes I used the trigger lock. I read the manual and I am quite capable at starting garden equipment. I owned a mowing business. Sorry Aldi, epic fail. Going to go back to Honda. Show details
Gardenline Brushcutter – $199.00 at ALDI, This is the 31cc, 4 stroke model. Had it a week all OK so far. It seems quite solid, but a bit heavy but it does come with a shoulder harness to carry it. You will need to buy: engine oil 10w-30, Unleaded petrol and more cutting line (2.4mm dia.) as it only comes with 5m. Show details
Find out how ALDI Ferrex 31cc 4-Stroke Petrol Brush Cutter/Line Trimmer compares to other Petrol Whipper Snippers
Know better, choose better.
Great all round machine – Starts, runs and cuts well. I bought the line trimmer/brush cutter. Pole saw Hedge pole trimmer option. Only complaint is the drive shafts are prone to falling out... (lost one, would love to buy replacement!). Great for home or light commercial use. Show details
this is too good to be true – this is too good to be true.....It started as instructed.....I am bit of a 2 thumb toe engineer....had to slog it through the instructions....can be better and youtube it and save paper... anyway...i had to cut down a 70 year leaning gum tree....it was perfect...... you are not going to like this... I have a stihl multiple kit...with most… Read more
items...and you know...i paid total about $3000 and it still does not work as cleanly as the aldi gardenline...
furthermore, the engine is faultless.....I have a homelite whipper snipper which according to CHOICE...is the best value cheap whipper snipper....it stalls when i raise it up...
the garden line...works on and on...the gum tree had no chance....
Furthermore i bought another brand of large chainsaw...and after studying the safety and all the youtube....
I managed a swanson notch......back cut to get my 2 large wooden wedges in....did a through bore cut both sides...held on to another tree for extra anchorage....
and after that i did hinge cuts...and hammered the wedges in...
and there she fell......no engineer can do this unless you have good help from experts...
but what stihl couldnot....and even husqi could not....I cannot believe an ALdi gardenline 4 in 1...MFH 33004P did.
you beauty.... I am saving about 2-3 k on getting the best Stihl gear....
and by the way....to get the linkage shaft connected....in stihl.....every visit to get the plastic bracket fitted in cost me $ 65 dollars.....
but with gardenline...if it does not work....you can buy another for $ 190
I saved more than $2000 dollars....
I am not saying Stihl is not fantastic.....but the value per kw....and function...... I am not an arborist...but
saved me heaps....
ALdi you won a friend....
ALDI Gardenline Strimmer – Bought this strimmer for use on a community charity site about a year ago and its been back to Aldis repair centre twice and apparently repaired, what a con? Its worked for approximately four minutes in total since I originally bought it. "THE BIGGEST LOAD OF RUBBISH EVER PURCHASED FOR A CHARITY ORGANISATION, ALDI SHOULD BE ASHAMED" Bob Jenkins (Glofa Navigation Trust)
Total waste of money – So disappointed. Most stuff from Aldi is cheap but not nasty, but this is a piece of rubbish. First line feed that came with it was wound the wrong way and had no spring - replaced. Bump feed still doesn't work. Engine constantly conks out, lasts between 5-20 seconds, and is extremely difficult to restart. I've thrown it on the ground in… Read more
frustration.
Into the bin.
I'm not surprised this product has now been discontinued, but I'm leaving this review anyway as I need to vent!!
no problems – I bought the gardenline lawnmower and line trimmer and they are excellent. They both have started first time every time and handle the abuse I give them without complaint. They are well thought out and designed products for an extremely cheap price, I would have been happy to get 6 months work out off them for the price but i have had them for 18 months now and they are still going strong.
Gardenline (aldi ) trimmer – Bought Gardenline (Aldi) Petrol Trimmer. The first and second time I use it, it was okay. After that the petrol started to leak. Spoke to Aldi Helpdesk and I was directed to call Gardenline support and the staff ([name removed]) wasn't very helpful. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this product.
Gardenline (Aldi) Petrol Trimmer – I have exactly the same problem. I had it repaired within weeks of purchasing because it wouldn't start and now I have the oil leak. I shop at Aldi wherever I can because they provide value for money, have great staff and nothing is an issue but this product is letting them down.
very troublesome product – Bought a brand petrol line trimmer from aldi, worked well the first time.Tried to start this morning the second time, it wont start. Tried several times then noticed oil started leaking from the side. The model that I am talking about is 31cc 4 stroke petrol line trimmer. Very frustrating. I have not taken it back to Aldi yet..
More trouble than it's worth – The choke catch and line feed don't work. Once I put the metal blade on,the bottom section of the shaft kept coming undone! The thing vibrated violently. Truly wish I had not bothered. From other reviews I sense I have zero chance of getting my money back but will be trying.
Another crap product from Gardenline – I bought the new Gardenline trimmer and brush cutter from Aldi. I knew when I purchased it I was possibly making a big mistake. YEP, it is crap, will not start. Have gone over and over the instructions, I must admit the book is better than the trimmer. I don't know how people can get away fobbing off stuff that is 3rd rate.
Powerful machine bargain – Great little machine plenty of power, well balanced and low vibration. Only problem is bump head looks cheap so i replaced it with a littl juey and its a great unit. For 79 with a 3 year warranty its a bargain with a full crank motor. Show 2 replies
