Cheap and Nasty – Used it a month ago, seemed ok. Used it today. Ran rough. Put in fresh fuel. No difference. During the course of trying to get it to run, it broke the throttle cable out of its "Open sided Plastic housing". Where do you get parts for these ??? Show details
Happy as !!! – I bought this line trimmer and thought I'd give it a try not expecting too much but to my surprise I found it not only surpassed my expectations but worked a lot better than other more fancied brands I had invested in the past , very satisfied !!! Show details

I love this whipper snipper, I have had it since 2017 and it has always been reliable, starting on first pull, it is also really easy to change the line, it came with a head where you just pull out the old line from the back and just put new one in and in the holes and its done in 2 seconds, its been doing strong and ive never had issues with it,… Read more
the 2 stroke engine is more than enough and it works beautifally, almost if it was set to the wrong price. I am surprised that I got this quality out of a Gardenline Product from Aldi, if you find one, get it, as it will make you never buy another brand ever.

Not Powerful and DEADLY Major Defect – This product is not very powerful and ontop of that it started to slowly leak gasoline while using and if I was any more careless that gasoline could have spilt on my leg and then during intense heat possibly ignite which would have set me on fire! that is why this product is HORRIBLE and has a DEADLY defect!!! ATTENTION: UPDATE: Aldi has reached… Read more
back to me saying they cannot help with a refund and to go to the manufacturer instead deliberately avoiding taking responsibility.
Worst machine ever!! Doesn’t work after couple of uses!! Terrible and time waster Show details
Excellent quality item – After reading some of the reviews posted in this section, I think we’ve either been very lucky or we’ve purchased the right model. I purchased a Gardenline 25cc Whipper Snipper / Line Trimmer for $80 from a garage sale, around 4 years ago and I couldn’t be happier with it. The model number for the one I bought is GL-BC 255, which I think was… Read more
released in 2013. This could most likely mean that it was built a lot sturdier than the later models and made to last.
It starts easily each time and has plenty of power for completing the entire garden’s edges, both front and back, each time I use it.
The line is easy to replace on the spool and the bump feed works perfectly, without tangling, if it’s installed properly.
We have a Ryobi petrol Whipper Snipper that’s around the same age and the Gardenline one starts much easier than the Ryobi and I definitely prefer using it.
The only slight issue I have with it is that it’s a bit on the heavy side and I use a shoulder strap with it.
Otherwise, I can’t fault it and I would definitely recommend the GL-BC 255 model.

it had problem between exhaust parts and connecting engine parts only one hole has screw, – that exhaust parts fall down, because only one hole connect engine parts has screw in , that very loss, lost... I hope your manager will call me or email to response that case, I can go to your repair shop to fix or other best way, thanks my mobile :0410318123 Show details

Surprising great!?! – I’ve initially bought 2 line trimmers from Bunnings and both were useless, with the second one stop working at the worse possible time - just before our Open Home so has to race to buy one to make sure the place was ready. Bought this from Aldi. Still have it. Super easy to use; starts every time; never had an issue. Can’t believe it but highly recommend it! Show details
Best trimmer I've bought – Starts 2nd time after pulling up choke takes a minute to worm up does a great job down side is cuts out no fuel going to system if turned sideways always make sure of a full tank apart from that has not missed a beat loving it most of my tools are ferrex non of them have missed a beat do I better job then the more expansive brands recently bought… Read more

Not worth the money – Silly me- bought this second hand and quickly found the reason the original purchaser got rid of it: Oil from the crankcase leaks into the cylinder head, causing hydraulic lock. If you clear that by removing the spark plug it continues to pump oil out of the carburettor air-intake. Absolute rubbish! Show details
Disappointed and frustrated – Previously had a Ryobi and bought this with the expectation that this would be similar. How wrong I was. This is cheap and nasty. It is heavy and badly balanced, has poor starting, inconsistent running and is very noisy. I have given it a fair chance and used it a few times thinking that I would get used to it but no, this is just a poor quality item. Wish I could return and get a refund. Show details

This is a great item – I don't understand why people keep putting negative feed back or reviews here about this whippersipper. They are actually not too bad. A friend of myn bought a this whippersipper and a chainsaw about.4 yrs ago and they are both still going strong. His never had issues with them. Infact his had more expensive brand name tools and had more trouble then ever with them.

Third use and it won't start at all! – The first time I used the trimmer, it took around 5 minutes to start up. The second time, it took 10 minutes then, halfway through a small yard clean-up job, I could smell smoke. The plastic cover on the exhaust had caught fire! The trimmer restarted after ensuring I wasn't going to be dealing with a petrol fire, and i completed the job. Third… Read more
time around, 45 minutes of repeated attempts to start the thing and it never even kicked over once. Absolute waste of $99.
Poor product – I have had the combination hedge cutter, trimmer for about 3 years but hardly ever used it as it was quite heavy. Just recently I turned it over and the handle on the trigger just snapped off. What a disappointment as it was housed in a shed and not exposed to UV so there was no reason for it to break other than the plastic was just too weak. So all of those attachments are now going to the tip along with this piece of junk. John Show details
You gets what you pay for MOSTLY – Garden line lawn edge trimmer Two stage rev trigger starts easily enough but lower plastic rev trigger disintegrated and fell apart after a few months. There is simply no need for the the first stage release trigger which allows the other trigger to increase revs. So you have to hold down the top trigger to release the bottom rev trigger. This is another Chinese ILL thought out cheap Aldi product which simply doesn’t CUT IT Show details
Terrible to start – Extremely difficult to start, takes more than 10 pulls and even then a start is not guaranteed. Works well once started, but far too hard to start. I really regret buying it and I recommend avoiding buying one yourself; terrible machine. Show details
Aldi trimmer – Total crap. It has taken 1 hour trying to get it started and still not successful. NOT Happy is an understatement. Instructions are not easy to follow. Very dissatisfied. Rubbish. Show details
Horrible – First I was thrilled to have it. Started crapping out after first few use. After keeping it running for 10 minutes, got the engine warmed up and all, it will hardly run for 10-15 seconds. Followed instructions for choking and all, showed it to a professional gardener. No luck! Horrible, horrible after sales customer service. Called 4 times over 3… Read more
weeks, first point of contact have no clue about this product as they are just a 3rd party messenger . I was asked someone will get back to me, thank God I gave up after 3 weeks. Took it to the store I bought from and they refunded it smoothly. They might nag a bit in the beginning but stick to your ground and they will refund. Or else use it as much as possible to test it within first 60 days. Aldi will refund no question asked if something happen within this period.
Great machine terrible support – This machine had a great little engine but a fatal flaw. The lower shaft bushing for the cable wears out leaving the head rattling dangerous, parts cannot be bought for love or money. Planned obsolescence plain and disgusting in this age of recycling and not disposable devices. To make sure they made the shaft housing smaller than standard and… Read more
rotated the clips ,90 degrees to make sure other parts can't be used. Buy a brand name with better support.
Very very bad product could not assembled at home I had paid extra money for assemble – The slot was not going inside. Try to call technician from last 3 days but they are not give call back even. I have paid extra money to fix it. Show details

Worked okay for a year ... now engine won't turn off by the switch – I have a red version purchased mid-2019 - 31cc brush cutter (but I only use line trimmer). It's 4-stroke, it's heavy, and the line tends to break a little too (although I am not gentle with it around garden edges and trees and curbs). It always starts reasonably quickly - used every few weeks (make sure to pump the fuel 10 times min - and always… Read more
use 95 grade petrol - and never E10). But after almost 18 months, it has developed problem that, after running for a while, the on-off switch won't kill the engine. The only way to stop the engine now it is to disconnect the plastic fuel lines and wait for engine to stop (disconnecting fuel lines is obviously a fire risk around a hot engine). This brings me to the best thing about Aldi garden products - make sure it has the minimum 3 year warranty (this will be the second line trimmer I have replaced from Aldi under warranty - one was the cheaper battery model, and now this 4-stroke). I have had a problem with Ryobi petrol line trimmer and most of cheaper models only offer 1 year warranty which (in my opinion) is just way too short for these problem prone garden tools.
Dangerous and faulty, no after sales service - Aldi Petrol Trimmer – Item is hard to start ,regularly cuts out. Main problem is fuel leaks from the cap and around where the fuel lines enter the tank, this is made worse as the area is almost upside down when in use. Had fuel leaking on me and a ignited from the exhaust . Luckily I had gloves on and only had a stinging burn to my arm. Cutting line continually… Read more
breaks and needs replacing half a dozen times on a suburban house block trim . Oh and after sales service is just a waste of time , wait on hold for up to 15 minutes ,operator takes details and then says he will pass it on and service will get back to you . Still waiting for the first time ,second and third call over three months . Bad product ,bad service .
hard to start – purchased this in March 2020. Was hard to start from new Once started it had plenty of power and was up to task but became progressively harder to start. Starter cord would whip back in when trying to start. Eventually returned it for a refund. Would not recommend it. Show details
Decent Line Trimmer – Bought this Line Trimmer same as pictured here, model 53948 couple years ago. It's taken a hammering and all still works fine. Always starts and power is decent and not leaking. Head isn't great have to change line pretty regularly but that's ok, that's the design of it. Trigger broke due to my fault, getting caught on something but retrofitted a Chinese Honda GX35 type trigger handle and it's all good again. It's decent for the price. Show details
Rectifying problems with 5 in one garden tool – Had now problem assemmbling, I put chain on backward retifided that, had to loosen chain saw a little, the only problem I had with the headger, was that the headging blades had fused together that caused a jam up. Do not start without checking headge blade for movement, rotate spinal with plyers clock wise. Show details
Non existent after sales support – I purchased the GARDENLINE line trimmer from ALDI last September worked well the first three times, then on the forth it failed, the clutch I believe. Rang the support line 4 times over two weeks ( A call center ) and was assured a return call which to date has never happened. Full marks to ALDI, took it back and was refunded the purchase price without problem. Show details
Don't buy it – The petrol trimmer I bought from Aldi on 1.9.18 is a 2 stroke 25.4cc Model AGL-0772E. Price $89.99 Easy to assemble but seems to starve for fuel and won't rev and cuts out unless the throttle is massaged gently to build revs. Interestingly, it runs perfectly upside down. That's right... hold it upside down and it's perfect. Customer service 0… Read more
from 10 via the phone help line. After two phone calls and two emails I received a call back with voicemail message suggesting I send an email explaining the problem. So I sent a third email and expect to hear nothing, as usual. I was going to take it back to the Aldi store today when I decided to see if I could adjust the assembly so the engine was upside down when in use. The answer was yes and I could hardly believe it because it ran perfectly for an hour until the job was finished. I'm sure this is a simple fix and it is a pity that there is no customer service at all regarding this product. It does represent great value for money if it worked properly, but it's $90 wasted if it doesn't. I am going to keep it for now and see how it goes. It has a 3 year warranty and I don't think it will go the distance. If it doesn't, then back to my local Aldi store for a refund. They are usually good and don't argue about things, and I am hopeful that when I explain the customer service difficulties, they will be ok. In hindsight, a better brand would have been a better idea. An update: In November 2019 it gave up completely and I took it back and was refunded. When I mentioned the zero customer service from the manufacturer, the manager told me he was aware from other customers of this issue and was pleasantly empathetic. So, well done Aldi on taking care of me. I will continue shopping with confidence there. As for the petrol trimmer... it's only worth it's weight in scrap metal.
This product shouldn't have been sold at all – I am disappointed with it. I only used it twice and it took very long to turn on. When i started using it The wire kept snapping off. I changed wire a few times and finaly gave up. I won't use it again. I would not recommend anybody to buy it. Show details
Terrible – Used once Second time I pulled the starter it broke. It’s criminal. I could not get away running a business like that i would be shamed called a scammer and broke! I d be happy if they would at least take their rubbish back ! No support no help. Show details
Don't buy. No after service. unsafe – Fuel leaks from tank cap. Unsafe to use. Made five requests to source a replacement cap but received no reply. After sales service is non-existent. Shame on you, gardenline. Aldi receipt states Warranty is 36 months. This is a blatant lie as requests are ignored. Is the only option to return the item to the store for a refund which is not desirable to all concern and a report to the consumer watchdog? Show details
